¹⁴ should we again break Your commandments and join hands with the people of these abominations? Would You not be angry with us until You had crushed us, until there is no remnant nor survivor?

³² You shall make no covenant with them or with their gods.

¹⁰ And now leave Me alone, so that My wrath may become hot against them and so that I may consume them. And I will make of you a great nation.

²¹ Separate yourselves from among this congregation, so that I may devour them in a moment.

⁴⁵ Get away from this congregation so that I may consume them as in a moment. And they fell upon their faces.

⁸ Also in Horeb you provoked Jehovah to wrath, so that Jehovah was angry with you to have destroyed you.

¹⁴ Let Me alone, so that I may destroy them and blot out their name from under the heavens. And I will make of you a nation mightier and greater than they.

²⁶ I said I would dash them to pieces; I would make the memory of them to cease from among men, ²⁷ were it not the provocation of an enemy I feared, lest their enemies should misconstrue; lest they should say, Our hand is high and Jehovah has not done all this.

² And you shall make no treaty with those who live in this land. You shall throw down their altars. But you have not obeyed My voice. What is this that you have done?

² For they have taken of their daughters for themselves and for their sons. So the holy seed has mixed themselves with the people of those lands. Yes, the hand of the leaders and overseers has been chief in this sin.

⁸ And now for a little time grace has been shown from Jehovah our God, to leave us a remnant to escape and to give us a nail in His holy place, so that our God may enlighten our eyes and give us a little life in our bondage.

²³ In those days I also saw Jews who lived with women from Ashdod, Ammon, and from Moab. ²⁴ And their sons spoke half Ashdod's speech, and there was no caring to speak Jewish, but according to the language of each people. ²⁵ And I contended with them, and cursed them, and struck certain of them, and plucked off their hair. And I made them swear by the name of God, saying, You shall not give your daughters to their sons, or take their daughters to your sons, or for yourselves. ²⁶ Did not Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? Yet among many nations there was no king like him, who was beloved by his God, and God made him king over all Israel. But women from other lands caused even him to sin. ²⁷ Shall we then listen to you, to do all this great evil, to sin against our God in living with foreign women?

⁹ Except Jehovah of Hosts had left us a very small remnant, we would be as Sodom; we would be like Gomorrah.

²⁸ Do not fear, O Jacob My servant, says Jehovah, for I am with you. For I will make a full end of all the nations where I have driven you. But I will not make a full end of you, but correct you in measure; yet I will not leave you wholly unpunished.

⁸ Yet I will leave a remainder that may be left to you some who escape the sword among the nations, when you are scattered through the lands.

¹⁴ Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, Behold, you are made whole. Sin no more lest a worse thing come to you.

¹ What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin so that grace may abound?

²⁰ For if they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the full knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and are again entangled, they have been overcome by these, their last things are worse than the first. ²¹ For it would have been better for them not to have fully known the way of righteousness, than fully knowing it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them.
