¹ And Elijah the Tishbite, of the sojourners of Gilead, said to Ahab, As Jehovah, the God of Israel lives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, except according to my word.

⁸ At that time Jehovah separated the tribe of Levi to carry the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, to stand before Jehovah to minister to Him, and to bless in His name, until today.

⁴ And Jephthah called up all the men of Gilead and fought with Ephraim. And the men of Gilead struck Ephraim, because they said, You Gileadites are fugitives of Ephraim among the Ephraimites and among the Manassites.

¹ And it happened after many days the Word of Jehovah came to Elijah in the third year saying, Go, show yourself to Ahab. And I will send rain on the earth.

¹⁰ As Jehovah your God lives, there is no nation nor kingdom where my lord has not sent to seek you. And when they said, He is not there, he took an oath of the kingdom and nation that they did not find you.

¹⁵ And Elijah said, As Jehovah of Hosts lives, before whom I stand, I will surely be seen by him today.

¹⁴ And Micaiah said, As Jehovah lives, what Jehovah says to me, that I will speak.

¹⁴ And Elisha said, As Jehovah of Hosts lives, before whom I stand, surely if it were not that I regard the presence of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not look toward you nor see you.

¹⁶ But he said, As Jehovah lives, before whom I stand, I will receive none. And he urged him to take it, but he refused.

¹⁸ Lift up your eyes all around and see; they all gather and come to you. As I live, says Jehovah, you shall surely wear them as an ornament, and bind them on as a bride.

¹⁹ Therefore so says Jehovah, If you turn back, then I will bring you again; you shall stand before Me. And if you take the precious from the worthless, you shall be as My mouth. Let them turn back to you, but do not return to them.

²⁹ For He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

¹⁴ And if you will receive it, this is Elijah who is to come.

¹⁴ And they said, Some say, John the Baptist; some, Elijah; and others, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets.

⁴⁷ Some of those who stood there, when they heard, said, This one calls for Elijah.

⁴⁹ The rest said, Let Him alone, let us see whether Elijah will come to save Him.

¹⁷ And he shall go before Him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.

¹⁹ And answering, the angel said to him, I am Gabriel, who stands before God. And I am sent to speak to you and to show you these glad tidings.

²⁵ But I tell you truly, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land. ²⁶ But Elijah was not sent to any of them, except to Zarephath, a city of Sidon, to a woman, a widow.

³⁰ And behold, two men talked with Him, who were Moses and Elijah,

³³ And in their parting from Him, it happened that Peter said to Jesus, Master, it is good for us to be here. And let us make three tabernacles, one for You and one for Moses and one for Elijah; not knowing what he said.

⁵⁴ And seeing, His disciples James and John said, Lord, do You desire that we command fire to come down from Heaven and consume them, even as Elijah did?

³⁶ Watch therefore, praying in every season that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things which shall occur, and to stand before the Son of Man.

²¹ And they asked him, What then? Are you Elijah? And he says, I am not. Are you that prophet? And he answered, No.

²⁵ And they asked him and said, Why then do you baptize, if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor that Prophet?

²³ For tonight an angel of God stood beside me, whose I am and whom I serve,

² God did not thrust out His people whom He foreknew. Or do you not know what the Scripture said in Elijah, how he pleaded with God against Israel, saying,

¹⁷ Elijah was a man of like passion as we are. And he prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for the time of three years and six months.

⁶ These have authority to shut up the heaven, that it may not rain in the days of their prophecy. And they have authority over waters to turn them to blood, and to strike the earth with every plague, as often as they desire.
