⁴ And there were more chief men found of the sons of Eleazar than of the sons of Ithamar. And so they were divided. Among the sons of Eleazar were sixteen chief men of the house of their fathers, and eight among the sons of Ithamar according to the house of their fathers.

¹¹ Phinehas the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the priest, has turned My wrath away from the sons of Israel while he was zealous for My sake among them, so that I did not destroy the sons of Israel in My jealousy. ¹² Therefore say, Behold! I give him My covenant of peace. ¹³ And he shall have it, and his seed after him, the covenant of an everlasting priesthood, because he was zealous for his God, and made an atonement for the sons of Israel.

⁶ From the sons of Merari: Asaiah the chief, and two hundred and twenty of his brothers. ⁷ From the sons of Gershom: Joel the chief, and a hundred and thirty of his brothers. ⁸ From the sons of Elizaphan: Shemaiah the chief and two hundred of his brothers. ⁹ From the sons of Hebron: Eliel the chief and eighty of his brothers. ¹⁰ From the sons of Uzziel: Amminadab the chief and a hundred and twelve of his brothers. ¹¹ And David called for Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and for the Levites, for Uriel, Asaiah, and Joel, Shemaiah, and Eliel, and Amminadab. ¹² And he said to them, You are the heads of the fathers of the Levites. ²⁴ These were the sons of Levi after the house of their fathers, the chief of the fathers, as they were counted by number of names by their heads, the ones who did the work for the service of the house of Jehovah, from the age of twenty years and upward.
