¹ PAUL and Ti-moÆthe-us, servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Jesus Christ who are at Philippi, together with the elders and deacons:

³⁴ It is just like a man who went on a journey, and left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to each man his work, and he commanded the porter to keep awake.

²⁶ If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there also will my servant be; he who serves me, him my Father will honor.

²⁰ For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no one dwell in it; and let his duty be taken by another man.

¹ AND in those days, when the number of disciples had increased, the HelÆlen-ist converts murmured against the Hebrew converts because their widows were discriminated against in the daily distribution. ² So the twelve apostles called the whole multitude of the converts and said to them, It is not good that we should leave the word of God and serve food. * ³ Wherefore, brethren, examine and select from among you seven men of good repute who are full of the Spirit of the LORD and of wisdom, so that we may appoint them to this task. ⁴ And we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word. ⁵ This suggestion pleased the whole people so they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and Philip and ProchÆorus and Ni-caÆnor and TiÆmon and ParÆmenas and NicÆo-las, a proselyte of AnÆti-och. ⁶ These men stood before the apostles: who, as they prayed, laid their hands on them. ⁷ And the word of God spread; and the number of the converts in Jerusalem increased greatly; and many people of Jewish faith became converts.

¹³ Then An-a-niÆas said, My LORD, I have heard from many concerning this man, how much misery he has brought to your saints in Jerusalem.

¹ THEN he arrived at the city of DerÆbe and LysÆtra: there was there a disciple whose name was TimoÆthe-us, the son of a Jewess convert, but whose father was a SyrÆian. ² And all the disciples of LysÆtra and I-coÆnium gave good testimony concerning him. ³ Paul wanted to take this man with him, so he took him and circumcised him because of the Jews who were in that region; for they all knew that his father was a SyrÆi-an.

¹² And from thence to Phi-lipÆpi, which is the capital of Mac-e-doÆni-a, and is a colony: and we were in that city on some holidays. ¹³ And on the sabbath day we went outside the city gate to the river side because a house of prayer was seen there, and when we were seated, we spoke to the women who had gathered there. ¹⁴ And a certain woman, named LydÆi-a, a seller of purple of the city of Thy-a-tiÆra, feared God; her heart was so touched by our LORD that she listened to what Paul said. ¹⁵ And she was baptized together with her household, and she begged us, saying, If you are sincerely convinced that I believe in our LORD, come and stay in my house; and she urged us strongly.

²⁸ Take heed therefore to yourselves and to all the flock, over which the Holy Spirit has appointed you overseers, to feed the church of Christ which he has purchased with his blood.

⁷ To all who are in Rome, beloved of God, called and sanctified: Grace and peace be unto you from God our Father, and from our LORD Jesus Christ.

¹⁰ Now if Ti-moÆthe-us come, see that he may be with you without fear: for he is engaged in the LORDÆs work, just as I am.

² But from the beginning we suffered and as you know were treated shamefully, at PhilipÆpi; then with more struggle but with confidence in our God, we preached to you the gospel of Christ.

¹ PAUL, and Sil-vaÆnus, and Ti-moÆtheus, unto the Church of the Thes-saloÆni- ans in God our Father and our LORD Jesus Christ:

¹⁰ When he comes to be glorified by his saints and to perform his wonders among his faithful ones, so that our testimony, concerning you, may be believed in that day.

² To Ti-moÆthe-us, a true son in the faith: Grace, mercy and peace from God, our Father, and Christ Jesus our LORD.

¹ THIS is a true saying, If a man desires the office of a bishop, he aspires to a good work. ² He who becomes an bishop must be blameless, the husband of one wife, have an alert mind, must be sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, and apt at teaching;

⁸ Likewise the deacons must be pure, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;

¹⁰ Let these first be examined, and then let them minister after they have been found blameless. ¹¹ Likewise their wives must be chaste, have an alert mind, faithful in all things, and they must not be slanderers. ¹² Let the deacons be appointed from those who have not been polygamous, ruling their children and their own households well. ¹³ For those who minister well earn good recognition for themselves and grow more familiar with the faith of Jesus Christ.

¹ PAUL, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, in the faith of GodÆs elect, and in the knowledge of true godliness;

⁷ For an elder must be blameless, as a steward of God; and he must not be self-willed, not quick tempered, not excessive in the use of wine, not too ready to strike with his hand, not a lover of filthy lucre;

²³ You should know our brother Timothy has been set at liberty; and if he should come shortly, I will see you together with him.

²⁰ The mystery of the seven stars which you saw in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks are the seven churches.

⁸ And to the angel of the church in Smyrna write, These things says the first and the last, which was dead and is alive:

¹² And to the angel of the church in PerÆgamos write: These things says he who has the sharp two-edged sword;

¹⁰ And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said to me, Do not do that: I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

⁹ And he said to me, Do not do that: I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book: worship God.
