⁹ Then they will deliver you over to be oppressed, and they will kill you; and you will be hated by all nations for my nameÆs sake.

¹⁷ But be careful of men; for they will deliver you up to the courts, and they will scourge you in their synagogues; ¹⁸ And they will bring you before the presence of governors and kings for my sake, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles. ¹⁹ But when they deliver you up, do not worry as to how or what you will speak; for it will be given to you in that very hour what you are to speak. ²⁰ For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father, which speaks through you. ²¹ Brother will deliver up his own brother to death, and father his son; and children will rise up against their parents and put them to death. ²² And you will be hated by everybody because of my name; but he who endures until the end shall live.

⁶ And the rest seized his servants and insulted them, and killed them.

³⁴ Because of this, I am sending to you prophets and wise men and scribes; some of them you will kill and crucify; and some you will scourge in your synagogues, and pursue them from city to city;

⁹ Look out for yourselves; for they will deliver you to the judges, and they will scourge you in their synagogues; and you will stand before kings and governors for my sake, and as a testimony to them. ¹⁰ But my gospel must first be preached among all nations. ¹¹ When they bring you up to deliver you, do not worry beforehand what you will speak; and do not think of anything except what is given you in that very hour; speak that; for it is not you that speak, but the Holy Spirit. ¹² A brother will deliver his brother to death, and a father his son; and the children will rise up against their parents, and put them to death. ¹³ And you will be hated by all men because of my name; but he who has patience to the end, will be saved.

⁴⁹ For this reason, the wisdom of God also said, Behold, I will send them prophets and apostles, some of them they will persecute and kill;

¹² But before all these things, they will lay hands on you, and persecute you, and deliver you to the synagogues and the prisons; and they will bring you before kings and governors for the sake of my name.

¹⁶ You will be delivered up even by your parents and brothers, and your relatives and friends; and they will put some of you to death. ¹⁷ And you will be hated by every man because of my name.

¹⁹ If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but you are not of the world, for I have chosen you out of the world; this is why the world hates you. ²⁰ Remember the word which I said to you, that no servant is greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they kept my word, they will also keep yours.

² For they will put you out of their synagogues; and the hour will come that whoever kills you, will think that he has offered an offering to God.

² Being infuriated that they taught the people and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead. ³ And they laid hands on them and detained them until the next day, for it was now eventide.

⁴⁰ And they listened to him, and they called the apostles, and scourged them, and commanded them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. ⁴¹ The apostles went out from the presence of the council rejoicing that they had been worthy to suffer abuse for the sake of his name.

⁵⁹ And they stoned Stephen as he prayed, saying, Our LORD Jesus, accept my spirit.

¹ NOW at that very time Herod the king surnamed A-gripÆpa seized some of the people of the church to oppress them. ² And he killed James the brother of John with the sword. ³ And when he saw that this pleased the Jews, he proceeded to arrest Simon Peter also. This happened during the days of unleavened bread. ⁴ So he seized him and put him in prison and delivered him to the care of sixteen soldiers to keep him, so that he might deliver him to the Jewish people after the passover. ⁵ And while Simon Peter was kept in the prison, continual prayer was offered for him to God by the church.

³¹ And as the mob sought to kill him, the news reached the captain of the company, that all the city was in an uproar. ³² He immediately took a centurion and many soldiers, and ran down to them: and when they saw the chief captain and the soldiers, they ceased beating Paul.

¹⁹ And I said, My LORD, they know that I imprisoned and beat, in every synagogue, those who believed in you: ²⁰ And when the blood of your martyr Stephen was shed, I also was standing by, and was in accord with his slayers, and was in charge of the garments of them who stoned him. ²¹ Then he said to me, Depart: for I will send you afar to preach to the Gentiles. ²² They had given Paul audience up to this word, and then they lifted up their voices, and cried out, Away with such a fellow from the earth: for it is not fit that he should live.

²² Nevertheless, we desire to hear what you have to say, but if it is concerning this teaching, we know well that it is not acceptable to any one, and we do not want to hear about it.

¹⁴ For you, my brethren, have taken the pattern of the churches of God in Judµa which are in Christ Jesus: for you also have suffered from the people of your own tribe, even as they have suffered from the Jews; ¹⁵ Who both killed the LORD Jesus Christ, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they do not please God, and are against all men; ¹⁶ Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, adding this to their sins always; but the wrath of God is upon them to the uttermost.

¹⁶ If any man suffers as a Christian, let him not be ashamed: but let him glorify God through that very name.

¹⁰ Fear none of those things which you shall suffer: behold, the devil will cast some of you into prison, that you be tried; and you will be oppressed for ten days: be faithful even to death, and I will give you a crown of life.

¹³ I know your works and where you dwell even where SatanÆs seat is: And you uphold my name, and you did not deny my faith, even in those days when that witness of mine appeared, that faithful one of mine who was slain among you, where Satan dwells.

⁹ And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the sake of the word of God and for the testimony of the Lamb which they had: ¹⁰ And they cried with a loud voice saying, How long, O LORD, holy and true, do you not judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth? ¹¹ And a white robe was given to every one of them; and it was said to them, that they should rest yet for a little while, until the time should be fulfilled when their fellowservants and their brethren should be killed also as they had been.

¹⁴ And I said to him, My LORD, you know. And he said to me, These are those who came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
