⁴ Nicodemus said to him, How can an old man be born again? can he enter again a second time into his motherÆs womb, and be born?

³ Jesus answered and said to him, Truly, truly, I say to you, If a man is not born again,* he cannot see the kingdom of God.

¹¹ The woman said to him, My lord, you have no leather bucket, and no deep well; where do you get the living water? ¹² Why, are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us this well, and he himself drank from it, and his sons and his sheep?

¹⁴ For the material man rejects spiritual things, for they are foolishness to him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
