¹ ON the third day there was a marriage feast in Cana, a city of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there. ² And Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the marriage feast. ³ And when the wine decreased, his mother said to Jesus, They have no wine. ⁴ Jesus said to her, What is it to me and to you, woman? my turn has not yet come. ⁵ His mother said to the helpers, Whatever he tells you, do it. ⁶ And there were six stone jars placed there for the purification of the Jews, which could hold several gallons each. ⁷ Jesus said to them, Fill the jars with water; and they filled them up to the brim. ⁸ Then he said to them, Draw out now, and bring it to the chief guest of the feast. And they brought it. ⁹ And when the chief guest tasted the water that had become wine, he did not know whence it had come; but the helpers knew, who had drawn the water. Then the chief guest called the bridegroom ¹⁰ And said to him, Every man at first brings the best wine; and when they have drunk, then that which is weak; but you have kept the best wine until now. ¹¹ This is the first miracle which Jesus performed in Cana of Galilee, and he showed his glory; and his disciples believed in him. ¹² After this he went down to Capernaum, he and his mother and his brothers, and his disciples; and they remained there a few days. ¹³ And the Jewish passover was nearing; so Jesus went up to Jerusalem. ¹⁴ And he found in the temple those who were buying oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers sitting. ¹⁵ And he made a whip of cord, and drove them all out of the temple, even the sheep and the oxen and the money changers; and he threw out their exchange money, and upset their trays; ¹⁶ And to those who sold doves he said, Take these away from here; do not make my FatherÆs house a house of trading. ¹⁷ And his disciples remembered that it is written, The zeal for your house has given me courage. ¹⁸ The Jews answered and said to him, What sign do you show us, that you are doing these things? ¹⁹ Jesus answered and said to them, Tear down this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. ²⁰ The Jews said to him, It took forty-six years to build this temple, and will you raise it up in three days? ²¹ But he spoke concerning the temple of his body. ²² When he rose from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this; and they believed the scriptures and the word which Jesus had said. ²³ Now when Jesus was in Jerusalem at the passover, during the feast, a great many believed in him, because they saw the miracles which he did. ²⁴ But Jesus did not entrust himself to them, because he understood every man. ²⁵ And he needed no man to testify to him concerning any man; for he knew well what was in man.

¹³ And he left Nazareth, and came and settled in Capernaum, by the seaside, within the borders of Zabulon and of Napthali.

²⁹ And they cried aloud saying, What business have we together, Jesus, ôson of Godö? Have you come here to torment us before the time?

⁴ But Jesus knew their thoughts; so he said to them, Why do you think evil in your hearts?

¹⁶ Behold, I am sending you like lambs among the wolves; therefore be wise as serpents, and pure as doves. ¹⁷ But be careful of men; for they will deliver you up to the courts, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;

⁴⁰ Whoever receives you, receives me; and whoever receives me, receives him who sent me. ⁴¹ He who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet, shall receive a prophetÆs reward; and whoever receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man, shall receive a righteous manÆs reward. ⁴² Anyone who gives a drink to one of these little ones, if only a cup of cold water, in the name of a disciple, truly I say to you, he shall never lose his reward.

²³ And you, Capernaum, which have exalted yourself up to heaven, shall be brought down to Sheol; for if in Sodom had been done the works which were done in you, it would be standing to this day.

¹⁹ He will not argue, nor will he cry aloud; and no man will hear his voice in the street.

³⁸ Then some of the men of the scribes and Pharisees answered and said to him, Teacher, we would like to see a sign from you. ³⁹ But he answered and said to them, An evil and adulterous generation wants a sign; and no sign will be given to it, except the sign of the prophet Jonah. ⁴⁰ For as Jonah was in the whaleÆs belly three days and three nights, so the Son of man will be in the heart of the earth, three days and three nights.

⁴⁶ While he was speaking to the people, his mother and his brothers came and stood outside, and wanted to speak with him.

²⁰ That which was sown upon the rock, this is he who hears the word, and immediately accepts it with joy; ²¹ But it has no root in him, except for a while; and when trouble or persecution comes because of the word, he immediately stumbles.

⁵⁵ Is he not the carpenterÆs son? Is not his mother called Mary? and his brothers, James and Joses and Simon and Judah? ⁵⁶ Are not all his sisters with us? Where did he get all these things?

²⁸ Then Jesus said to her, O woman, your faith is great; let it be to you as you wish; and her daughter was healed from that very hour.

¹ AND the Pharisees and Sadducees came up to him to tempt him; and they asked him to show them a sign from heaven. ² But he answered and said to them, When it is evening, you say, It is clear, for the sky is red. ³ And in the morning you say, It is a winter day, for the sky is red and cloudy. O hypocrites, you know how to judge the face of the sky, but the signs of the present time you are not able to distinguish. ⁴ A wicked and adulterous generation wants a sign; and no sign shall be given to it, except the sign of the prophet Jonah. And he left them and went away.

²⁸ This is my blood of the new covenant which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

⁶⁰ But they could not find any; then there came a great many false witnesses; but at the end two came forward, ⁶¹ And said, This man said, I can tear down the temple of God, and build it in three days.

⁴⁰ And saying, O you who can tear down the temple and build it in three days, deliver yourself, if you are the Son of God, and come down from the cross.

⁶³ And they said to him, Our lord, we have just remembered that that deceiver used to say when he was alive, After three days I will rise again.

⁸ But Jesus perceived in his spirit that they were reasoning among themselves, and he said to them, Why do you reason these things in your heart?

² And they saw some of his disciples eating bread with their hands unwashed; and they reproached them. ³ For all the Jews, even the Pharisees, unless their hands are washed carefully would not eat, because they strictly observe the tradition of the elders. ⁴ Even the things from the market, if they are not washed, they would not eat them. And there are a great many other things, which they have accepted to obey, such as the washing of cups and pots, and copper utensils, and the bedding of dead men. ⁵ And the scribes and Pharisees asked him, Why do your disciples not walk according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with their hands unwashed?

¹¹ And the Pharisees came out and began to question him, and they asked him for a sign from heaven, so as to test him.

³¹ Then he began to teach them, that the Son of man will have to suffer a great deal, and be rejected by the elders, and the high priests, and the scribes, and be killed, and rise again on the third day.

² And he said to them, Go to the village in front of us; and as soon as you enter it, you will find a colt which is tied up, on which no man of the sons of men has ever ridden; untie it and bring it. ³ And if any man should say to you, Why are you doing this? say to him that our Lord needs it; and immediately he will send it here. ⁴ So they went and found the colt tied by the door, outside, in the street. And as they were untying it, ⁵ Some of the men who stood there said to them, What are you doing, are you untying the colt? ⁶ And they said to them as Jesus had instructed them; and they permitted them.

²⁷ And they came again to Jerusalem; and while he was walking in the temple, the high priests, and the scribes, and the elders came to him. ²⁸ And they said to him, By what authority do you do these things? and who gave you this authority to do these things?

¹² On the first day of unleavened bread, on which the Jews sacrifice the passover, his disciples said to him, Where do you wish that we go and prepare the passover for you to eat? ¹³ And he sent two of his disciples, and said to them, Go to the city, and behold you will meet a man carrying a vessel of water; follow him. ¹⁴ And wherever he enters, say to the owner of the house, Our master says, Where is the guestchamber, where I may eat the passover with my disciples? ¹⁵ And he will show you a large upper room furnished and prepared; there make ready for us. ¹⁶ And his disciples went out and came to the city, and they found just as he had told them; and they prepared the passover. ¹⁷ And when it was evening, he came with his twelve.

⁵⁸ We heard him say, I will tear down this temple which is made with hands, and in three days I will build another which is not made with hands.

²⁹ Even those who passed by blasphemed against him, nodding their heads and saying, O destroyer of the temple and builder of it in three days,

⁴¹ And his people went every year to Jerusalem during the feast of the passover.

⁴⁹ He said to them, Why were you looking for me? did you not know that I would be in the house of my Father?

⁵ Simon answered and said to him, Teacher, we have toiled all night, and have caught nothing; but just because of your word, I will cast the net. ⁶ And when they had done this, they inclosed a great many fish; and their net was breaking.

⁴⁶ Why do you call me, My Lord, my Lord, and do not do what I say? ⁴⁷ Every man who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like. ⁴⁸ He is like a man who built a house, and dug deep, and laid its foundations upon the rock; and when the flood came, the flood beat upon that house, and could not shake it; for its foundation was laid upon a rock. ⁴⁹ And he who hears and does not, is like a man who built his house on the earth without a foundation; and when the river beat against it, it fell immediately, and the fall of that house was great.

³⁴ The Son of man came, eating and drinking; and you say, Behold, a glutton and a winebibber, and a friend of publicans and sinners! ³⁵ And yet wisdom is justified by all its works. ³⁶ Then one of the Pharisees came and asked him to eat with him. And he entered the house of that Pharisee and reclined as a guest. ³⁷ Now there was in that city a woman who was a sinner; and when she knew that he was a guest in the PhariseeÆs house, she took an alabaster cruse of perfume, ³⁸ And she stood behind him at his feet, weeping, and she began to wet his feet with her tears, and to wipe them with the hair of her head, and she kissed his feet, and anointed them with perfume.

¹³ Those on the rock are those who when they have heard, receive the word with joy; and yet they have no root, but their belief is for a while, and in time of trial they stumble.

²⁹ And when the people were gathering, he began to say, This evil generation wants a sign; and no sign will be given to it, except the sign of the prophet Jonah.

²⁵ Abraham said to him, My son, remember you received your pleasures when you were living, and Lazarus his hardships; and behold now he is comfortable here, and you are suffering.

⁴⁴ And he said to them, These are the words which I spoke to you when I was with you, that everything must be fulfilled which is written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

¹⁴ And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw his glory, a glory like that of the firstborn of the Father, full of grace and truth.

²⁵ And they asked him and said to him, Why then do you baptize, if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor a prophet?

²³ So that every man should honor the Son, just as he honors the Father. He who does not honor the Son, does not honor the Father who sent him.

⁴² But I know you well, that the love of God is not in you.

⁴ And the feast of the passover of the Jews was at hand.

¹⁴ Then the men who saw the miracle which Jesus performed said, Truly this is the prophet who is to come into the world. ¹⁵ But Jesus knew that they were ready to come and seize him to make him a king, so he departed to the mountain alone.

¹⁷ And entered into a boat, and were going to the port of Capernaum. And now it was dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them.

²⁶ Jesus answered and said to them, Truly, truly, I say to you, You seek me, not because you saw the miracles, but just because you ate bread and were filled.

³⁰ They said to him, What miracle do you perform that we may see and believe in you? What have you performed?

⁶¹ Jesus knew in himself that his disciples were murmuring about this; so he said to them, Does this cause you to stumble?

⁶⁴ But there are some of you who do not believe. For Jesus knew for a long while who were those who did not believe, and who was to betray him.

³ And his brothers said to Jesus, Depart from here and go to Judaea, so that your disciples may see the works that you do. ⁴ For there is no man, who does anything in secret and yet wants it to become known. If you are doing these things, show yourself to the people. ⁵ For not even his own brothers believed in Jesus. ⁶ Jesus said to them, My time has not yet come; but your time is always ready.

¹⁷ He who wills to do his will, he will understand if my teaching is from God, or if I am just speaking of my own accord.

³⁰ So they wanted to seize him; and no man laid hands on him, because his time had not yet come. ³¹ But a great many of the people believed in him and said, When the Christ comes, why, will he do greater wonders than this man does?

²⁰ These words he spoke in the treasury, while he taught in the temple; and no man arrested him, for his time had not yet come.

⁴⁹ Jesus said to them, I am not crazy; but I honor my Father, and you curse me.

¹⁷ This is why my Father loves me, because I lay down my life, so that I may take it up again. ¹⁸ No man takes it away from me, but I lay it down of my own will. Therefore I have the power to lay it down, and I have the power to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.

²⁹ For my Father who gave them to me is greater than all; and no man can snatch anything from my FatherÆs hand.

³ His two sisters therefore sent to Jesus, saying, Our Lord, behold, the one whom you love is sick.

¹⁵ And I am glad I was not there, for your sakes, so that you may believe; but let us walk there.

²⁵ Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in me, even though he die, he shall live.

⁵⁵ Now the Jewish passover was at hand; and many went up from the towns to Jerusalem, before the feast, to purify themselves.

¹⁶ His disciples did not understand these things at that time; but when Jesus was glorified, then his disciples remembered that these things were written concerning him, and that they had done these things to him.

²³ Jesus answered and said to them, The hour has come that the Son of man should be glorified.

³⁷ Even though he had performed all of these miracles before them, yet they did not believe in him;

⁴¹ Isaiah said these things, when he saw his glory and spoke concerning him. ⁴² Many of the leading men also believed in him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess it, so that they might not be cast out of the synagogue. ⁴³ For they loved the honor of men more than the glory of God.

¹ NOW before the feast of the passover, Jesus knew the hour had come to depart from this world to his Father. And he loved his own who were in this world, and he loved them unto the end.

¹¹ For Jesus knew him who was to betray him; therefore he said, Not everyone of you is clean.

⁹ Jesus said to him, All this time I have been with you, and yet you do not know me, Philip? he who sees me, has seen the Father; and how do you say, Show us the Father? ¹⁰ Do you not believe that I am with my Father and my Father is with me? * the words that I speak, I do not speak of myself; but my Father who abides with me, he does these works. ¹¹ Believe that I am with my Father, and my Father is with me; and if not, believe because of the works.

¹³ And whatever you ask in my name, I will do it for you, so that the Father may be glorified through his Son.

²⁶ But the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom my Father will send in my name, he will teach you everything, and remind you of everything which I tell you.

¹⁴ You are my friends, if you do everything that I command you.

⁴ I have spoken these things to you, that when their time does come, you may remember them, and that I told you. And these things I did not tell you before, because I was with you.

³⁰ Now we understand that you know everything; and you need no man to ask you; by this we believe that you have come forth from God.

⁶ When Jesus said to them, I am he, they drew back and fell to the ground.

²⁶ When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing, he said to his mother, Woman, behold your son! ²⁷ Then he said to the disciple, Behold your mother! And from that very hour the disciple took her with him.

⁸ Then the other disciple who had come first to the tomb also entered in, and he saw and believed. ⁹ For they did yet not understand from the scripture, that he had to rise from the dead.

¹³ And they said to her, Woman, why do you weep? She said to them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid him.

¹⁵ Jesus said to her, Woman, why do you weep? and whom do you want? She thought he was the gardener, so she said to him, My lord, if you are the one who has taken him away, tell me where you have laid him, and I will go and take him away.

¹⁷ Jesus said to her, Do not come near me; for I have not yet ascended to my Father; but go to my brethren and say to them, I am ascending to my Father and your Father, and my God and your God.

³⁰ Many other miracles Jesus did in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book; ³¹ Even these are written, so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and when you believe you shall have life everlasting in his name.

¹⁷ He said to him again the third time, Simon, son of Jonah, do you love me? It grieved Peter because he said to him the third time, Do you love me? So he said to him, My Lord, you understand well everything, you know that I love you. Jesus said to him, Feed my female lambs.

¹³ And after they had entered into the city, they went up into an upper room, where stayed Peter and John and James and Andrew, and also Philip and Thomas, and Matthew and Bar-tholÆo-mew and James the son of Al-phµÆus, and Simon the zealot, and Judas the son of James. ¹⁴ These all continued together in prayer with one accord, with the women, and Mary the Mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.

²⁴ And as they prayed, they said, O LORD, you know what is in the hearts of all men; show which of these two you choose,

²⁴ Whom God has raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible for the grave to hold him.

³² This very Jesus, God has raised up, and we are all his witnesses.

¹⁵ And killed the Prince of Life, whom God has raised from the dead; all of us are his witnesses.

²⁶ Now it was for you first, God appointed and sent his Son to bless you if you turn and repent from your evils.

⁷ And when they had made them to stand in the midst, they asked, By what power or by what name have you done this?

²⁸ Saying, Did we not strictly command you not to teach any man in this name? And behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine; and intend to bring the blood of this man upon us.

²⁶ And the angel of the LORD spoke to Philip, saying, Arise, and go south by way of the desert that leads down from Jerusalem to Gaza, ²⁷ So he arose and went: and he was met by a eunuch, who had come from E-thi-oÆpi-a; an official of CanÆda-ce, queen of the E-thioÆpi- ans, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to worship at Jerusalem. ²⁸ While he was returning, sitting in his chariot, he read the book of the prophet IsaÆiah. ²⁹ And the Spirit said to Philip, Go near and keep close to the chariot. ³⁰ And as Philip drew near and heard him reading from the book of the prophet I-saÆiah, he said to him, Do you understand what you are reading? ³¹ And the E-thi-oÆpi-an said, How can I understand unless some one teach me? and he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. ³² The portion of the scripture which he was reading was this: He was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and like a ewe sheep before the shearer, so he opened not his mouth: ³³ In his humiliation, he suffered imprisonment and judgment: none can tell his struggle, for even his life is taken away from the earth. ³⁴ And the eunuch said to Philip. I pray you, of whom does this prophet speak? of himself or of some other man? ³⁵ Then Philip opened his mouth and began at that same scripture and preached to him concerning our LORD Jesus. ³⁶ And as they went on their way, they came to a place where there was water; and the eunuch said, Behold here is water; what prevents me from being baptized? ³⁷ * And Philip said, If you believe with all your heart, you may. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. ³⁸ And he commanded the chariot be stopped: and both went down into the water, and Philip baptized the eunuch. ³⁹ And when they came up from the water, the Spirit of the LORD caught Philip away and the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing. ⁴⁰ Philip was found at Az-oÆtus: and from there he traveled around and preached in all the cities till he came to Cµs-a-reÆa.

⁶ * And he, trembling and astonished, said, LORD, what will you have me to do? And the LORD said to him, Arise and go into the city, and there you will be told what you must do.

¹⁶ Then I remembered that word of our LORD, when he said, John indeed baptized with water; but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.

²⁴ There was here a silversmith named DemeÆtri- us, who made silver shrines for ArÆtemis, thus greatly enriching the craftsmen of his trade. ²⁵ He called together all the craftsmen of his trade, with the workmen of like occupation, and said to them: Men, you know that all of our earnings are derived from this craft. ²⁶ You also hear and see that not only the EpheÆsi- ans, but almost throughout all Asia Minor, this Paul has persuaded, and turned away many people simply by saying that gods made by the hands of men are not gods, ²⁷ So that not only is this craft doomed, but also the temple of the great goddess ArÆtemis will be disregarded, and the goddess of all Asia Minor, even she whom all peoples worship, will be despised.

²⁴ But for us also, for he will number us also, who believe in him who raised our LORD Jesus Christ from the dead;

⁴ Therefore, we are buried with him by baptism into death: so that as Jesus Christ arose from the dead by the glory of his Father, even so we also shall walk in a new life.

¹¹ And if the Spirit of Him who raised our LORD Jesus Christ from the dead dwells within you, so he who raised Jesus Christ from the dead will also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwells within you.

⁷ Render therefore, to every one as is due to him: head tax to him who is in charge of head tax, duty to him who is in charge of custom; reverence to whom reverence is due, and honor to whom honor is due.

¹⁶ Do you not know that you are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?

¹⁹ Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit that dwells within you, which you have of God, and you are not your own?

³⁹ A wife is bound by the law, as long as her husband lives; but if her husband dies, she is free to marry whom she pleases, but only in our LORD.

⁵ And have we not the right to travel with a Christian wife, just as the rest of the apostles, and as the brothers of our LORD, and as Cephas?

³¹ Whether therefore you eat or drink, or whatsoever you do, do all to the glory of God.

³ For I delivered to you first of all that which I had also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; ⁴ And that he was buried, and that he rose again on the third day according to the scriptures:

¹² Now if it is preached that Christ rose from the dead, how can some say among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?

¹⁸ But we all, with open faces, see as in a mirror the glory of the LORD, and we shall be transformed into the same likeness, from one glory to another, just as the Spirit comes from the LORD.

⁶ For God, who said, Let light shine out of darkness, has shone in our hearts, so that we may be enlightened with the knowledge of the glory of God in the person of Christ.

¹⁷ For while the troubles of the present time are little and light, a great and limitless glory for ever and ever is prepared for us.

¹⁶ And now from henceforth we do not know any one in the body: even though once we had known Christ in the body, we no longer know him now.

¹⁶ Or what harmony has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God; as it is said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

⁴ For the weapons which we use are not earthly weapons, but of the might of God by which we conquer rebellious strongholds;

¹⁹ But I did not see any one of the other apostles, except James the brother of our LORD.

⁵ To those false brothers we did not submit, not even for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might remain with you. ⁶ Now those who were considered to be important (what they are makes no difference to me, for God does not discriminate among men), even these very persons did not contribute additional knowledge to me.

¹⁰ For those who rely on the works of the law are still under the curse: for as it is written, Cursed is everyone who does not practice everything which is written in the book of the law. ¹¹ But that no man is justified by the law before God, is evident: for, as it is written, The righteous shall live by faith. ¹² Thus the law is not made by faith, but, Whosoever shall do the things which are written in it shall live in it. ¹³ Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, by becoming accursed for our sakes: for it is written, Cursed is everyone who hangs on a cross:

⁶ For in Christ Jesus, neither is circumcision anything nor uncircumcision; but faith which is accomplished by love.

²⁰ And you are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the corner-stone of the building: ²¹ And through him the whole building is fashioned and grows into a holy temple through the help of the LORD: ²² You also are builded by him for a habitation of God through the Spirit.

¹⁶ To grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit; ¹⁷ That Christ may dwell in you by faith, and in your hearts by love, strengthening your understanding and your foundation;

²⁶ That he might sanctify and cleanse it, by the washing of water and by the word,

³⁰ For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. ³¹ For this reason shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined to his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. ³² This is a great mystery; but I speak concerning Christ and his church. ³³ Nevertheless, let every one of you so love his wife as himself, and the wife see that she reverence her husband.

⁶ Do not worry over things; but always by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

¹⁹ For it pleased God to complete all things in him;

⁹ For in him is embodied all the fulness of the Godhead.

¹² And you were buried with him in baptism, and by him you were raised with him, for you believed in the power of God who raised him from the dead.

¹⁷ And whatever you do in word or deed, do it in the name of our LORD Jesus Christ, giving thanks through him to God the Father.

¹ NOW the Spirit speaks expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, following after misleading spirits, and doctrines of devils. ² Who with false appearance mislead and speak lies and are seared in their own conscience; ³ Who prohibit marriage, and demand abstinence from foods which God has created for use and thanksgiving of those who believe and know the truth.

⁵ And strife among men whose minds are corrupt and who are cut off from the truth and who think worshipping God is for worldly gain; you keep away from such things.

¹³ And there is no creature which is hidden from his sight: but all things are naked and open before the eyes of him to whom we are to answer.

⁹ And he grew to be perfect, and became the author of life everlasting to all who obey him;

² And for the doctrine of baptisms, and for the laying on of hands, and for the resurrection of the dead and for eternal judgment?

² And he has become the minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which God pitched and not man.

¹⁰ But which served only for food and drink, and in divers ablutions, which are ordinances of the flesh and which were imposed until the time of reformation.

¹⁹ For when Moses had given every precept to all the people according to the law, Moses took the blood of a heifer with water, and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled it on the books and on all the people,

²² Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled and cleansed of evil thought, and our bodies washed with pure water.

⁸ By faith Abraham, when he was called to depart for the land which he was to receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing where he was going.

⁴ Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled; but God will judge those who practice vice and adultery;

¹⁹ You believe that there is one God; you do well. The devils also believe, and they tremble. ²⁰ Would you know, O weak man, that faith without works is dead?

⁴ The one to whom you are coming is the living stone, whom men have rejected, and yet he is chosen and precious with God; ⁵ You also, as living stones, build up yourselves and become spiritual temples and holy priests to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

¹⁸ For Christ also once suffered for our sins, a just man for sinners, that he might bring you to God, wherefore while he died in the flesh, he lives in the Spirit.

³ And through covetousness, they will exploit you with feigned words: whose judgment from the very beginning has not ceased and their damnation is always active.

¹⁴ And have eyes full of adultery, and of sin that does not cease: beguiling, unstable souls are they whose hearts are well versed in covetousness: accursed sons are they. ¹⁵ Who have forsaken the right way and are gone astray, following the way of BaÆlaam, the son of Be-or, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;

¹³ These things I have written to you who believe on the name of the Son of God; that you may know that you have eternal life.

²³ And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he who searches the reins and hearts: and I will give unto everyone of you according to your works.

²⁰ Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to him and will sup with him, and he with me.

¹⁶ They shall hunger no more; neither thirst anymore; neither shall they be stricken by the sun, nor by the heat. ¹⁷ For the Lamb who is in the midst of the throne shall shepherd them, and shall lead them to fountains of living water. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.
