¹ What then shall we say our father Abraham to have found according to flesh?

² Look to your father Abraham, and to Sarah who bore you. For he being but one, I called him and blessed him and increased him.

⁹ And do not think to say within yourselves, We have a father, Abraham. For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham from these stones.

⁸ Then bring forth fruits worthy of repentance, and do not begin to say within yourselves, We have Abraham as father. For I say to you that God is able to raise up children to Abraham out of these stones.

²⁴ And calling he said, Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am suffering in this flame. ²⁵ But Abraham said, Child, remember that you fully received your good things in your lifetime, and Lazarus likewise the bad things. But now he is comforted, and you are suffering.

²⁹ Abraham said to him, They have Moses and the Prophets, let them hear them. ³⁰ But he said, No, father Abraham, but if one should go from the dead to them, they will repent. ³¹ And he said to him, If they will not hear Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if one from the dead should rise.

³³ They answered Him, We are Abraham's seed, and we have been in slavery to no one, never! How do you say, You will become free?

³⁷ I know that you are Abraham's seed, but you seek to kill Me, because My Word has no place in you. ³⁸ I speak what I have seen with My Father. And you therefore do what you have seen with your father. ³⁹ They answered and said to Him, Abraham is our father. Jesus said to them, If you were children of Abraham, you would do the works of Abraham. ⁴⁰ But now you seek to kill Me, a man who has spoken the truth to you, which I heard alongside of God. Abraham did not do this. ⁴¹ You do the works of your father. They said to Him, We were not born of fornication; we have one father, God.

⁵³ Are you greater than our father Abraham who died? And the prophets died! Whom do you make yourself?

⁵⁶ Your father Abraham leaped for joy that he should see My day, and he saw, and rejoiced.

²⁶ Men, brothers, sons of the race of Abraham, and the ones among you fearing God, to you the word of this salvation was sent.

¹⁶ On account of this, it is of faith, that it be according to grace, for the promise to be made sure to all the seed, not to that of the Law only, but also to that of the faith of Abraham, who is father of us all,

¹ What then shall we say? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?

⁷ What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Let it not be! But I did not know sin except through law; for also I did not know lust except the law said, "You shall not lust." Ex. 20:17

³¹ What then shall we say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

²² Are they Hebrews? I also. Are they Israelites? I also. Are they Abraham's seed? I also.

⁹ Furthermore, indeed we have had fathers of our flesh as correctors, and we respected them . Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits, and we shall live?
