¹⁹ Then You spoke in a vision to Your holy one; and You said, I have laid help on a mighty one. I have exalted a chosen one from the people.

¹ And Jehovah said to Samuel, Until when will you mourn for Saul, for I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and go. I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite, for I have seen a king for Me among his sons.

¹⁸ One of the servants answered and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite who is skillful in playing, and a mighty warrior, and a man of battle, and skillful in speech, and a man of form. And Jehovah is with him.

⁸ And now, so you shall say to My servant, to David, So says Jehovah of hosts, I have taken you from the resting place, from following the flock, to be ruler over My people, over Israel. ⁹ And I have been with you wherever you went, and have cut off all your enemies from before you and have made you a great name, like the name of the great men who are on the earth. ¹⁰ And I will designate a place for My people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in their own place and not be made to tremble any more. Nor shall the sons of evil afflict them again, as at the first, ¹¹ even from the day I commanded judges to be over My people Israel. And I will cause you to rest from all your enemies. And Jehovah declares to you that Jehovah will make you a house. ¹² When your days are fulfilled, and you lie with your fathers, then I shall raise up your seed after you, who shall come out from your bowels, and I shall establish his kingdom. ¹³ He shall build a house for My Name, and I shall establish the throne of his kingdom forever. ¹⁴ I shall be a father to him, and he shall be a son to Me. When he sins, then I will chasten him with a rod of men, and with strokes of the sons of men. ¹⁵ But My mercy shall not be taken from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away from before you. ¹⁶ And your house shall be established, and your kingdom before you forever. Your throne shall be established forever. ¹⁷ According to all these words, and according to all this vision, so Nathan spoke to David.

¹⁰ And also he, the son of valor, whose heart is as the heart of the lion, shall utterly melt. For all Israel knows that your father is a mighty man, and those with him sons of valor.

³⁴ But I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand, but I will make him ruler all the days of his life, for My servant David's sake, whom I chose, because he kept My commands and My statutes.

³ My tears have been my food by day and by night, while they say to me all the day long, Where is your God?

³ I have cut a covenant with My chosen; I have sworn to David My servant,

⁶ For a Child is born; to us a Son is given; and the government is on His shoulder; and His name is called Wonderful, Counselor, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.

²¹ And his leader shall be from him, and his ruler shall come from among him. And I will cause him to draw near, and he shall approach Me. For who is he who pledged his heart to come near to Me, says Jehovah?

²⁴ saying, What is to us and to You, Jesus, Nazarene? Have You come to destroy us? I know You, who You are, the Holy One of God.

⁷⁰ even as He spoke through the mouth of His holy prophets from the age before :

⁶ who subsisting in the form of God thought it not robbery to be equal with God, ⁷ but emptied Himself, taking the form of a slave, having become in the likeness of men ⁸ and being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, having become obedient until death, even the death of a cross. ⁹ Because of this also God highly exalted Him and gave Him a name above every name, ¹⁰ that at the name of Jesus "every knee should bow," of heavenly ones, and earthly ones, and ones under the earth, ¹¹ and "every tongue should confess" that Jesus Christ is "Lord," to the glory of God the Father. Isa. 45:23

⁹ but we do see Jesus crowned with glory and honor, who on account of the suffering of death was made a little less than the angels, so that by the grace of God He might taste of death for every son . ¹⁰ For it was fitting for Him, because of whom are all things, and through whom are all things, bringing many sons to glory, to perfect Him as the Author of their salvation through sufferings. ¹¹ For both He sanctifying and the ones being sanctified are all of one; for which cause He is not ashamed to call them brothers, ¹² saying, I will announce Your name to My brothers; I will hymn to You in the midst of the assembly." Psa. 22:22 ¹³ And again, "I will be trusting on Him." Isa. 8:17 And again, "Behold, I and the children whom God gave to Me." Isa. 8:18 ¹⁴ Since, then, the children have partaken of flesh and blood, in like manner He Himself also shared the same things, that through death He might cause to cease the one having the power of death, (that is, the Devil); ¹⁵ and might set these free, as many as by fear of death were subject to slavery through all the time to live. ¹⁶ For indeed He does not take hold of angels, "but He takes hold of" " the seed of Abraham."
