¹ The Proverbs of Solomon, son of David, king of Israel: ² To know wisdom and instruction; to understand the words of understanding; ³ to receive instruction in prudence, justice, and judgment, and uprightness; ⁴ to give sense to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young man. ⁵ The wise hears and increases learning, and the understanding ones gets wise counsel, ⁶ to understand a proverb and an enigma; the words of the wise, and their acute sayings. ⁷ The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction. ⁸ My son, hear your father's instruction, and do not forsake the teaching of your mother; ⁹ for they shall be an ornament of grace to your head, and chains for your neck. ¹⁰ My son, if sinners lure you, do not be willing. ¹¹ If they say, Walk with us, let us lie in wait for blood, let us secretly lurk for the innocent without cause, ¹² let us swallow them up alive as Sheol; and whole, as those who go down into the Pit, ¹³ we shall find all precious goods; we shall fill our houses with plunder; ¹⁴ cast in your lot among us; one purse shall be to all of us. ¹⁵ My son, do not walk in the way with them! Hold back your foot from their path; ¹⁶ for their feet run to evil and they haste to shed blood. ¹⁷ For in vain the net is spread in the sight of every bird. ¹⁸ And they lie in wait for their own blood; they lurk secretly for their own souls. ¹⁹ So are the ways of everyone who gets unjust gain; it takes away its owner's soul. ²⁰ Wisdom cries aloud outside; she gives her voice in the square; ²¹ she calls at the head of gathering places; in the opening of the gates, in the city she utters her words: ²² How long will you love to be simple, you simple ones? And will scorners desire scorn for themselves? And will fools hate knowledge? ²³ Turn back at my warning; behold, I will pour out my Spirit to you; I will make my words known to you. ²⁴ Because I called, and you refused; I stretch out a hand, and none inclines, ²⁵ but you have ignored all my counsel, and you did not desire my warning. ²⁶ I also will laugh in your calamity, I will mock when your dread comes; ²⁷ when your dread comes like a storm; and your calamity arrives like a tempest, when distress and constraint come on you. ²⁸ Then they shall call on me, and I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me. ²⁹ Instead they hated knowledge and chose not the fear of Jehovah. ³⁰ They did not want my counsel; they despised all my reproof, ³¹ and they shall eat of the fruit of their own way and be filled with their own lusts. ³² For the going astray of the simple kills them, and the ease of fools destroys them. ³³ But he who listens to me shall live securely and shall be at ease from the dread of evil.

²⁴ And David comforted his wife Bathsheba. And he went into her, and lay with her. And she bore a son, and he called his name Solomon. And Jehovah loved him, ²⁵ and sent by the hand of Nathan the prophet, and called his name Jedidiah, because of Jehovah.

¹² And Solomon sat on the throne of his father David, and his kingdom was firmly established.

³¹ For he was wiser than all men; wiser than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol. And his name was in all nations all around. ³² And he spoke three thousand proverbs, and his songs were a thousand and five.

⁹ Behold, a son shall be born to you; he shall be a man of rest, and I will give him rest from all his enemies all around, for Solomon shall be his name, and I will give peace and quietness to Israel in his days;

⁵ And of all my sons, for Jehovah has given me many sons, He has chosen my son Solomon to sit on the throne of the kingdom of Jehovah, over Israel.

²⁸ And he died in a good old age, satisfied with days, riches, and honor. And his son Solomon reigned in his place.

¹ The proverbs of Solomon: A wise son makes a father rejoice, but the foolish son is his mother's sorrow.

¹ These are the proverbs of Solomon which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out:

¹ The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem:

⁹ And more than that, the Preacher was wise; he still taught the people knowledge. Yes, he listened, and looked, and set in order many proverbs.

²⁵ I have spoken these things to you in allegories. An hour comes when I will no longer speak to you in allegories, but I will reveal the Father plainly to you.

⁵ Behold, I have taught you statutes and ordinances, as Jehovah my God has commanded me, to do them, in the midst of the land where you are going in, to possess it, ⁶ and you shall keep and do them, for it shall be your wisdom and your understanding before the eyes of the peoples who hear all these statutes. And they shall say, This great nation is a people wise and understanding.

⁹ Also give to Your servant an understanding heart, to judge Your people to discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this, Your great people? ¹⁰ And the word was good in the eyes of the Lord, that Solomon had asked this thing. ¹¹ And God said to him, Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked for yourself many days, nor asked riches for yourself, nor asked the life of your enemies, and have asked for discernment for yourself, to understand judgment, ¹² behold, I have done according to your words. Behold, I have given to you a wise and understanding heart, so that there was none like you before you, and after you none shall rise up like you.

⁵ Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forsake and do not turn away from the words of my mouth. ⁶ Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; love her, and she will keep you. ⁷ Wisdom is the main thing; get wisdom, and with all your getting, get understanding.

⁴ Say to wisdom, You are my sister, and call understanding your kinsman,

⁵ Understand wisdom, simple ones; and fools, be of an understanding heart.

¹⁶ How much better to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen above silver.

¹⁶ Why is there hire in a fool's hand to get wisdom, and there is no heart for it ?

¹⁵ and that from a babe you know the Holy Scriptures, those being able to make you wise to salvation through belief in Christ Jesus. ¹⁶ Every Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, ¹⁷ so that the man of God may be perfected, fully furnished for every good work.

²⁸ And all Israel heard of the judgment that the king had judged, and feared from the face of the king; for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him to do judgment.

²² Now receive the law from His mouth and put His words in your heart.

¹ My son, if you will receive My words, and treasure up My commandments with you, ² so that you attend to wisdom, you shall extend your heart to understanding. ³ For if you cry for discernment, lifting up your voice for understanding; ⁴ if you seek her as silver, and search for her as hidden treasures, ⁵ then you shall understand the fear of Jehovah and find knowledge of God. ⁶ For Jehovah gives wisdom; out of His mouth are knowledge and understanding. ⁷ He lays up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to the ones who walk in integrity, ⁸ to guard the paths of judgment, and He protects the way of His saints. ⁹ Then you shall understand righteousness and judgment and honesty, yea, every good path.

¹⁰ Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge, rather than choice gold. ¹¹ For wisdom is better than jewels, and all delights cannot be compared to it.

⁷ The law of Jehovah is perfect, converting the soul. The testimony of Jehovah is sure, making the simple wise.

¹¹ Come, listen to me, my sons, I will teach you the fear of Jehovah.

⁹ Beth By what shall a young man purify his way, to keep it according to Your word?

¹³⁰ The entering of Your word gives light, instructing the simple ones.

²² How long will you love to be simple, you simple ones? And will scorners desire scorn for themselves? And will fools hate knowledge? ²³ Turn back at my warning; behold, I will pour out my Spirit to you; I will make my words known to you.

¹⁰ When wisdom enters into your heart, and knowledge is pleasing to your soul, ¹¹ discretion shall keep you, understanding shall watch over you;

²¹ My son, do not let them depart from your eyes; keep sound wisdom and judgment,

⁷ and I saw among the simple ones, I observed among the sons a young man lacking heart, ⁸ passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house, ⁹ in the twilight, in the evening, in the black and darkness of night. ¹⁰ And, behold, a woman to meet him, with a harlot's dress, and a guarded heart; ¹¹ she is loud and stubborn; her feet do not stay in her own house. ¹² At this time she is outside, now in the streets, and she lies in wait at every corner; ¹³ and she seizes him and kisses him; she hardens her face and says to him, ¹⁴ Sacrifices of peace offerings are on me, today I have paid my vows; ¹⁵ so I came out to meet you, earnestly to seek your face, and I have found you. ¹⁶ I have spread my couch with coverings, with striped cloths of Egyptian linen. ¹⁷ I have sprinkled my bed with myrrh, aloes and cinnamon. ¹⁸ Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning, let us delight ourselves with caresses. ¹⁹ For my husband is not at his house; he is going in the way, far away. ²⁰ He has taken a bag of silver in his hand; at the day of the full moon he will enter his house. ²¹ With the sum of her persuasion she turned him aside; with the flattering of her lips she forced him. ²² He goes after her immediately, as an ox goes to the slaughter; or as one in fetters goes to the correction of a fool, ²³ until an arrow strikes through his liver, as a bird hastens to the snare, and not knowing that it is for his soul. ²⁴ Now, then, listen to me, O sons, and attend to the words of my mouth:

¹² I, wisdom, dwell with sense, and I find knowledge of discretions.

¹⁷ I love those who love me, and those who seek me early find me.

³² And now listen to me, O sons, for blessed are those who keep my ways.

⁴ The simple one, turn in here; and to one lacking heart, she says to him: ⁵ Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine I have mixed. ⁶ Forsake the foolish, and live, and go in the way of understanding.

⁹ Rejoice, O young man, in your youth. And make your heart glad in the days of your youth, and walk in the ways of your heart, and in the sight of your eyes; but know that for all these things God will bring you into judgment.

⁸ And a highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called, The Way of Holiness. The unclean shall not pass over it. And it is for them, the wayfaring one; yea, fools shall not go astray.

²² But flee youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace, with the ones calling on the Lord out of a pure heart.

⁶ the younger men in the same way exhort to be discreet;

³² And David said to Abigail, Blessed is Jehovah the God of Israel, who has sent you to meet me today. ³³ And blessed is your discernment. And blessed are you in that you have kept me from coming in with blood this day, and from delivering myself with my own hand.

¹⁶ And it happened, as he spoke with him, that he said to him, Have we appointed you a counselor to the king? Stop! Why should they strike you? And the prophet stopped, and said, I know that God has counseled to destroy you because you have done this, and have not listened to my counsel.

¹⁰ So, O man of heart, listen to me; far be it from God to do wickedness; and the Almighty, to do evilly.

¹⁶ But if you have understanding, hear this; listen to the sound of my words:

³⁴ Men of heart will say to me, and a wise man who hears me will say,

⁹⁸ You make me wiser than my enemies by Your commands; for they are forever mine. ⁹⁹ I have more wisdom than all my teachers; for Your testimonies are a meditation to me. ¹⁰⁰ I understand more than the aged, for I keep Your precepts.

⁹ Give to a wise one, and he will be more wise; teach a just one, and he will increase in learning.

¹ Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is like a brute animal.

¹⁵ I speak as to prudent ones; you judge what I say.

⁸ I speak to him mouth to mouth, and by an appearance, and not in riddles; and he carefully looks upon the form of Jehovah. So why have you not been afraid to speak against My servant, against Moses?

⁴ I will bow down my ear to a parable; I will open my dark saying on the harp.

² I will open my mouth in a parable; I will pour forth dark sayings of old,

¹¹ The words of the wise are as goads; yea, as nails driven by the masters of collections, they are given from one Shepherd.

¹⁰ And coming near, the disciples said to Him, Why do You speak to them in parables? ¹¹ And answering, He said to them, Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of Heaven, but it has not been given to those. ¹² For whoever has, to him will be given, and he will have overabundance. But whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him. ¹³ Because of this, I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. ¹⁴ And the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled on them, which says, "In hearing you will hear and in no way understand, and seeing you will see yet in no way perceive. ¹⁵ For the heart of this people has grown fat, and they heard sluggishly with the ears, and they have closed their eyes, that they not see with the eyes, or hear with the ears, and understand with the heart, and be converted, and I heal them." LXX-Isa. 6:9, 10 ¹⁶ But your eyes are blessed because they see; and your ears because they hear. ¹⁷ For truly I tell you that many prophets and righteous ones desired to see what you see and did not see, and to hear what you hear and did not hear.

³⁴ Jesus spoke all these things in parables to the crowds, and He did not speak to them without a parable, ³⁵ so that was fulfilled that spoken through the prophet, saying: "I will open My mouth in parables; I will say things hidden from the foundation of the world." Psa. 78:2

⁵¹ Jesus said to them, Have you understood all these things? They said to Him, Yes, Lord. ⁵² And He said to them, Because of this, every scribe schooled to the kingdom of Heaven is like a man, a master of a house, who puts forth out of his treasure new and old.

¹¹ And He said to them, To you has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God. But to these, those outside, all things are being given in parables,

³⁴ But He did not speak to them without a parable. And He explained all things to His disciples privately.

³⁰ And running near Philip heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, Indeed, do you know what you are reading? ³¹ But he said, How should I be able except someone shall guide me? And he called Philip near, to come up to sit with him.

¹⁴ But solid food is for those full grown, having exercised the faculties through habit, for distinction of both good and bad.

¹⁶ as also in all his epistles, speaking in them concerning these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the unlearned and unsettled pervert, as also they do the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.

²⁸ And to man He said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom! And to turn from evil is understanding.

¹⁰ The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of wisdom; all who practice them have a good understanding; His praise is standing forever!

²² How long will you love to be simple, you simple ones? And will scorners desire scorn for themselves? And will fools hate knowledge?

²⁹ Instead they hated knowledge and chose not the fear of Jehovah. ³⁰ They did not want my counsel; they despised all my reproof,

¹² and say, How I have hated instruction, and my heart despised correction; ¹³ and I have not bowed to the voice of my teachers, nor bowed my ears to those instructing me.

¹⁰ The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of wisdom; and the knowledge of the Holy Ones is understanding.

⁵ A fool despises his father's instruction, but he keeping correction is sensible.

³³ The fear of Jehovah is instruction in wisdom, and before honor is humility.

² A fool has no delight in understanding, but only in uncovering his heart.

¹³ Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep His commandments; for this applies to every man.

¹⁸ The one believing into Him is not condemned; but the one not believing has already been condemned, for he has not believed into the name of the only begotten Son of God. ¹⁹ And this is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness more than the Light, for their works were evil. ²⁰ For everyone practicing wickedness hates the Light, and does not come to the Light, that his works may not be exposed. ²¹ But the one doing the truth comes to the Light, that his works may be revealed, that they exist, having been worked in God.

²⁸ And even as they did not think fit to have God in their knowledge, God gave them up to a reprobate mind, to do the things not right,

³ Each man of you shall revere his mother and his father, and keep My sabbaths; I am Jehovah your God.

¹⁸ If a man has a stubborn and rebellious son who will not listen to his father's voice, or his mother's voice; even though they discipline him, he will not listen to them; ¹⁹ then his father and his mother shall lay hold on him and bring him out to the elders of his city, and to the gate of his place; ²⁰ and they shall say to the elders of his city, This son of ours is stubborn and rebellious; he will not listen to our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard. ²¹ And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, and he shall die. So you shall put away the evil from among you, that all Israel shall hear, and fear.

²⁵ If a man sins against a man, then God shall judge him. But if a man sins against Jehovah, who shall pray for him? But they did not listen to the voice of their father, because Jehovah desired to execute them.

¹⁰ My son, if sinners lure you, do not be willing.

¹⁵ My son, do not walk in the way with them! Hold back your foot from their path;

¹ My son, if you will receive My words, and treasure up My commandments with you,

¹ My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart keep my commands,

¹ Sons, hear the instruction of a father, and listen so as to know understanding. ² For I give you good teaching, do not forsake my law. ³ For I was my father's son, tender and an only one in the sight of my mother. ⁴ And he taught me and said to me, Let your heart cling to my words; keep my commands and live.

¹ My son, listen to my wisdom; bow your ears to my understanding; ² So that you may keep judgment, and your lips may keep knowledge.

²⁰ My son, keep your father's commands, and do not forsake the law of your mother.

¹ My son, keep my words and store up my commands within you.

¹⁷ The eye that mocks its father, and despises to obey its mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, the sons of the eagle shall eat it.

¹ The words of king Lemuel, the burden that his mother taught him:

² And, behold! They were bringing a paralytic lying on a cot to Him. And seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralytic, Be comforted, child. Your sins have been forgiven you.

²² But turning and seeing her, Jesus said, Be comforted, daughter; your faith has healed you. And the woman was healed from that hour.

⁵ taking recollection of the unpretended faith in you, which first dwelt in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice, and I am assured that it is also in you.

⁴² And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand and put it on the hand of Joseph; and he clothed him with fine linen robes, and put a golden chain on his neck.

²² and they shall be life to your soul, and grace to your neck;

⁹ She shall give a wreath of grace to your head; she shall shield you with a crown of glory.

²⁰ My son, keep your father's commands, and do not forsake the law of your mother. ²¹ Tie them to your heart forever; tie them around your neck.

¹⁰ Your cheeks are lovely with ornaments, your neck with chains of beads .

⁹ You have ravished My heart, My sister, My spouse; you have ravished My heart with one of your eyes, with one chain of your neck.

¹⁹ the pendants, and the bracelets, and the veils;

¹¹ And I adorned you with ornaments, and I put bracelets on your hands and a chain on your neck.

⁷ The king cried aloud to bring in the conjurers, the Chaldeans, and the star gazers. The king spoke and said to the wise men of Babylon, Any man who can read this writing and reveal its meaning shall be clothed with purple, and have a chain of gold around his neck. And he shall rule third in the kingdom.

¹⁶ And I have heard of you, that you can interpret meanings, and unravel knots. Now if you can read the writing and reveal its meaning to me, you shall be clothed with purple and have a golden chain around your neck, and you will rule third in the kingdom.

²⁹ Then Belshazzar commanded, and they clothed Daniel with purple, and a necklace of gold around his neck. And they made a proclamation concerning him, that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.

⁹ So also the women to adorn themselves in proper clothing, with modesty and sensibleness, not with plaiting, or gold, or pearls, or expensive garments, ¹⁰ but what becomes women professing fear of God, through good works.

³ Of whom let it not be the outward act of braiding of hairs, and of putting gold around, or of clothing of adorning garments, ⁴ but the hidden man of the heart, in the incorruptible adornment of the meek and quiet spirit, which is of great value before God.

⁷ And after these things, it happened that his master's wife lifted up her eyes to Joseph, and said, Lie with me. ⁸ And he refused, and said to his master's wife, Behold, my master does not know what is in the house with me, and all that he owns he has given into my hand. ⁹ No one in this house is greater than I, and he has not withheld anything from me except you, because you are his wife. And how should I do this great evil and sin against God? ¹⁰ And it happened, as she spoke to Joseph day after day, he did not listen to her, to lie beside her, to be with her. ¹¹ And it happened on this day, that he went into the house to do his work. And none of the men of the house were there in the house. ¹² And she caught him by his robe, saying, Lie with me! And he left his robe in her hand and fled, and went outside. ¹³ And it happened, when she saw that he had left his robe in her hand, and had fled outside,

⁸ you shall not consent to him, nor listen to him, nor shall your eye have pity on him, nor shall you spare nor hide him.

¹⁶ And it happened, because she distressed him with her words all the days, and urged him; and his soul was grieved to death, ¹⁷ that he told her all his heart, and said to her, No razor has come on my head, for I am a Nazirite to God from my mother's womb. If I were shaved, my strength would go away from me, and I would be weak, and be like any one of men. ¹⁸ And Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart. And she sent and called for the Philistine rulers, saying, Come, for this time he has told me all his heart. And the Philistine rulers came up to her, and brought the silver in their hand. ¹⁹ And she made him sleep on her knees, and called for a man, and had him shave seven braids of his head, and began to afflict him. And his strength departed from him. ²⁰ And she said, Samson, the Philistines are upon you! And He awakened from his sleep, and said, I will go out and shake myself free as time after time. But he did not know that Jehovah had departed from him. ²¹ And the Philistines seized him, and bored out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza. And they bound him with bands of bronze. And he was grinding in the house of prisoners.

¹ Blessed is the man who has not walked in the counsel of the ungodly, and has not stood in the way of sinners and has not sat in the seat of scorners.

¹⁸ When you saw a thief, you were pleased with him; and you have taken part with adulterers.

²¹ With the sum of her persuasion she turned him aside; with the flattering of her lips she forced him. ²² He goes after her immediately, as an ox goes to the slaughter; or as one in fetters goes to the correction of a fool, ²³ until an arrow strikes through his liver, as a bird hastens to the snare, and not knowing that it is for his soul.

²⁰ He who walks with the wise shall be wise, but one associating with fools shall be broken.

²⁹ A violent man lures his neighbor, and causes him to go in a way that is not good.

¹⁹ A revealer of secrets walks about as a gossip, so do not meddle with him who opens his lips wide.

¹⁸ For such ones do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth speaking and flattering they deceive the hearts of those without guile.

¹¹ And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them .

⁸ He sits in the hiding places of the villages; in the secret places he murders the innocent; his eyes watch against the poor. ⁹ He lies in wait secretly like a lion in his den; he lies in ambush to catch the poor; he seizes the poor, drawing him into his net; ¹⁰ and being crushed, he bows; and the poor have fallen by his strong ones.

¹² like a lion who longs to tear, and like a young lion sitting in hidden dens.

⁷ For they have hidden their pit-net for me without cause; without cause they have dug for my soul.

⁶ They stir up strife; they hide; they observe my footprints as they wait for my soul.

⁵ They make themselves strong in an evil plan; they talk of laying snares secretly; they say, Who shall see them? ⁶ They search into injustice, saying, We have finished a well laid plan. Yea, the inward part of man and the heart are deep!

¹⁶ for their feet run to evil and they haste to shed blood.

¹⁸ And they lie in wait for their own blood; they lurk secretly for their own souls.

⁶ The words of the wicked ambush for blood, but the mouth of the upright shall deliver them.

¹⁴ a generation whose teeth are like swords, and its jaw teeth like knives, to devour the poor from the earth, and the needy from among men.

²⁶ For among My people are found wicked ones. They lie in wait, as one who sets snares. They set a trap, they catch men.

¹⁹ And I was like a docile lamb being brought to the slaughter; and I did not know that they had plotted schemes against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with its fruit; and let us cut him off from the land of the living so that his name may be remembered no more.

¹⁸ Then they said, Come and let us plot schemes against Jeremiah. For the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor word from the prophet. Come and let us strike him with the tongue, and let us not listen to any of his words. ¹⁹ O Jehovah, pay attention to me, and pay attention to the voice of my foes. ²⁰ Should evil be repaid for good? For they have dug a pit for my soul. Remember, I stood before You to speak good concerning them, to turn Your wrath from them.

² The pious has perished from the earth, and the upright is not among mankind. All of them lie in wait for blood; each one hunts his brother with a net.

³ Then the chief priests and the scribes and the elders of the people were assembled to the court of the high priest, the one named Caiaphas. ⁴ And they plotted together in order that they might seize Jesus by guile and kill Him .

²⁵ But that may be fulfilled the Word that has been written in their Law, "They hated Me without a cause." Psa. 69:4

¹⁵ Now, then, you with the sanhedrin inform the chiliarch, so that tomorrow he may bring him down to you, as intending more accurately to find out about him. And before his drawing near, we are ready to kill him.

³ asking a favor against him, so as he might send for him to Jerusalem, making a plot to kill him on the way.

³⁰ And if Jehovah makes a new thing, and the ground opens her mouth and swallows them, and all that they have, and they go down alive to Sheol, then you shall know that these men have despised Jehovah. ³¹ And it happened, as he made an end of speaking all these words, the ground which was under them split apart, ³² and the earth opened her mouth and swallowed them, and their houses, and all the men who were for Korah, and all their possessions. ³³ And they went down, they and all that they had, alive to Sheol, and the earth covered over them; and they perished from the midst of the assembly.

¹⁰ And the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up together with Korah, at the death of that company, when the fire devoured two hundred and fifty men. And they became a sign;

⁹ For there is no faithfulness in their mouth; their inward part is engulfing ruin; their throat is an open grave; they flatter with their tongue.

¹ A Psalm of David. I will call to You, O Jehovah; my Rock, be not deaf to me, lest, if you be silent from me I may be compared with those going down into the Pit.

²⁵ Let them not say in their hearts, Aha! Our soul! Let them not say, We have swallowed him up.

¹ To the chief musician. Concerning the silent dove, those far off. Of David, a secret treasure (when the Philistines seized him in Gath). Favor me, O God, for man snuffs me up; all the day fighting oppresses me. ² My watchers panted for me all the day; for many are proudly fighting against me.

³ He shall send from Heaven and save me; He will shame the one who crushes me. Selah. God shall send His mercy and His truth.

³ then they would have swallowed us alive, when their anger glowed against us.

⁷ O Jehovah, answer me quickly; my spirit is failing; do not hide Your face from me lest I be like the ones who go down to the Pit.

³⁴ Nebu-chadnezzar, the king of Babylon, has devoured us. He has crushed us. He has made us an empty vessel. He has swallowed us like a jackal. He has filled his belly with delicacies. He has thrown me out.

⁵ The Lord was like an enemy; He swallowed up Israel; He swallowed up all his palaces and destroyed his strongholds; and He increased mourning and weeping in the daughter of Judah.

¹⁶ All your haters have opened their mouth against you; they hiss and gnash the teeth; they say, We have swallowed up. Surely this is the day for which we waited; we have found; we have seen.

² Those hating good and loving evil, who pull their skin off them, and their flesh from their bones; ³ who also eat the flesh of My people, and cause their skin to come off from them; yea, they break their bones and shatter, like that in the pot, and as flesh in the midst of the kettle.

¹³ "Their throat is an opened grave;" "they used deceit with their tongues; the poison of asps is under their lips;

² They move the landmarks; they seize and pasture flocks; ³ If they drive away the ass of orphans; they take the widow's ox for a pledge;

¹⁹ So are the ways of everyone who gets unjust gain; it takes away its owner's soul.

¹³ For he says, I have worked by the strength of my hand and by my wisdom; for I am wise. And I take away the borders of peoples, and have robbed their treasures. And like a mighty one, I subdue inhabitants. ¹⁴ And my hand has found the riches of the people. Like a nest, I also have gathered all the earth, as forsaken eggs are gathered. And there was not one moving a wing, or opening a mouth, or one chirping.

¹⁶ He judged the cause of the poor and needy, then it was well. Was this not to know Me, says Jehovah? ¹⁷ But your eyes and your heart lust for nothing but your unjust gain, and to shed innocent blood, and oppression, and to do violence.

¹² The lion tears in pieces, enough for his cubs, and strangles for his lionesses, and has filled his holes with prey, even his lairs with torn prey.

⁹ The glory of this latter house shall be greater than that of the former, says Jehovah of hosts. And in this place I will give peace, says Jehovah of hosts.

¹⁵ And He said to them, Beware, and keep back from covetousness; for one's life is not in the abundance of the things which are his.

⁹ But those having purposed to be rich fall into temptation, and a snare, and many foolish and hurtful lusts, which plunge men into destruction and loss. ¹⁰ For the love of money is a root of all evils, by means of which some having lusted after it were seduced from the faith, and they themselves pierced through by many pains.

⁹ And the kings of the earth will weep for her, and will wail over her, those having fornicated and having luxuriated with her, when they see the smoke of her burning; ¹⁰ standing from afar because of the fear of her torment, saying, Woe! Woe to the great city, Babylon, the strong city! For in one hour your judgment came. ¹¹ And the merchants of the earth weep and mourn over her, because no one buys their cargo any more, ¹² cargo of gold, and silver, and of precious stone, and of pearls, and of fine linen, and of purple, and of silk, and of scarlet, and all thyine wood, and every ivory vessel, and every vessel of very precious wood, and of bronze, and of iron, and of marble, ¹³ and cinnamon, and incenses, and ointment, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine meal, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep, and horses, and chariots, and of bodies and souls of men. ¹⁴ And the ripe fruits of the lust of your soul went away from you, and all the fat things, and the bright things went away from you, and you will find them no more, not at all. ¹⁵ The merchants of these things, the ones being enriched from her, will stand from afar because of the fear of her torment, weeping and mourning; ¹⁶ and saying, Woe! Woe to the great city having been clothed in linen and purple and scarlet, and having been gilded with gold and precious stone, and pearls!

⁴ I have not sat with lying men; and I will not go in with hypocrites; ⁵ I have hated the assembly of evildoers, and I will not sit with the wicked.

¹⁰¹ I have kept my feet from every evil way, to keep Your word.

¹⁴ Do not enter the path of the wicked, and do not go in the way of evildoers. ¹⁵ Avoid it, do not pass by it; turn from it and pass on.

²⁷ Do not turn to the right hand or to the left; turn your foot aside from evil.

⁸ Remove your ways far from her, and do not come near to the door of her house,

⁶ Forsake the foolish, and live, and go in the way of understanding.

¹⁰ So says Jehovah to this people: So they have loved to wander; they have not restrained their feet; therefore, Jehovah does not accept them. He will now remember their iniquity and punish their sins.

¹⁷ Because of this, "come out from among them" "and be separated," says the Lord, "and do not touch the unclean thing," and I will receive you. Isa. 52:11

¹⁶ For they do not sleep if they have done no evil, and their sleep is taken away unless they cause some to fall.

¹⁸ a heart that plots evil plans, feet hurrying to run to mischief,

⁷ Their feet run to evil, and they hurry to pour out innocent blood. Thoughts of iniquity are their thoughts; wasting and ruin are in their tracks.

⁵ But if our unrighteousness commends the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who lays on wrath? I speak according to man.

¹¹ teaching us more than the animals of the earth, and makes us wiser than the birds of the heavens?

²³ until an arrow strikes through his liver, as a bird hastens to the snare, and not knowing that it is for his soul.

³ The ox knows his owner, and the ass his master's manger, but Israel does not know; My people have not understood.

⁷ Also the stork in the heavens knows her seasons, and the turtledove and the swallow and the thrush observe the time of their coming. But My people do not know the judgment of Jehovah.

¹⁰ And they hanged Haman on the wooden gallows which he had prepared for Mordecai. And the king's wrath lay down.

¹⁴ Behold, he writhes with iniquity and he will conceive mischief: and he has fathered falsehood; ¹⁵ he dug a pit and bored it, and has fallen into the ditch he made. ¹⁶ His mischief shall return on his own head, and his violence shall come down on his own crown.

¹⁶ Jehovah has been known, He has executed judgment; the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. A meditation, Selah.

²³ But You, O God, will bring them down to the pit of destruction; men of blood and deceit will not live out half their days; but I will trust in You.

²² His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be held with the cords of his sin. ²³ He shall die without instruction, and in the greatness of his foolishness he shall go astray.

¹⁷ Stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant. ¹⁸ But he does not know that the departed spirits are there; her guests are in the depths of hell.

¹⁷ Any man oppressed with the blood of a soul shall flee to the pit; let them not uphold him.

⁴ saying, I sinned, betraying innocent blood. But they said, What is it to us? You see to it . ⁵ And tossing the silver pieces into the Holy Place, he left. And going away he hanged himself.

¹¹ and Joab said to the man who told him, And behold, you have seen. And why did you not strike him to the earth there and call on me to give you ten silverlings and a girdle? ¹² And the man said to Joab, Yes, though I weighed a thousand silverlings in my hand, I would not put forth my hand to the king's son. For in our ears the king commanded you, and Abishai, and Ittai saying, Take heed, whoever goes against the young man, against Absalom. ¹³ Or I would have dealt falsely against my soul. For no matter is hidden from the king, and you, you yourself would have set against me.

²⁰ And Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, Behold, my lord has spared this Syrian, Naaman, not to receive from his hand that which he has brought As Jehovah lives, surely I will run after him, then I shall take something from him. ²¹ And Gehazi ran after Naaman. And Naaman saw one running after him, and got down from the chariot to meet him, and said, Peace? ²² And he said, Peace. My lord has sent me, saying, Behold this now, two young men from the hills of Ephraim have come to me, of the sons of the prophets. Please give to them a talent of silver, and two changes of garments. ²³ And Naaman said, Be pleased, take two talents. And he forced these on him, and bound two talents of silver and two purses, and two changes of garments, and gave to two of his young men, and they carried before him. ²⁴ And he came into the hill, and took out of their hand, and put away in the house, and sent away the men. And they went. ²⁵ And he went in and stood by his lord. And Elisha said to him, Where from Gehazi? And he said, Your servant did not go here or there. ²⁶ And he said to him. Did not my heart go out when the man turned from his chariot to meet you. Is it a time to take silver, and to take garments and olives, and vineyards, and flock, and herd, and male slaves, and slave-girls? ²⁷ Yea, the leprosy of Naaman shall cling to you, and to your seed forever. And he went out from him as leprous as snow.

³⁹ if I have eaten its strength without silver, or have caused its owner to expire;

²⁷ He who is greedy for gain troubles his own house, but he who hates bribes shall live.

³ Do not desire his delicacies, for it is the bread of lies. ⁴ Do not labor to be rich, cease from your own understanding.

¹³ There is a painful evil which I have seen under the sun: riches being kept for their owner to his evil;

¹⁷ But your eyes and your heart lust for nothing but your unjust gain, and to shed innocent blood, and oppression, and to do violence. ¹⁸ So Jehovah says this concerning Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, They shall not mourn for him, saying, Ah, my brother! Or, Ah, sister! They shall not mourn for him, saying, Ah, lord! Or, Ah, his glory! ¹⁹ He shall be buried with the burial of an ass, drawn beyond the gates of Jerusalem and thrown out.

¹ Woe to those plotting wickedness and preparing evil on their beds! In the light of the morning they practice it, because it is in the power of their hand. ² And they covet and seize fields and houses, and carry them away. And they oppress a man and his household, even a man and his inheritance. ³ So Jehovah says this: Behold, I am plotting an evil against this family, from which you shall not remove your necks; nor shall you go exalted, for it is an evil time.

¹⁰ those building up Zion with blood and Jerusalem with iniquity: ¹¹ Her leaders judge for a bribe, and her priests teach for pay, and her prophets divine for silver; yet they will lean on Jehovah, saying, is not Jehovah among us? No evil shall come on us! ¹² Therefore, on account of you, Zion shall be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house into high places of the forest.

⁹ Woe to him who robs evil booty for his house, to set his nest on high, to be delivered from the hand of evil!

¹⁹ saying, Give to me also this authority that to whomever I may lay on the hands he may receive the Holy Spirit. ²⁰ But Peter said to him, May your silver be with you into perdition, because you thought to get the gift of God through money.

³ not a drinker, not a contentious one, not greedy of ill gain, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not loving money;

¹ Come now, rich ones, weep, howling over your hardships coming on. ² Your riches have rotted, and your garments have become moth-eaten. ³ Your gold and silver have rusted over, and their poison will be a testimony to you, and will eat your flesh as fire. You heaped treasure in the last days. ⁴ Behold, the wages of the workmen who have reaped your fields cry out, being kept back by you. And the cries of the ones who have reaped have entered "into the ears of the Lord of Hosts." Isa. 5:9

³ And by covetousness, with well-turned words, they will use you for gain, for whom judgment of old does not linger, and their destruction does not slumber.

¹⁴ having eyes full of an adulteress, and never ceasing from sin; alluring unsettled souls; having a heart busied with covetousness; cursed children; ¹⁵ forsaking a straight path, they went astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness, ¹⁶ but had reproof of his own transgression, the dumb ass speaking in a man's voice held back the madness of the prophet.

¹ Does not wisdom call? And does not understanding speak? ² She stands in the top of high places, by the wayside, in the houses of the paths, ³ beside the gates; before the entrance of the city, at the doors, she cries. ⁴ I call to you, O men, and my voice is to the sons of men. ⁵ Understand wisdom, simple ones; and fools, be of an understanding heart.

³ She has sent out her maidens; she cries on the highest places of the city;

⁵⁴ And coming into His own country, He taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished, and said, Where did this one get this wisdom, and the powerful works?

⁴⁹ And because of this, the wisdom of God said, I will send prophets and apostles to them, and they will kill and drive out some of them,

³⁷ And in the last day of the great feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.

²⁴ but to the called-out ones, both to Jews and to Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God;

³⁰ But of Him, you are in Christ Jesus, who was made to us wisdom from God, both righteousness and sanctification and redemption,

³ in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and of knowledge.

²⁷ What I say to you in the darkness, speak in the light. And what you hear in the ear, proclaim on the housetops.

² And great crowds were gathered to Him, so that boarding the boat, He sat down. And all the crowd stood on the shore.

²⁰ Jesus answered him, I publicly spoke to the world; I always taught in the synagogue and in the temple where the Jews always come together, and I spoke nothing in secret.

²⁰ Go! And standing in the temple, speak to the people all the words of this Life.

³ And Moses and Aaron went in to Pharaoh and said to him, So says Jehovah the God of the Hebrews, Until when will you refuse to humble yourself before Me? Send away My people so that they may serve Me.

²⁸ And Jehovah said to Moses, Until when do you refuse to keep My commandments and My laws?

²⁷ Until when shall I bear with this evil company who are murmuring against Me? I have heard the murmurings of the sons of Israel which they are murmuring against Me.

⁷ What man is like Job, who drinks up derision like water;

⁸ Understand you beastly ones among the people; yea, you fools, when will you be wise?

⁴ to give sense to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young man.

⁷ The fear of Jehovah is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.

²⁹ Instead they hated knowledge and chose not the fear of Jehovah.

³⁴ Surely He scorns the scorners, but He gives grace to the lowly.

¹² and say, How I have hated instruction, and my heart despised correction;

⁹ How long will you lie down, O lazy man? When will you arise out of your sleep?

⁷ and I saw among the simple ones, I observed among the sons a young man lacking heart,

¹⁶ The simple one, let him turn in here; and to the one lacking heart, she says to him:

⁶ A scorner seeks wisdom, but finds it not, yet knowledge is swift to the discerning.

¹² A scorner loves not one who corrects him, nor will he go to the wise.

²⁹ Judgments are prepared for scorners, and blows for the backs of fools.

¹¹ The simple is made wise when the scorner is punished, and when the wise is instructed, he receives knowledge.

¹³ But going, learn what this is, "I desire mercy and not sacrifice." For I did not come to call righteous ones, but sinners to repentance. Hos. 6:6

²⁹ Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, because I am meek and lowly in heart, "and you will find rest to your souls." Jer. 6:16 ³⁰ For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.

¹⁷ And answering, Jesus said, O faithless and perverted generation! How long will I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him here to Me.

³⁷ Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one killing the prophets and stoning those sent to her. How often I desired to gather your children in the way a bird gathers her chicks under her wings! And you did not desire it.

⁴² saying, If you had known, even you, even at least in this day of yours, the things for your peace! But now they were hidden from your eyes.

²⁰ For everyone practicing wickedness hates the Light, and does not come to the Light, that his works may not be exposed.

³ first, knowing this, that during the last days scoffers will come walking according to their own lusts,

¹⁷ And the Spirit and the bride say, Come! And the one hearing, let him say, Come! And the one thirsting, let him come; and the one desiring, let him take of the water of life freely.

¹ A Psalm of Praise, of David. I will exalt you, my God, O King; and bless Your name forever and ever.

²⁵ but you have ignored all my counsel, and you did not desire my warning.

³⁰ They did not want my counsel; they despised all my reproof,

²³ For the commandment is a lamp, and the law a light; and reproofs of instruction are a way of life,

¹⁷ He who heeds instruction is in the way of life, but he who refuses reproof is going astray.

¹ A man who hardens his neck when reproved shall be suddenly broken, and there will be no healing.

¹⁵ until is poured out on us the Spirit from on high, and the wilderness becomes a fruitful field; and the fruitful field is reckoned as a forest.

⁸ Drop down from above, O heavens; and let the clouds pour down righteousness. Let the earth open and let salvation bear fruit; and let righteousness sprout together. I, Jehovah have created it.

¹ Ho, everyone who thirsts, come to the water; and he who has no silver, come buy grain and eat. Yes, come buy grain, wine and milk without silver and with no price. ² Why do you weigh out silver for that which is not bread, and your labor for what never satisfies? Listen carefully to Me and eat the good; and let your soul delight itself in fatness. ³ Bend your ear and come to Me; hear, and your soul shall live; and I will cut a covenant everlasting with you, the faithful mercies of David.

⁶ Seek Jehovah while He may be found; call on Him while He is near. ⁷ Let the wicked forsake his way and the vain man his thoughts; and let him return to Jehovah, and He will have mercy on him; and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.

¹⁴ Return, O apostate sons, declares Jehovah; for I am Lord over you. And I will take you, one from a city, and two from a family, and I will bring you to Zion.

²⁷ And when the wicked turns from his wickedness that he has done and does justice and righteousness, he shall keep his soul alive. ²⁸ Because he considers and turns from all his transgressions that he has done, surely he shall live; he shall not die. ²⁹ But the house of Israel says, The way of the Lord is not fair. Are My ways not fair, O house of Israel? Is it not your ways that are not fair? ³⁰ I will judge you, each man by his ways, O house of Israel, declares the Lord Jehovah. Turn and be made to turn from all your transgressions, and iniquity shall not be a stumbling-block to you.

¹¹ Say to them, As I live, declares the Lord Jehovah, I do not have pleasure in the death of the wicked, except in the wicked turning from his way, and so to live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! For why will you die, O house of Israel?

¹ O Israel, return to Jehovah your God, for you have fallen by your sin.

²⁸ And it shall be afterward, I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh. And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.

¹⁰ And I will pour on the house of David, and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and of prayers. And they shall look on Me whom they have pierced; and they shall mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they shall be bitter over Him, like the bitterness over the first-born.

¹³ Then if you being evil know to give good gifts to your children, how much more the Father out of Heaven will give the Holy Spirit to those asking Him.

³⁶ What is this word which he said, You will seek Me and will not find Me, and, Where I am, you are not able to come? ³⁷ And in the last day of the great feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.

³⁶ Then assuredly, let all the house of Israel acknowledge that God made Him both Lord and Christ, this same Jesus whom you crucified. ³⁷ And hearing, they were stabbed in the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, Men, brothers, What shall we do? ³⁸ And Peter said to them, Repent and be baptized, each of you on the name of Jesus Christ to remission of sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

¹⁹ Therefore, repent, and convert, for the blotting out of your sins, so that times of refreshing may come from the face of the Lord,

²⁰ but to those first in Damascus, and Jerusalem, and to all the country of Judea, and to the nations, I announced the command to repent and to turn to God, doing works worthy of repentance.

¹⁶ So, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I am about to vomit you out of My mouth. ¹⁷ Because you say, I am rich, and I am made rich, and I have need of nothing, and do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked. ¹⁸ I advise you to buy from Me gold having been fired by fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, and your shame and nakedness may not be revealed. And anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. ¹⁹ I, as many "as I love, I rebuke and I chasten." Be zealous, then, and repent. Prov. 3:12

²⁰ In the secrecy of Your presence You shall hide them from man's plots; You shall cover them in a booth, from the strife of tongues.

² Who knows why I have come, and no one is here ? I called, and not one answered. Is My hand truly cut short from ransom? Or is there not power in Me to deliver? Behold, at My rebuke I dry up the sea; I make rivers a wilderness; their fish stink because of no water, and die in thirst.

¹² And I will number you to the sword; and you shall all bow down to the slaughter; because I called and you did not answer. I spoke, and you did not hear; and you did the evil in My eyes; and you chose that in which I had no pleasure.

⁴ I also will choose their vexations; and I will bring their fears to them; because I called, and no one answered; I spoke, and they did not hear. But they did the evil in My eyes, and chose that in which I had no pleasure.

¹³ And now, because you have done all these works, says Jehovah, and I spoke to you, rising up early and speaking, but you did not hear. Yea, I called you, but you did not answer.

¹⁸ And I also will deal with fury. My eye shall not spare, and I will not have pity. And though they cry in My ears with a loud voice, I will not hear them.

¹¹ But they refused to listen, and gave a stubborn shoulder, and they made their ears heavy from hearing. ¹² And they made their heart adamant from hearing the law and the words which Jehovah of hosts has sent by the former prophets through His Spirit. And great wrath was from Jehovah of hosts.

⁵ But not caring they went away, one to his own field, and one to his trading. ⁶ And the rest, seizing his slaves, insulted and killed them .

³⁷ Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one killing the prophets and stoning those sent to her. How often I desired to gather your children in the way a bird gathers her chicks under her wings! And you did not desire it. ³⁸ Behold, "your house is left to you desolate." Jer. 22:5

³⁰ in the extending of Your hand for healing and miracles and wonders to happen through the name of Your holy child Jesus.

²¹ But to Israel He says, "All the day I stretched out My hands to a disobeying and contradicting people." Isa. 65:2

²⁵ Watch that you do not refuse the One speaking; for if these did not escape who refused Him who divinely warned them on earth, much rather we, those turning away from Heaven; ²⁶ whose voice shook the earth then, but now He has promised, saying, "Yet once" "I will shake not only the earth, but also the heavens." Hag. 2:6

¹⁶ But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets until the wrath of Jehovah went up against His people, until there was no healing.

¹¹ But My people would not listen to My voice, and Israel did not consent to Me.

¹¹ because they rebelled against the words of God, and despised the counsel of the Most High;

³⁰ But the Pharisees and the lawyers set aside God's counsel as to themselves, not being baptized by him.

¹⁴ Go and cry to the gods which you have chosen; let them save you in the time of your distress.

⁴ He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; Jehovah shall mock at them.

¹³ the Lord laughs at him, for He sees that his day is coming.

¹⁵ On account of this, calamity shall come suddenly; he is broken quickly and there is no healing.

²⁴ That which the wicked fears shall come upon him, but the desire of the righteous is granted.

²⁴ For I say to you that not one of those men who had been invited shall taste of my supper.

⁹ Before your pots can feel the thorns, whether green or glowing, He shall sweep it away.

²² Let their table be a trap before them, and to those at ease a snare. ²³ Let their eyes be darkened from seeing, and cause their loins to quiver continually. ²⁴ Pour out Your wrath on them; and let the glow of Your anger overtake them. ²⁵ Let their home be made desolate; let no one dwell in their tents. ²⁶ For whom You have stricken, they have persecuted; and they gossip to the pain of those You pierced. ²⁷ Put iniquity to their iniquity, and do not let them enter into Your righteousness. ²⁸ Blot them out from the Book of Life; yea, let them not be written with the righteous.

²⁵ Do not be afraid of sudden terror, nor of the destruction of the wicked when it comes. ²⁶ For Jehovah shall be at your side, and He shall keep your foot from being caught.

²⁴ That which the wicked fears shall come upon him, but the desire of the righteous is granted. ²⁵ As the storm passes, so the wicked is not; but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.

¹³ The nations shall crash like the crashing of many waters, but He rebukes it, and it flees far away; yea, it is driven like the chaff of mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before a tempest.

³ Jehovah takes long to anger, and is great of power, and He does not by any means acquit the guilty . Jehovah has His way in the tempest and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of His feet.

²³ But woe to the pregnant women, and the ones suckling in those days; for great distress will be on the earth and wrath on this people. ²⁴ And they will fall by the mouth of the sword and will be led captive to all the nations. And Jerusalem will be trodden down by nations, until the times of the nations are fulfilled. ²⁵ And there will be signs in the sun and moon and stars. And on the earth will be anxiety of nations with bewilderment, roaring of sea and of surf, ²⁶ men fainting from fear, and expectation of the things coming on the earth. For the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

³⁴ But take heed to yourselves that your hearts not be loaded down with headaches, and drinking, and anxieties of life, and that day come suddenly upon you ³⁵ as a snare, for it will come in on all those sitting on the face of all the earth. Isa. 24:17

⁹ trouble and pain on every soul of man that works out evil, both of Jew first, and of Greek.

³ For when they say, Peace and safety! Then suddenly destruction comes upon them, like travail to the pregnant woman, and they shall not at all escape.

¹⁵ And the kings of the earth, and the great ones, and the rich ones, and the commanders, and the powerful ones, and every slave, and every freeman hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks of the mountains. ¹⁶ And "they said to the mountains" and to the rocks, "Fall on us," and hide us from the face of the One sitting on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, Hos. 10:8 ¹⁷ because the great day of His wrath has come; and who is able to stand?

³ And Jehovah said, My Spirit shall not always strive with man; in their erring he is flesh. And his days shall be a hundred and twenty years.

¹⁸ And you will cry out in that day because of your king whom you have chosen for yourselves. And Jehovah will not answer you in that day.

⁹ Will God hear his cry when distress comes upon him?

¹² There they cry, but He does not answer, because of the pride of evildoers.

⁴¹ They cried, but no one is there to save; to Jehovah, but He did not answer them.

³⁴ When He killed them, then they sought Him; and they turned and searched for God. ³⁵ So they remembered that God was their Rock, and the Most High God their Redeemer. ³⁶ But they flattered Him with their mouths, and with their tongues lied to Him.

¹⁵ And when you spread out your hands, I will hide My eyes from you. Yea, when you multiply prayer, I will not hear. Your hands are full of blood.

¹¹ So Jehovah says this: Behold, I will bring evil on them from which they shall not be able to escape. And though they cry to Me, I will not listen to them.

¹² I will not listen to their cry when they fast; and when they offer burnt offering and grain offering I will not accept them. But I will consume them by the sword, and by famine, and by the plague.

¹⁵ I will go; I will return to My place until they confess their guilt and seek My face. In their affliction they will seek Me diligently.

⁴ Then they shall cry out to Jehovah, but He will not answer them. He will even hide His face from them in that time, as they have done evil in their doings.

¹³ And it will be, just as He called, and they did not listen; so they called, and I did not listen, says Jehovah of hosts.

²² Many will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name do many works of power? ²³ And then I will declare to them, I never knew you; "depart from Me, those working lawlessness!" Psa. 6:8

¹⁰ But they going away to buy, the bridegroom came. And those ready went in with him to the wedding feast, and the door was shut. ¹¹ And afterwards, the rest of the virgins also came, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. ¹² But answering, he said, Truly I say to you, I do not know you.

²⁵ From the time the Master of the house shall have risen up, and He shuts the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. And answering, He will say to you, I do not know you. From where are you? ²⁶ Then you will begin to say, We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets. ²⁷ And He will say, I tell you I do not know you, from where you are. "Stand back from Me all workers of unrighteousness!" Psa. 6:8 ²⁸ There will be weeping and gnashing of the teeth when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but yourselves being thrust outside.

³ You ask, and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, in order that you may spend on your lusts.

¹⁴ And they say to God, Depart from us, for we do not desire the knowledge of Your ways. ¹⁵ What is the Almighty, that we should serve Him? And what do we profit if we entreat Him?

¹⁶ But to the wicked, God says, What is it to you to proclaim My statutes, and to take up My covenant on your mouth? ¹⁷ Yea, you hate instruction, and toss My words behind you?

¹¹ When its boughs dry up, they are broken off. Women shall come and burn them, for it is a people with no understanding. On account of this His Maker shall not pity him, and His Former will not favor him.

⁹ that this is a rebellious people, lying sons; sons who are not willing to hear the law of Jehovah; ¹⁰ who say to the seers, Do not see; and to visioners, Do not have a vision for right things to us; speak smooth things to us; have a vision of trifles. ¹¹ Turn aside from the way; stretch from the path; cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us. ¹² For this reason, so says the Holy One of Israel, Because of your rejection of this word, and your trust in oppression and perversity, even resting on it;

⁴² But there is need of only one; and Mary chose the good part, which shall not be taken from her.

⁵¹ Oh stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and in the ears! You always fell against the Holy Spirit. As your fathers did, you also did . ⁵² Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? And they killed those who before announced the coming of the Just One, of whom you now have become betrayers and murderers, ⁵³ who received the Law by the disposition of angels and did not keep it . ⁵⁴ And hearing these things, they were cut to their hearts and gnashed the teeth on him.

²⁵ having chosen rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than for a time to have enjoyment of sin;

¹¹¹ I have inherited Your testimonies forever; for they are the rejoicing of my heart.

¹⁷³ Let Your hand help me; for I have chosen Your precepts

⁹ The wise are ashamed; they are terrified and are captured. Behold, they have rejected the word of Jehovah, and what wisdom is theirs?

¹⁸ And all with one mind began to beg off. The first said to him, I have bought a field, and I have need to go out and see it; I ask you, have me excused. ¹⁹ And another said, I bought five yoke of oxen and I am going to try them out; I ask you, have me excused. ²⁰ And another said, I married a wife, and for this reason I am not able to come.

⁸ As I have seen, the ones who plow iniquity and sow misery reap the same.

¹⁴ The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways, but a good man from himself.

⁸ He who sows injustice will reap evil, and the rod of his wrath shall fail.

¹⁰ Say to the righteous that it is well; for they shall eat of the fruit of their doings. ¹¹ Woe to the wicked! For the evil, the doing of his hand will be done to him.

¹⁹ Your own wickedness shall correct you, and your apostasies shall reprove you. Know, then, and see that your forsaking Jehovah your God is evil and bitter; and My fear is not in you, declares the Lord Jehovah of hosts.

¹⁹ Hear, O earth, behold! I will bring evil on this people, the fruit of their thoughts. For they have not listened to My words, and My law; they also rejected it.

⁷ Do not be deceived, God is not mocked. For whatever a man may sow, that he also will reap. ⁸ For the one sowing to his flesh will reap corruption of the flesh. But the one sowing to the Spirit will reap everlasting life from the Spirit.

¹⁵ But Jeshurun grew fat, and kicked; you grew fat, thick and sated. And he abandoned God who made him, and fell away from the Rock of his salvation. ¹⁶ With strange gods they moved Him to jealousy; and with idols they provoked Him to anger. ¹⁷ They sacrificed to demons who were not God, to gods whom they did not know, new ones who came lately. Your fathers had not dreaded them. ¹⁸ You forgot the Rock that brought you into being and ceased to care for God who formed you. ¹⁹ And Jehovah looked and despised them because of the provocation of His sons and of His daughters. ²⁰ And He said, I will hide My face from them; I will see what their end will be; for they are a perverse generation, sons in whom is no faithfulness. ²¹ They made Me jealous with a no-god; they made Me angry by their vanities; and I shall make them jealous by a no-people; by a foolish nation I shall make them angry. ²² For a fire has been kindled in My anger, and it burns to the lowest Sheol, and consumes the earth and its produce; and sets on fire the foundations of the mountains. ²³ I will heap evils on them; I will use up My arrows on them. ²⁴ I will send on them exhaustion by famine, and depletion by burning heat, and bitter destruction, and the teeth of beasts, with the venom of crawling things of the dust. ²⁵ The sword shall bereave from without, and terror from within, both the young man and the virgin, the suckling with the man of gray hairs. ²⁶ I said, I will dash them to pieces; I will make their memory cease from among men; ²⁷ saying, Were it not the provocation of an enemy I feared, that their foes should judge amiss, that they might not say, Our hand is high, and Jehovah has not done all this. ²⁸ For they are a nation void of counsel, and no understanding is in them. ²⁹ If they were wise, they would understand this; they would consider their latter end. ³⁰ How could one chase a thousand, and two put a myriad to flight, if it were not their Rock that sold them, and Jehovah had shut them up? ³¹ For their rock is not our Rock, even our enemies being judges. ³² For their vine is of the vine of Sodom, and their grapes of the fields of Gomorrah, grapes of gall; they have bitter clusters. ³³ Their wine is the venom of serpents, and the cruel venom of asps. ³⁴ Is it not stored up with Me, sealed in My treasuries? ³⁵ Vengeance and retribution belong to Me; in due time their foot will slip; for the day of their calamity is near, and the things prepared are hurrying for them. ³⁶ For Jehovah will bring His people justice; and He shall have compassion on His servants, for He sees that their power is gone, and only the imprisoned and abandoned remain . ³⁷ And He will say, Where are their gods, the rock in which they sought refuge? ³⁸ Who ate the fat of their sacrifices, and drank the wine of their drink offerings? Let them rise up and help you; let it be a hiding place for you. ³⁹ See now that I, I am He, and there is no other God with Me. I kill, and I keep alive. I wound and I heal, and there is no deliverer from My hand. ⁴⁰ For I lift up My hand to Heaven and say, I live forever! ⁴¹ If I have sharpened My glittering sword, and My hand lays hold on judgment, I will render vengeance to My foes, and I will repay those who hate Me. ⁴² I will make My arrows drunk with blood, and My sword shall devour flesh, with the blood of the slain and of the captives, from the hairy head of the enemy. ⁴³ Rejoice, O nations, of His people; for He shall avenge the blood of His servants, and shall render vengeance to His foes, and shall have mercy on His land and His people. ⁴⁴ And Moses came and spoke all the words of this song in the ears of the people, he and Joshua the son of Nun.

²² Let their table be a trap before them, and to those at ease a snare.

⁶ An animal-like man does not know; a fool does not understand this. ⁷ When the wicked flourish like grass, and all the evildoers blossom, it is for them to be destroyed forever.

³⁶ But he who sins against me does violence to his own soul; all who hate me love death.

¹¹ Moab has been at ease from his youth, and he has settled on his lees and has not been emptied from vessel to vessel. He has not gone into captivity. So his taste remains in him, and his scent is not changed. ¹² So, behold, the days come, declares Jehovah, that I will send pourers to him, who shall pour him off, and shall empty his vessels, and break their jars in pieces.

¹⁶ And He spoke a parable to them, saying, A certain rich man produced well from the land. ¹⁷ And he reasoned within himself, saying, What may I do, for I have nowhere I may gather my fruits? ¹⁸ And he said, I will do this; I will tear down my barns and I will build larger; and I will gather there all my produce and my goods. ¹⁹ And I will say to my soul, Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take rest, eat, drink, and be glad. ²⁰ But God said to him, Fool! This night they demand your soul from you; and that which you prepared, to whom will it be? ²¹ So is he treasuring up for himself, and not being rich toward God.

¹⁹ And there was a certain rich man; and he was accustomed to don a purple robe and fine linen, making merry in luxury day by day. ²⁰ And there was a certain poor one named Lazarus who had been laid at his porch, being plagued by sores, ²¹ and longing to be filled from the crumbs that were falling from the table of the rich one. But coming, even the dogs licked his sores. ²² And it happened, the poor one died and was carried away by the angels into the bosom of Abraham. And the rich one also died and was buried. ²³ And being in torments in Hell, lifting up his eyes, he sees Abraham afar off and Lazarus in his bosoms. ²⁴ And calling he said, Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, for I am suffering in this flame. ²⁵ But Abraham said, Child, remember that you fully received your good things in your lifetime, and Lazarus likewise the bad things. But now he is comforted, and you are suffering.

³⁶ The one believing into the Son has everlasting life; but the one disobeying the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.

³⁸ "But the just shall live by faith;" "and if he draws back," "My soul is not pleased in him." Hab. 2:4 ³⁹ But we are not of those withdrawing to destruction, but of faith, to the preservation of the soul.

⁸ But if you are without discipline, of which all have become sharers, then you are bastards, and not sons.

²⁵ Watch that you do not refuse the One speaking; for if these did not escape who refused Him who divinely warned them on earth, much rather we, those turning away from Heaven;

⁵ You lived luxuriously on the earth, and lived in self gratification; you nourished your hearts as in a day of slaughter;

¹² What man is he who fears Jehovah? He teaches him the way he should choose. ¹³ His soul shall abide in good, and his seed shall inherit the earth.

¹³ Oh if My people had listened to me! If Israel had walked in My ways,

⁷ He shall not be afraid of evil news; his heart is fixed, trusting in Jehovah. ⁸ His heart is upheld; he shall not be afraid though he looks on his foes.

²¹ My son, do not let them depart from your eyes; keep sound wisdom and judgment, ²² and they shall be life to your soul, and grace to your neck; ²³ then you shall walk in your way safely, and your foot shall not stumble. ²⁴ When you lie down, you shall not dread; yea, you shall lie down and your sleep shall be sweet.

³² And now listen to me, O sons, for blessed are those who keep my ways. ³³ Hear instruction, and be wise, and do not refuse it. ³⁴ Blessed is the man listening to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. ³⁵ For whoever finds me finds life, and he shall obtain favor from Jehovah.

¹¹ For by me your days shall be multiplied, and the years of your life shall be increased.

²⁶ In the fear of Jehovah is strong trust, and His sons shall have a hiding place.

³ You will keep in perfect peace the mind stayed on You, for he trusts in You.

¹⁸ Oh that you had listened to My commands! Then your peace would have been like the river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea.

³ Bend your ear and come to Me; hear, and your soul shall live; and I will cut a covenant everlasting with you, the faithful mercies of David.

⁵ While he was yet speaking, behold, a radiant cloud overshadowed them. And, behold, a voice out of the cloud saying, This is My Son, the Beloved, in whom I delight; hear Him. Psa. 2:7; Gen. 22:2; Isa. 42:1; Deut. 18:15

⁹ And when you hear of wars and disturbances, do not be afraid. For these things must first occur, but the end is not at once.

¹⁹ By your patience you will gain your souls.

²⁷ My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. ²⁸ And I give eternal life to them, and they shall never perish to the age, and not anyone shall pluck them out of My hand. ²⁹ My Father who has given them to Me is greater than all, and no one is able to pluck out of My Father's hand.

³⁵ Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? ³⁶ Even as it has been written, "For Your sake we are killed all the day; we are counted as sheep of slaughter." Psa. 44:22 ³⁷ But in all these things we more than conquer through Him loving us. ³⁸ For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, ³⁹ nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus, our Lord.

⁵ by the power of God, having been guarded through faith to a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time;
