² Like a sharp razor, your tongue devises ruin, working deceit.

¹⁹ You give your mouth to evil, and your tongue frames deceit.

⁴ My soul is among lions; I lie among those on fire, the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.

⁷ Behold, they bellow with their mouth; swords are in their lips; for they say, Who hears?

² Hide me from the council of those who injure, from the tumult of evildoers, ³ who sharpen their tongue like a sword; they tread their arrows, a bitter word, ⁴ so that they may shoot at the innocent from a lurking place; suddenly they shoot at him, and fear not. ⁵ They make themselves strong in an evil plan; they talk of laying snares secretly; they say, Who shall see them? ⁶ They search into injustice, saying, We have finished a well laid plan. Yea, the inward part of man and the heart are deep!

² for the mouth of the wicked, and the deceitful mouth, are opened against me; they spoke against me with a lying tongue.

² O Jehovah, deliver my soul from lying lips, from a deceitful tongue.

² who devises evil things in the heart; they gather wars all the day. ³ They sharpen their tongues like a snake; adders' poison is under their lips. Selah.

¹⁶ These six things Jehovah hates; yea, seven are hateful to his soul; ¹⁷ a proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, ¹⁸ a heart that plots evil plans, feet hurrying to run to mischief, ¹⁹ a false witness who breathes lies, and he who causes strife among brothers.

¹⁸ There is a rash speaking like thrusts of a sword, but the tongue of the wise heals.

²¹ Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it shall eat its fruit.

¹⁴ a generation whose teeth are like swords, and its jaw teeth like knives, to devour the poor from the earth, and the needy from among men.

³ And they bend their tongues, their bow is a lie. And they are not mighty for the truth on the earth, for they go from evil to evil. They also do not know Me, says Jehovah. ⁴ Let everyone be on guard against his neighbor, and do not trust any brother. For every brother will supplant, and every neighbor will walk as a slanderer.

¹⁸ Then they said, Come and let us plot schemes against Jeremiah. For the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor word from the prophet. Come and let us strike him with the tongue, and let us not listen to any of his words.

⁵⁹ And the chief priests and the elders and the whole sanhedrin looked for false testimony against Jesus, so that they might put Him to death,

¹¹ Then they induced some men to be saying, We have heard him speaking blasphemous words against Moses and God! ¹² And they stirred up the people and the elders and the scribes. And coming on, they together seized him and led him into the sanhedrin. ¹³ And they stood up false witnesses, who were saying, This man does not cease speaking blasphemous words against this holy place and the Law;

¹ And after five days Ananias the high priest came down with the elders, and a certain orator, Tertullus, who made a statement to the governor against Paul.

⁵ For finding this man pestilent and moving insurrection among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the Nazarene sect;

² But we have renounced the hidden things of shame, not walking in craftiness, nor adulterating the word of God, but by the revelation of the truth commending ourselves to every conscience of men before God.

¹³ For such ones are false apostles, deceitful workers transforming themselves into apostles of Christ.

¹⁰ And I heard a great voice saying in Heaven, Now has come the salvation and power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of His Christ, because the accuser of our brothers is thrown down, the one accusing them before our God day and night.
