¹³ Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking guile;

¹ To the chief musician, to Jeduthun. A Psalm of David. I said, I will keep my ways from sinning with my tongue; I will keep my mouth with a muzzle while the wicked are before me.

¹¹ Covetings are in her midst; oppression and guile will not depart from her streets.

³ O Jehovah, set a guard to my mouth; keep watch on the door of my lips.

⁷ Overthrow the wicked, and they are not; but the house of the righteous stands.

¹⁹ The lips of truth are established forever, but a lying tongue is only while I wink.

²² Lying lips are hateful to Jehovah, but those who deal faithfulness are His delight.

³ He who guards his mouth keeps his life; he who opens his lips wide is ruined.

²¹ Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it shall eat its fruit.

⁹ A false witness shall not be acquitted; yea, he who speaks lies shall perish.

²³ Whoever keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul from distresses.

⁸ For He said, Surely they are My people, sons that do not lie, and He is their Savior.

³⁵ The good man out of the good treasure of the heart puts forth good things. And the evil man out of the evil treasure puts forth evil things. ³⁶ But I say to you, that every idle word, whatever men may speak, they shall give an account of it in Judgment Day. ³⁷ For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.

⁹ Do not lie to one another, having put off the old man with his practices,

¹⁹ So that, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath.

²⁶ If anyone thinks to be religious among you, yet not bridling his tongue, but deceiving his heart, this one's religion is vain.

² For we all stumble in many ways . If any one does not stumble in word, this one is a mature man, able also to bridle the whole body.

⁵ So also the tongue is a little member, and boasts great things. Behold, how little a fire kindles how large a forest! ⁶ And the tongue is a fire, the world of iniquity. So the tongue is set among our members, spotting all the body, and inflaming the course of nature, and having been inflamed by Hell. ⁷ For every species of beasts, both indeed of birds, of creeping things, and of sea animals, is tamed, and has been tamed by the human species; ⁸ but no one of men is able to tame the tongue; it is an evil that cannot be restrained, full of death-dealing poison. ⁹ By this we bless God and the Father; and by this we curse men having come into being according to the image of God. Gen. 1:26 ¹⁰ Out of the same mouth comes forth blessing and cursing. My brothers it is not fitting for these things to be so.

¹ Then having laid aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil words,

²² "who did not sin, nor was guile found in His mouth;" Isa. 53:9

⁴ These are the ones who were not defiled with women, for they are virgins. These are the ones following the Lamb wherever He may go. These were redeemed from among men as a firstfruit to God and to the Lamb. ⁵ And no guile was found in their mouth, for they are without blemish before the throne of God.
