²² Of the sons of Simeon, their generations, by their families, by their fathers' house, his numbered ones in the number of names, by their heads, every male from a son of twenty years and upward, everyone able to go out to war:

³³ And she conceived again and bore a son, and said, Surely Jehovah has heard that I am hated and has given this one to me also. And she called his name Simeon.

²⁵ And it happened on the third day, they being pained, that the two sons of Jacob, Simeon and Levi, Dinah's brothers, each took his sword. And they came on the city in its security, and killed every male. ²⁶ And they killed Hamor and his son Shechem with the sword. And they took Dinah from the house of Shechem, and left. ²⁷ The sons of Jacob came on the slain and plundered the city, because they had defiled their sister. ²⁸ They took their flocks and their herds and their asses, and whatever was in the city, and whatever was in the field. ²⁹ And they took all their wealth, and all their little ones, and their wives, and looted all that was in the house. ³⁰ And Jacob said to Simeon and to Levi, You have troubled me, to make me stink among the inhabitants of the land, among the Canaanites, and among the Perizzites. And I being few in number, and they gathering against me, they will strike me, and I and my house shall be wasted.

²⁴ And he turned away from them and wept, and returned to them and spoke to them. And he took Simeon from them and bound him before their eyes.

¹⁰ And the sons of Simeon: Jemuel, and Jamin, and Ohad, and Jachin, and Zohar, and Shaul, the son of a Canaanitess.

⁵ Simeon and Levi, brothers; their weapons are instruments of violence. ⁶ Let not my soul come into their counsel; let not my spirit be joined to their company. For in their anger they killed a man; and in selfwill they hamstrung a bull.

¹² And those that encamp next to him shall be the tribe of Simeon; the ruler of the sons of Simeon being Shelumiel the son of Zurishaddai. ¹³ And his army, and those numbered of them were fifty nine thousand and three hundred.

¹² The sons of Simeon according to their families: of Nemuel, the family of the Nemuelites; of Jamin, the family of the Jaminites; of Jachin, the family of the Jachinites; ¹³ of Zerah, the family of the Zarahites; of Shaul, the family of the Shaulites. ¹⁴ These are the families of the Simeonites, twenty two thousand, two hundred.
