¹⁹ And he blessed him and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of Heaven and earth;

²² And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lifted up my hand to Jehovah, the most high God, the possessor of Heaven and earth,

¹⁴ Behold, the heavens and the heavens of the heavens, the earth and all in it, belong to Jehovah your God. ¹⁵ Only, Jehovah has delighted in your fathers, to love them; and He chose their seed after them, on you out of all the peoples, as today.

¹⁸ And Samuel was serving before Jehovah, a boy girded with an ephod of linen.

⁴ And Jehovah called to Samuel. And he said, Behold, I am here. ⁵ And he ran to Eli and said, Behold, I am here. For you have called to me. And he said, I did not call. Go back and lie down. And he went and lay down. ⁶ and Jehovah again called Samuel. And Samuel rose up and went to Eli and said, Behold, I am here, for you have called me. And he said, I have not called, my son. Go back and lie down. ⁷ And Samuel did not yet know Jehovah, and the word of Jehovah had not yet been revealed to him. ⁸ And Jehovah again called Samuel, the third time. And he rose up and went to Eli and said, Behold, I am here, for you have called me. And Eli understood at Jehovah was calling the boy. ⁹ And Eli said to Samuel, Go, lie down; and it shall be, if One calls you, even you shall say, Speak, O Jehovah, for Your servant hears you. And Samuel lay down in his place. ¹⁰ And Jehovah came and stood, and called as the other times, Samuel, Samuel! And Samuel said, Speak, for Your servant hears You. ¹¹ And Jehovah said to Samuel, Behold! I am doing a thing in Israel at which the two ears of every one hearing it shall tingle. ¹² In that day I will confirm to Eli all that I have spoken to his house, beginning and making an end. ¹³ And I declare to him that I am judging his house forever, for the iniquity which he has known; for his sons have been making themselves vile, and he has not restrained them. ¹⁴ And so I have sworn to the house of Eli, the iniquity of the house of Eli shall not be atoned for, by sacrifice or by offering, until forever. ¹⁵ And Samuel lay until the morning. And he opened the doors of the house of Jehovah. And Samuel was afraid to tell the vision to Eli. ¹⁶ And Eli called Samuel and said, Samuel, my son. And he said, Behold, I am here . ¹⁷ And he said, What is the word which He has spoken to you? Please do not hide it from me. May God do so to you, and more also, if you keep back anything from me of all the words that He spoke to you. ¹⁸ And Samuel told him all the words, and did not hide from him. And he said, It is Jehovah; He does which is good in His eyes. ¹⁹ And Samuel grew up, and Jehovah was with him, and did not let any of his words fall to the earth. ²⁰ And all Israel knew, from Dan even to Beersheba, that Samuel was confirmed to be a prophet to Jehovah. ²¹ And Jehovah again appeared in Shiloh. For Jehovah revealed Himself to Samuel in Shiloh, by the word of Jehovah.

¹⁵ And Hezekiah prayed before Jehovah, and said, O Jehovah the God of Israel, who sits above the cherubs, You are God Himself, You alone, to all the kingdoms of the earth; You have made the heavens and the earth.

¹³ And now, our God, we are giving thanks to You, and giving praise to Your glorious name;

² Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings, You have ordained strength, because of Your tormenters, to cause the enemy and the avenger to cease.

²¹ Woe to those wise in their own eyes, and discerning in their own sight!

¹⁰ for Jehovah has poured out on you the spirit of deep sleep, and has closed your eyes. He has covered the prophets and your heads, the seers. ¹¹ And the whole vision to you is like the words of a sealed hook which they give to one knowing books, saying, Please read this. Then he says, I am not able, for it is sealed. ¹² And the hook is given to one who does not know books, saying, Please read this. Then he says, I do not know books. ¹³ And the Lord says, Because this people draws near with its mouth, and they honor Me with its lip; but its heart is far from Me, and their fear of Me is taught by the command of men; ¹⁴ So, behold, I am adding to do a wonders with this people, the wonder, even a wonder. For the wisdom of his wise ones shall perish, and the wit of his witty ones shall be hidden.

¹⁸ And in that day the deaf shall hear the words of a book; and the eyes of the blind shall see out of their gloom and out of darkness. ¹⁹ And the humble ones shall increase joy in Jehovah, and the poor among men shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.

¹ So says Jehovah: Heaven is My throne, and earth the footstool of My feet. Where then is the house that you build for Me? And where then is the place of My rest?

⁵ I knew you before I formed you in the belly; and before you came out of the womb, I consecrated you. I appointed you a prophet to the nations. ⁶ Then I said, Ah, Lord Jehovah! Behold, I do not know how to speak for I am a boy. ⁷ But Jehovah said to me, Do not say, I am a boy; for you shall go to all that I shall send you. And whatever I command you, you shall speak. ⁸ Do not be afraid of their faces, for I am with you to deliver you, says Jehovah.

²³ I thank You and praise You, O God of my fathers, who has given me wisdom and might, and has made me know what we ask of You. For You have revealed to us the king's matter.

³⁵ And all the inhabitants of the earth are counted as nothing. And He does according to His will among the army of Heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth. And no one is able to strike His hand or say to Him, What are You doing?

¹¹ And answering, He said to them, Because it has been given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of Heaven, but it has not been given to those. ¹² For whoever has, to him will be given, and he will have overabundance. But whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken from him. ¹³ Because of this, I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand. ¹⁴ And the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled on them, which says, "In hearing you will hear and in no way understand, and seeing you will see yet in no way perceive. ¹⁵ For the heart of this people has grown fat, and they heard sluggishly with the ears, and they have closed their eyes, that they not see with the eyes, or hear with the ears, and understand with the heart, and be converted, and I heal them." LXX-Isa. 6:9, 10 ¹⁶ But your eyes are blessed because they see; and your ears because they hear.

¹⁷ And answering, Jesus said to him, Blessed are you, Simon, son of Jonah, for flesh and blood did not reveal it to you, but My Father in Heaven.

³ And He said, Truly I say to you, Unless you convert and become as the little children, not at all can you enter into the kingdom of Heaven. ⁴ Then whoever will humble himself as this little child, this one is the greater in the kingdom of Heaven.

¹⁶ And they said to Him, Do you hear what these say? And Jesus said to them, Yes. Did you never read, "Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings You have perfected praise?" LXX-Psa. 8:3; MT-Psa. 8:2

¹⁰ And when He was alone, those around Him, with the Twelve, asked Him as to the parable. ¹¹ And He said to them, To you has been given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God. But to these, those outside, all things are being given in parables, ¹² that seeing they may see and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand, lest they should convert, and the sins be forgiven to them. Isa. 6:9, 10

¹⁴ But seeing, Jesus was indignant. And He said to them, Allow the children to come to Me, and do not hinder them. For of such is the kingdom of God. ¹⁵ Truly I say to you, Whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a child may in no way enter into it. ¹⁶ And having taken them in His arms, laying hands on them, He blessed them.

²¹ In the same hour Jesus rejoiced in the Spirit, and said, I praise You, Father, Lord of Heaven and of earth, that You hid these things from the sophisticated and cunning and revealed them to babes; yes, Father, because so it was pleasing before You. ²² All things were delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father; and who is the Father, except the Son, and he to whom the Son may desire to reveal Him . ²³ And having turned to the disciples alone, He said, Blessed are the eyes seeing what you see. ²⁴ For I say to you that many prophets and kings desired to see what you see, and did not see, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear.

⁴² saying, Father, if You will, take away this cup from Me; but let not My will be done, but Your will .

⁴⁸ Not any from the rulers or from the Pharisees believed into him? ⁴⁹ But not knowing the Law, this crowd is cursed.

³⁹ And Jesus said, I came into this world for judgment, that the ones who do not see may see, and they who see may become blind. ⁴⁰ And those of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these things, and said to Him, Are we also blind? ⁴¹ Jesus said to them, If you were blind, you would have no sin. But now you say, We see; therefore, your sin remains.

⁴¹ Then they lifted the stone where the dead one was laid. And Jesus lifted His eyes upward and said, Father, I thank You that You heard Me.

³⁸ so that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he said, "Lord, who has believed our report? And the arm of the Lord, to whom was it revealed?" Isa. 53:1 ³⁹ Because of this they could not believe, because Isaiah said again, ⁴⁰ "He has blinded their eyes" and "has hardened their heart," "that they might not see with the eyes" and "understand with the heart," "and be converted," "and I should heal them." Isa. 6:10

²⁴ The God who made the world and all things in it, this One being Lord of Heaven and of earth, does not dwell in handmade temples,

⁸ even as it has been written, "God gave to them a spirit of slumber, eyes not seeing and ears not hearing" until this day. Isa. 29:10; Deut. 29:4 ⁹ And David said, "Let their table become for a snare and a trap, and for a stumbling block," and a repayment to them; ¹⁰ "let their eyes be darkened, not to see, and their back always bowing." LXX-68:23, 24; MT-Psa. 69:22, 23

¹⁸ For the word of the cross is foolishness to those being lost, but to us being saved, it is the power of God. ¹⁹ For it has been written, "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will set aside the understanding of the understanding ones." Isa. 29:14 ²⁰ Where is the wise? Where the scribe? Where the lawyer of this world? Did God not make the wisdom of this world foolish? ²¹ For since in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom did not know God, God was pleased through the foolishness of preaching to save the ones believing. ²² And since Jews ask for a sign, and Greeks seek wisdom, ²³ we on the other hand preach Christ crucified (truly an offense to Jews, and foolishness to Greeks), ²⁴ but to the called-out ones, both to Jews and to Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God; ²⁵ because the foolish thing of God is wiser than men, and the weak thing of God is stronger than men. ²⁶ For you see your calling, brothers, that there are not many wise according to flesh, nor many powerful, not many wellborn. ²⁷ But God chose the foolish things of the world that the wise might be put to shame, and God chose the weak things of the world so that He might put to shame the strong things. ²⁸ And God chose the low-born of the world, and the despised, and the things that are not, so that He might bring to nothing the things that are, ²⁹ so that no flesh might glory in His presence.

⁶ But we speak wisdom among the perfect, but not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, those being brought to nothing. ⁷ But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, having been hidden, which God predetermined before the ages for our glory, ⁸ which none of the rulers of this age has known. For if they had known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory;

¹⁸ Let no one deceive himself, if anyone thinks to be wise among you in this age, let him become foolish, that he may become wise. ¹⁹ For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God; for it has been written, "He takes the wise in their own craftiness." Job 5:13 ²⁰ And again, " The Lord knows the reasonings of the wise, that they are worthless." LXX-Psa. 93:11; MT-Psa. 94:11

¹⁴ But their thoughts were hardened, for until the present the same veil remains on the reading of the Old Covenant, not being unveiled, that it is being done away in Christ.

³ But also if our gospel is being hidden, it has been hidden in those being lost, ⁴ in whom the god of this age has blinded the thoughts of the unbelieving, so that the brightness of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not dawn on them. ⁵ For we do not proclaim ourselves, but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves your slaves for the sake of Jesus. ⁶ Because it is God who said, "Out of darkness Light shall shine," who shone in our hearts to give the brightness of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. Isa. 42:6, 7, 16

¹³ But we ought to thank God always concerning you, brothers, beloved by the Lord, because God chose you from the beginning to salvation in sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth, ¹⁴ to which He called you through our gospel, to obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
