⁵ But they never follow a stranger, but will flee from him, because they do not know the voice of the strangers.

⁷ And Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of Jehovah besides, that we might inquire of him?

²⁷ My son, cease to hear the discipline, and you will err from the words of knowledge.

²⁴ And He said to them, Be careful what you hear. With what measure you measure, it will be measured to you; and more will be given to you, the ones hearing.

¹⁸ Then observe how you hear; for whoever may have, it will be given to him; and whoever may not have, even what he seems to have will be taken from him.

¹¹ And indeed He gave some to be apostles; and some prophets; and some evangelists; and some pastors and teachers; ¹² with a view to the perfecting of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the building up of the body of Christ, ¹³ until we all may come to the unity of the faith and of the full knowledge of the Son of God, to a full-grown man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, ¹⁴ so that we may no longer be infants, having been blown and carried to and fro by every wind of doctrine, in the underhandedness of men, in craftiness with a view to the trickery of error, ¹⁵ but speaking the truth in love, we may grow up into Him in all things, who is the head, the Christ,

⁶ Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in Him, ⁷ having been rooted and built up in Him, and having been confirmed in the faith, even as you were taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. ⁸ Watch that there not be one robbing you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the elements of the world, and not according to Christ. ⁹ For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; ¹⁰ and having been filled, you are in Him, who is the Head of all rule and authority,

⁵ having a form of godliness, but denying the power of it; even turn away from these. ⁶ For of these are those creeping into houses and leading silly women captive, the ones having been heaped with sins, being led away by various lusts, ⁷ always learning, but never being able to come to a full knowledge of the truth.

³ For a time will be when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own lusts, they will heap up to themselves teachers tickling the ear;

¹ Then having laid aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil words, ² as newborn babes desire the pure soul-nourishing milk, that you may grow by it; ³ if indeed you "tasted" "that the Lord is good;" LXX-Psa. 33:9; MT-Psa. 34:8

¹⁹ They went out from us, but they were not of us. For if they were of us, they would have remained with us; but they left so that it might be revealed that they all are not of us.

²¹ I did not write to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and because every lie is not of the truth.

⁵ They are of the world; because of this they speak of the world, and the world hears them. ⁶ We are of God; the one knowing God hears us. Whoever is not of God does not hear us. From this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

² I know your works, and your labor, and your patience, and that you cannot bear evil ones; and you tried those pretending to be apostles and are not, and found them to be liars.
