¹ The word of Jehovah that was to Jeremiah the prophet against the Philistines, before Pharaoh struck Gaza.

¹⁹ And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as you come to Gerar, as far as Gaza, as you go in towards Sodom and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, even to Lasha.

¹⁵ The poles shall be in the rings of the ark; they shall not depart from it. ¹⁶ And you shall put the testimony into the ark, which I shall give to you. ¹⁷ And you shall make a mercyseat of pure gold, its length two and a half cubits, and its width a cubit and a half.

²⁴ For he had the rule over all on this side of the River, from Tiphsah even to Azzah, over all the kings on this side of the River. And he had peace on all sides from around him.

²⁰ and all the mixed people, and all the kings of the land of Uz, and all the kings of the land of the Philistines, and Askelon, and Gaza, and Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod,

⁶ So says Jehovah: For three transgressions of Gaza, and for four, I will not turn back from it, for they deported as exiles to deliver up a complete population to Edom. ⁷ But I will send a fire against the wall of Gaza, and it shall devour its palaces. ⁸ And I will cut off Ashdod's dwellers and him who holds the scepter from Ashkelon; and I will turn My hand against Ekron; and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish, says the Lord Jehovah.

⁴ For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a ruin. They shall drive Ashdod out at the noonday, and Ekron shall be rooted up. ⁵ Woe to the inhabitants of the seacoast, the nation of the Cherethites! The word of Jehovah is against you, Canaan, the land of the Philistines; I will destroy you so there not shall be an inhabitant. ⁶ And the seacoast shall be pastures, meadows of shepherds, and folds for the flock. ⁷ And the coast shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah; they shall feed on them. In the houses of Ashkelon, they shall lie down in the evening, for Jehovah their God shall visit them and return their captivity.

⁵ Ashkelon shall see and fear; Gaza also shall writhe in great pain; and Ekron shall be ashamed for her hope. And the king shall perish from Gaza, and Ashkelon shall not be inhabited. ⁶ And a bastard shall dwell in Ashdod, and I will cut off the pride of the Philistines. ⁷ And I will take away his bloods out of his mouth, and his abominations from between his teeth. But the remnant, even he, shall be for our God. And he shall be as a governor in Judah, and Ekron, like a Jebusite.
