¹ Woe to the crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim, whose glorious beauty is a fading flower on the head of the fat valley of those who are overcome with wine! ² Behold, the Lord is a mighty and strong one; like a hailstorm, a destroying storm; like a storm of mighty waters overflowing; He sets down to the earth by hand. ³ The crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim shall be trampled down. ⁴ And the glorious beauty which is on the head of the fat valley shall be a fading flower, like the first ripe fig before summer which the seeing one sees; while it is yet in his hand, he swallows it. ⁵ In that day Jehovah of Hosts shall become a crown of glory and a diadem of beauty to the rest of His people, ⁶ and a spirit of justice to him who sits on the judgment seat; and for might to those turning back the battle toward the gate. ⁷ But they also have gone astray by wine, and have erred through fermented drink; priest and prophet have erred through fermented drink; they have been swallowed by wine; they strayed from fermented drink; they err in seeing; they stumble in judgment; ⁸ for all tables are full of vomit and filth, without a clean place. ⁹ Whom shall He teach knowledge? And to whom shall He explain the message? Those weaned from milk, those moving from breasts? ¹⁰ For precept must be on precept, precept on precept; line on line, line on line; here a little, there a little. ¹¹ For with stammering lip and another tongue, He will speak to this people; ¹² to whom He said, This is the rest; cause the weary to rest. Also, This is the repose. But they willed not to hear. ¹³ Yet the word of Jehovah was to them, precept on precept, precept on precept; line on line, line on line; here a little, there a little; that they might go, and stumble, and be broken, and snared, and taken. ¹⁴ So hear the word of Jehovah, scornful men, rulers of this people in Jerusalem. ¹⁵ Because you have said, We have cut a covenant with death; and, We have made a vision with Sheol, when the overwhelming rod passes through it will not come to us for we have made the lie our refuge, and we have hidden in falsehood. ¹⁶ So, the Lord Jehovah says this: Behold, I place in Zion a Stone for a foundation, a tried Stone, a precious Cornerstone, a sure Foundation; he who believes shall not hurry. ¹⁷ And I will lay justice for a line, and righteousness for a plummet; and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of the lie; and the waters shall overflow the hiding place. ¹⁸ And your covenant with death shall be covered; and your vision with Sheol shall not rise up. When the overwhelming whip passes through, then you shall be for a trampling to it. ¹⁹ As often as it passes, it shall take you; for morning by morning it shall pass; and by day and by night, it shall only be a terror to understand the message. ²⁰ For the bed is shorter than one can stretch himself on; and the cover is narrower than one can wrap himself in. ²¹ For Jehovah shall rise up, as at Mount Perazim; He shall be stirred as in the Gibeon Valley; to do His work, His strange work; and to perform His task, His alien task. ²² So, then, do not be mockers, that your bonds not be made strong. For I have heard from the Lord Jehovah of Hosts that a full end is decreed on all the earth. ²³ Listen and hear My voice; pay attention and hear My word: ²⁴ Does the plowman plow all day to sow? Does he open and break the clods of his ground? ²⁵ When he has leveled its surface, does he not strew black cummin, and scatter cummin, and place wheat in rows, and barley in its place, and spelt in its border? ²⁶ And He instructs him for the right; his God teaches him. ²⁷ For black cummin is not threshed with the sledge; nor is a cartwheel turned on cummin. But black cummin is beaten out with the staff, and cummin with the rod. ²⁸ Bread is crushed, but not always does one thresh it with threshing; and he drives the wheel of his cart; and his horses do not beat it small. ²⁹ This also comes from Jehovah of Hosts, doing wonders in counsel, making sound wisdom great.

²⁵ He restored the border of Israel from the entering in of Hamath to the sea of the Arabah, according to the word of Jehovah the God of Israel which He spoke by the hand of his servant Jonah the prophet, the son of Amittai of Gathhepher. ²⁶ For Jehovah had seen the affliction of Israel to be very bitter; and none was bound, and none free, and there was no helper for Israel. ²⁷ And Jehovah had not spoken that He would blot the name of Israel from under the heavens, but saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.

²⁹ In the days of Pekah the king of Israel, Tiglath-pileser the king of Assyria came and took Ijon, and Abel-beth-maachah, and Janoah, and Kedesh, and Hazor, and Gilead, and Galilee, all the land of Naphtali, and removed them to Assyria.

¹⁰ And they captured it at the end of three years; in the sixth year of Hezekiah (it was the ninth year of Hoshea the king of Israel) Samaria was conquered; ¹¹ and the king of Assyria carried Israel away to Assyria, and placed them in Halah, and in Habor by the river Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes, ¹² because they did not listen to the voice of Jehovah their God, and transgressed His covenant, all that Moses the servant of Jehovah commanded; yea, they did not listen nor obey.

⁶ And Pekah the son of Remaliah killed a hundred and twenty thousand in Judah in one day, all sons of valor, because they had forsaken Jehovah, the God of their fathers.

⁶ And the runners went with letters from the king's hand, and his leaders, to all Israel and Judah; even by the king's command, saying, O sons of Israel return to Jehovah, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel. And He shall return to the remnant left of you from the hand of the king of Assyria. ⁷ And do not be like your fathers, and like your brothers, who acted treacherously against Jehovah the God of their fathers; and He made them for a horror, as you see.

²⁹ Who has woe, who sorrow? Who has contentions, who has babbling? Who has wounds without cause? Who has dullness of eyes?

¹¹ Woe to those who rise early in the morning to go after fermented drink, tarrying in the twilight while wine inflames them!

²² Woe to those mighty to drink wine, and brave men to mix fermented drink;

⁸ For the head of Syria is Damascus, and the head of Damascus is Rezin; and within sixty five years Ephraim shall be broken from being a people. ⁹ And the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah's son. If you will not believe, surely you will not be established.

⁴ For before the boy knows to cry, My father, or, My mother, the riches of Damascus and the plunder of Samaria shall be taken away before the king of Assyria.

⁹ And all the people shall know, Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria, who say in pride and greatness of heart,

³ The crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim shall be trampled down. ⁴ And the glorious beauty which is on the head of the fat valley shall be a fading flower, like the first ripe fig before summer which the seeing one sees; while it is yet in his hand, he swallows it.

⁷ But they also have gone astray by wine, and have erred through fermented drink; priest and prophet have erred through fermented drink; they have been swallowed by wine; they strayed from fermented drink; they err in seeing; they stumble in judgment;

¹¹ Fornication and wine, and new wine, take away the heart.

⁵ And the pride of Israel answers to his face. So Israel and Ephraim shall stumble in their iniquity. Judah shall also stumble with them.

¹⁰ I have seen a horrible thing in the house of Israel: the fornication of Ephraim is there; Israel is defiled.

⁵ In the day of our king, the rulers have sickened themselves with the heat of wine. He stretches out his hand with scorners.

⁸ And they will stretch out beside every altar, and on garments taken in pledge. And they will drink wine of those being fined in the house of God.

¹² But you gave the Nazarites wine to drink, and you commanded the prophets, saying, Do not prophesy.

¹ Woe to those at ease in Zion, and those trusting in the mountain of Samaria, those noted as the leader of the nations! And the house of Israel came to them.

⁶ who drink bowls of wine, and they anoint with the best of oils; but they are not grieved for the breaking of Joseph!

⁷ Behold, therefore the Lord also brings on them the channels of the River, mighty and many: the king of Assyria and all his glory. And he shall come up over all its channels, and go over all its banks. ⁸ And he shall pass through Judah. He shall overflow and go over. He shall reach to the neck; and his wings will be stretching out, filling the breadth of your land, O Immanuel.

⁹ And all the people shall know, Ephraim and the inhabitants of Samaria, who say in pride and greatness of heart, ¹⁰ Bricks have fallen, but we will build with cut stones; the sycamores are cut down, but we will use cedars instead. ¹¹ And Jehovah will set up Rezin's foes against him, and spur on his enemies; ¹² Syrians in front, and the Philistines behind; and they shall devour Israel with all the mouth. In all this His anger does not turn away, but His hand is still stretched out.

⁴ For You are a stronghold to the poor, a stronghold to the needy in his distress, a refuge from storm, a shadow from heat; because the breath of the ruthless is like a storm against a wall.

¹ In that day Jehovah shall visit the sea monster, the darting serpent, with His great and fierce and strong sword; even on the sea monster, the twisting serpent; and He shall slay the monster that is in the sea.

⁶ you shall he visited from Jehovah of Hosts; with thunder and earthquake, and great noise, tempest and storm, and flame of devouring fire.

³⁰ And Jehovah shall make the majesty of His voice heard; and He shows His arm coming down with raging anger and flame of consuming fire, cloudburst and storm, and hailstones.

¹⁰ Behold, the Lord Jehovah will come with strength, and His arm rules for Him. Behold, His reward is with Him, and His wage before Him.

¹¹ Say to those daubing with lime, Yea, it will fall. There will be a flooding rain; and you, O hailstones, shall fall, and a raging wind shall break.

¹⁰ So says the Lord Jehovah: I will make the multitude of Egypt cease by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. ¹¹ He and his people with him, awesome of the nations, shall be brought to corrupt the land. And they shall draw their swords against Egypt and fill the lands with the slain.

⁸ But with a flood passing through, He will make a complete end of its place, and darkness shall pursue His enemies.

²⁵ and the rains came down, and the rivers came up, and the winds blew, and fell against that house; but it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock. ²⁶ And everyone who hears these words of Mine, and who does not do them, he shall be compared to a foolish man who built his house on the sand; ²⁷ and the rain came down, and the rivers came up, and the winds blew and beat against that house; and it fell, and great was the fall of it.

⁸ Because of this, in one day her plagues shall come: death, and mourning, and famine; and she will be consumed with fire, for the Lord God judging her is strong.

³³ And he said, Throw her down! And they threw her down. And some of her blood was splashed on the wall, and on the horses. And he trampled her.

¹⁰ For the hand of Jehovah shall rest in this mountain; and Moab shall be trampled under Him, even as straw is trampled in the water of a dung pit.

⁶ The foot shall trample it, the feet of the poor, steps of the weak.

¹⁵ The Lord has trampled all my mighty ones in my midst. He called a gathering against me to crush my young men. As a winepress, the Lord trod the virgin daughter of Judah.

¹³ Then I heard a certain holy one speaking, and another holy one said to that one who spoke, Until when is the vision, the regular sacrifice and the desolating transgression, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trampled?

²⁹ How much worse punishment do you think will be thought worthy to receive, the one trampling the Son of God, and having counted common the blood of the covenant in which he was sanctified, and having insulted the Spirit of grace?

² And cast aside the outside court of the temple, and do not measure it. For it was given to the nations, and they will trample the holy city forty two months.

¹⁹ How they are destroyed in a moment, swept away with terrors! ²⁰ Like a dream at the time from dreaming, O Lord, in awaking You will despise their image.

⁴ O Ephraim, what shall I do to you? O Judah, what shall I do to you? For your goodness is like a morning cloud, and it goes away like the early dew.

¹⁰ I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness. I saw your fathers as the firstfruit in the fig tree at her first time. They came to Baal-peor and set themselves apart to a shameful thing. And they became hateful like that which they loved. ¹¹ Ephraim is like a bird; their glory shall fly away, from birth, and from the womb, and from conception.

¹⁶ Ephraim is stricken; their root is dried up; they shall bear no fruit. Yea, though they bear, yet I will kill the beloved ones of their womb.

¹ When Ephraim spoke trembling, he was lifted up in Israel. But he offended in Baal, and he died.

¹⁵ Though he is fruitful among brothers, an east wind shall come. The wind of Jehovah shall come up from the wilderness, and his spring shall be ashamed, and his fountain shall be dried up. He shall plunder the treasure of all desirable vessels.

¹ Woe to me! For I am like the gatherings of summer fruit, like the gleanings of the vintage. There is no cluster to eat; my soul desires the early fig.

¹² All your fortresses are fig trees with the firstfruits; if they are shaken, then they shall fall on the mouth of the eater.

¹⁰ and the rich one rejoice in his humiliation, because he will pass away like the flower of the grass. ¹¹ For the sun rose with the hot wind and dried up the grass, and its flower fell out, and the beauty of its appearance perished; so also the rich one will fade away in his ways. Isa. 40:6, 7

¹³ and the stars of the heaven fell to the earth, as a fig tree being shaken by a great wind casts its unripe figs.

¹⁴ I put on righteousness and it clothed me; my judgment was like a robe and a diadem.

¹⁶ Let Your work appear to Your servants, and Your majesty to their sons. ¹⁷ And let the delight of the Lord our God be upon us; and establish the works of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands, establish it!

²⁰ And it shall be in that day, the remnant of Israel, and the escaped ones from the house of Jacob, shall not any more lean on him who struck him. But they will truly lean on Jehovah, the Holy One of Israel. ²¹ The remnant shall return, the remnant of Jacob, to the mighty God.

¹⁶ And there shall be a highway for the remnant of His people, those left from Assyria, as it was to Israel in the day when he came up out of the land of Egypt.

³¹ The remnant of the house of Judah that has escaped shall again take root downward, and it makes fruit upward. ³² For a remnant shall go out of Jerusalem, and the escaped ones out of Mount Zion; the zeal of Jehovah of Hosts shall do this.

¹⁶ You shall winnow them, and the wind will carry them away; and the tempest will scatter them. And you shall rejoice in Jehovah; you shall glory in the Holy One of Israel.

²⁵ In Jehovah all of the seed of Israel shall be justified, and shall glory.

¹ Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of Jehovah has risen on you! ² For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the peoples. But Jehovah shall rise on you, and His glory shall be seen on you. ³ And nations shall walk to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawning.

¹⁹ The sun shall not still be your light by day, or the brightness of the moon give you light; but Jehovah shall be for everlasting light to you, and your God for your beauty.

³ You also shall be a crown of beauty in the hand of Jehovah, and a royal diadem in the palm of your God.

²³ So says Jehovah, Do not let the wise glory in his wisdom, and do not let the mighty glory in his might. Do not let the rich glory in his riches. ²⁴ But let him who glories glory in this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am Jehovah, doing kindness, justice and righteousness in the earth; for I delight in these, says Jehovah.

¹³ Even He shall build the temple of Jehovah; and He shall bear the majesty, and shall sit and rule on His throne. And He shall be a priest on His throne; and the counsel of peace shall be between the two of them. ¹⁴ And the crowns shall be for a memorial in the temple of Jehovah, to Helem, and to Tobijah, and to Jedaiah, and to Hen, the son of Zephaniah. ¹⁵ And the distant ones shall come and build in the temple of Jehovah. And you shall know that Jehovah of hosts has sent me to you. And this shall be, if you will diligently obey the voice of Jehovah your God.

³² a Light for revelation to the nations, and the Glory of Your people Israel.

⁵ So then, also in the present time a remnant according to election of grace has come into being. Isa. 29:10, Deut. 29:4 ⁶ But if by grace, no longer is it of works; else grace no longer becomes grace. But if of works, it is no longer grace; else work is no longer work.

³⁰ But of Him, you are in Christ Jesus, who was made to us wisdom from God, both righteousness and sanctification and redemption, ³¹ so that even as it has been written, "He that glories, let him glory in" the "Lord." Jer. 9:24

¹⁷ For the lightness of our present affliction works out for us an eternal weight of glory, surpassing moment by surpassing moment;

⁴ And at the appearing of the Chief Shepherd, you will receive the never fading crown of glory.

³⁸ And Pharaoh said to his servants, Can we find any man like this, in whom is the Spirit of God? ³⁹ And Pharaoh said to Joseph, Since God has taught you all this, there is no one wise and intelligent like you.

¹⁶ And Jehovah said to Moses, assemble to Me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom you have known that they are elders of the people, and its officers. And you shall take them to the tabernacle of the congregation; and they shall station themselves there with you. ¹⁷ And I shall come down and speak with you there; and I will take of the spirit which is upon you, and will put it on them; and they will bear the burden of the people with you, that you may not bear it yourself alone.

¹⁶ Let Jehovah, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation ¹⁷ who may go out before them, and who may go in before them, and who may lead them out, and who may bring them in, so that the congregation of Jehovah may not be as sheep to whom there is no shepherd. ¹⁸ And Jehovah said to Moses, Take Joshua the son of Nun, a man in whom is the Spirit, and lay your hand on him.

⁴ For Jehovah your God is He who is going before you, to fight for you with your enemies, to save you.

⁹ Have I not commanded you? Be strong and brave. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for Jehovah your God is with you in all places where you go.

²⁸ And all Israel heard of the judgment that the king had judged, and feared from the face of the king; for they saw that the wisdom of God was in him to do judgment.

⁸ With him is an arm of flesh, and with us is Jehovah our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people were supported by the words of Hezekiah the king of Judah.

³² It is God who girds me with strength and gives my way to be perfect; ³³ setting my feet like the deer, and making me stand on my high places; ³⁴ teaching my hands to war, so that a bow of bronze is bent by my arms.

¹ To the chief musician. For the sons of Korah; A song. For the Virgins. God is our refuge and strength, very much found to be a help in distresses.

¹¹ Jehovah of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is a refuge for us. Selah.

¹ Of Solomon. Give the King Your judgments, O God; and Your righteousness to the King's son. ² Your people He shall judge in righteousness, and Your poor in justice. ³ The mountains will lift up peace to the people; and the little hills through righteousness. ⁴ He shall judge the poor of the people; and He shall save the sons of the needy; and He shall crush the oppressor.

⁸ A king who sits on the throne of judgment scatters away all evil with his eyes.

² And the Spirit of Jehovah shall rest on Him; He will have the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and power, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of Jehovah. ³ And He is made to breathe in the fear of Jehovah. But He shall not judge by the seeing of His eyes, nor decide by the hearing of His ears. ⁴ But He shall judge the poor in righteousness, and shall decide rightly for the meek of the earth. And He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, and He shall slay the wicked with the breath of His lips.

¹⁵ until is poured out on us the Spirit from on high, and the wilderness becomes a fruitful field; and the fruitful field is reckoned as a forest. ¹⁶ Then justice shall dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness shall dwell in the fruitful field.

³⁴ For the One whom God sent speaks the words of God, for God does not give the Spirit by measure.

³⁰ I am able to do nothing from Myself; just as I hear, I judge; and My judgment is just, for I do not seek My will, but the will of the One sending Me, the Father.

⁸ For through the Spirit is given to one a word of wisdom, and to another a word of knowledge, according to the same Spirit;

⁹ You shall not drink wine and strong drink, you nor your sons with you, as you go into the tabernacle of the congregation, and you shall not die; a never ending statute throughout your generations; ¹⁰ and to make a distinction between the holy and profane, and between the unclean and the clean;

²⁷ they reel and stagger like a drunken man, and all their wisdom is swallowed up;

¹ Wine is a mocker, strong drink is stirring, and each one straying by it is not wise.

⁴ It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine, nor for princes to lust for fermented drink, ⁵ that they not drink and forget what is decreed, and pervert the right of the afflicted ones.

¹⁷ Blessed are you, O land, when your king is the son of nobles, and your leaders eat in due time, in strength, and not in drinking.

¹² As for My people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over him. Oh My people, your rulers cause you to go astray, and they swallow the way of your paths.

¹⁵ The elder and the exalted of face; he is the head. And the prophet who teaches lies; he is the tail. ¹⁶ For this people's leaders led them astray, and its guided ones are swallowed up.

¹⁴ Jehovah has mixed a perverse spirit in her midst; and they led astray Egypt in all his work; as a drunkard strays in his vomit.

¹³ Then, lo, joy and gladness, slaying oxen and slaughtering sheep; eating flesh and drinking wine, saying, Eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!

² And as it is with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with the master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the creditor, so with the debtor.

¹¹ And the whole vision to you is like the words of a sealed hook which they give to one knowing books, saying, Please read this. Then he says, I am not able, for it is sealed.

¹⁰ His watchmen are blind; they all do not know; they are all dumb dogs; they cannot bark, dreaming, lying down, loving to slumber; ¹¹ yea, dogs greedy of soul; they do not know satisfaction. And they are shepherds; they know not discernment; they all look to their own way, each one for his own gain, from his own end, saying: ¹² Come, and let me bring wine, and let us gulp down fermented drink; and tomorrow shall be as this day, great, exceedingly abundant.

¹⁴ And Jehovah said to me, The prophets prophesy lies in My name. I did not send them and I have not commanded them, nor did I speak to them. They prophesy to you a false vision, and a worthless divination, and the deceit of their heart.

¹³ And I have seen frivolity among the prophets of Samaria; they prophesied by Baal and caused My people Israel to go astray.

¹⁶ So says Jehovah of hosts, do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you; they make you vain; they speak a vision of their own heart, not out of the mouth of Jehovah.

⁴ He trod His bow like an enemy, and set His right hand like a foe; and killed all who were desirable to the eye in the tent of the daughter of Zion. He poured out His fury like fire.

⁷ Did you not see a vain vision and speak a lying divination? Yet you say, Jehovah declares, though I have not spoken.

²¹ And every priest shall not drink wine when they enter into the inner court.

¹¹ Fornication and wine, and new wine, take away the heart. ¹² My people seek advice by their wooden idols, and their rod declares to them. For the spirit of harlotry has led them astray, and they fornicated from under their God.

¹¹ If a man walks with wind, and he lies in deceit, saying, I will drop words to you for wine and for fermented drink, he shall even be a dropper of words for this people.

²⁹ And immediately after the affliction of those days the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give her light, and the stars will fall from the heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

³⁴ But take heed to yourselves that your hearts not be loaded down with headaches, and drinking, and anxieties of life, and that day come suddenly upon you

²⁸ So, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies, (he loving his wife loves himself),

¹¹ As a dog that returns to his own vomit, so a fool repeats his foolishness.

²⁶ Make Him drunk, for he magnified himself against Jehovah. Moab also shall wallow in his vomit, and he also shall be a mockery.

¹⁵ Woe to him who causes his friend to drink, pouring out your wineskin, and also making him drunk, so as to look upon their nakedness! ¹⁶ You are filled with shame instead of glory; you drink also, and will be seen as uncircumcised. The cup of the right hand of Jehovah shall turn on you, and disgrace shall be your glory.

¹⁷ Yea, you hate instruction, and toss My words behind you?

² Surely I have set myself and have quieted my soul, like one weaned by its mother; my soul on me is like one weaned.

²⁹ Instead they hated knowledge and chose not the fear of Jehovah.

²⁶ And He instructs him for the right; his God teaches him.

¹⁰ who say to the seers, Do not see; and to visioners, Do not have a vision for right things to us; speak smooth things to us; have a vision of trifles. ¹¹ Turn aside from the way; stretch from the path; cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us. ¹² For this reason, so says the Holy One of Israel, Because of your rejection of this word, and your trust in oppression and perversity, even resting on it;

²⁰ And the Lord gives you the bread of adversity, and the water of affliction; but your teachers shall not be hidden any more; but your eyes shall be to see your teachers.

¹⁷ So says Jehovah, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, I am Jehovah your God, who teaches you to profit, who leads you in the way you should go.

⁴ The Lord Jehovah has given to Me the tongue of taught ones, to know to help the weary with a word. He arouses in the morning; He wakens the ear to Me, to hear as the learned.

¹ Who has believed our report? And to whom is the arm of Jehovah revealed?

¹³ and all your sons will be taught of Jehovah; and the peace of your sons will be great.

³¹ The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their hands; and My people love it so. And what will you do at the end of it?

¹⁰ To whom shall I speak and give warning that they may hear? Behold, their ears are not circumcised, and they cannot listen. Behold, the word of Jehovah is a reproach to them. They have no delight in it.

²⁵ Answering at that time, Jesus said, I praise You, Father, Lord of Heaven and of Earth, because You hid these things from the sophisticated and cunning and revealed them to babes.

¹⁵ But the chief priests and the scribes, seeing the wonders which He did, and the children crying out in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David, they were incensed. ¹⁶ And they said to Him, Do you hear what these say? And Jesus said to them, Yes. Did you never read, "Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings You have perfected praise?" LXX-Psa. 8:3; MT-Psa. 8:2

¹⁵ Truly I say to you, Whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a child may in no way enter into it.

¹⁹ And this is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness more than the Light, for their works were evil.

³⁸ so that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he said, "Lord, who has believed our report? And the arm of the Lord, to whom was it revealed?" Isa. 53:1

⁴⁷ And if anyone hears My words and does not believe, I do not judge him; for I did not come that I might judge the world, but that I might save the world. ⁴⁸ The one who rejects Me and does not receive My words has that judging him: the Word which I spoke, that will judge him in the last Day.

² as newborn babes desire the pure soul-nourishing milk, that you may grow by it;

¹ And this is the commandment, the statute and the judgments which Jehovah your God commanded to teach you, to do them in the land to which you are crossing over, to possess it, ² that you might fear Jehovah your God, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you; you, and your son, and your sons' son, all the days of your life; and that your days may be prolonged. ³ Hear, then, O Israel, and take heed to do it, that it may be well with you, that you may increase mightily, as Jehovah the God of your fathers has promised you, in the land flowing with milk and honey. ⁴ Hear, O Israel, Jehovah our God is one Jehovah. ⁵ And you shall love Jehovah your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. ⁶ And these words which I am commanding you today shall be on your heart.

¹⁵ And Jehovah, the God of their fathers, sent to them by the hand of His messengers, rising early and sending, for He had pity on his people and on His dwelling place. ¹⁶ But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets until the wrath of Jehovah went up against His people, until there was no healing.

²⁹ And You testified against them to bring them again to Your Law, but they seethed, and did not listen to Your commands, but were against Your judgments; they sinned in them, which if a man do, he shall live in them. And they gave a rebellious shoulder, and hardened their neck, and would not hear. ³⁰ But many years You had patience with them, and testified against them by Your Spirit, by Your prophets. Yet they would not give ear. And You gave them into the hand of the peoples of the lands.

⁴ What more could have been done to My vineyard that I have not done in it? Who knows? I waited for it to yield grapes, but it yielded rotten grapes.

¹³ Yet the word of Jehovah was to them, precept on precept, precept on precept; line on line, line on line; here a little, there a little; that they might go, and stumble, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

⁷ For I solemnly warned your fathers in the day I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, to this day rising early and warning, saying, Obey My voice.

³ From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, even to this day, this twenty three years, the word of Jehovah has come to me, and I have spoken to you, rising up early and speaking; but you have not listened. ⁴ And Jehovah has sent to you all His servants the prophets, rising early and sending, but you have not listened nor bowed your ear to hear, ⁵ saying, Now turn each one from his evil way and from the evil of your doings, and live on the land which Jehovah has given to you and to your fathers from forever even to forever. ⁶ And do not go after other gods to serve them and to worship them, and do not provoke Me to anger with the works of your hands; and I will do you no harm. ⁷ Yet you have not listened to Me, says Jehovah, so that you might provoke Me to anger with the works of your hands, for harm to you.

³⁴ And when the season of the fruits came, he sent his slaves to the vinedressers to receive his fruits. ³⁵ And the vinedressers, taking his slaves, they beat this one, and they killed one, and they stoned another. ³⁶ Again he sent other slaves, more than the first. And they did the same to them. ³⁷ And at last he sent his son to them, saying, They will have respect for my son. ³⁸ But seeing the son, the vinedressers said among themselves, This is the heir. Come, let us kill him and get hold of his inheritance. ³⁹ And taking him, they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him . ⁴⁰ Therefore, when the lord of the vineyard comes, what will he do to these vinedressers? ⁴¹ They said to Him, Bad men! He will miserably destroy them, and he will rent out the vineyard to other vinedressers who will give to him the fruits in their seasons.

¹ For the rest my brothers, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you truly is not tiresome to me, but safe for you.

⁷ always learning, but never being able to come to a full knowledge of the truth.

¹² For indeed because of the time you are due to be teachers, yet you need to have someone to teach you again the rudiments of the beginning of the oracles of God, and you have become in need of milk, and not of solid food;

⁴⁹ Jehovah shall raise a nation against you from afar, from the end of the earth, as the eagle flies; a nation whose tongue you will not understand,

¹⁹ You shall not see the fierce people, from hearing a people of a difficult lip, of a foreign tongue, that none understands.

¹⁵ Behold, I will bring a nation on you from far away, O house of Israel, declares Jehovah. It is an enduring nation; it is an ancient nation, a nation whose language you do not know, nor understand what they say.

²¹ It has been written in the Law, "By other tongues" and "by other lips" "I will speak to this people," "and even so they will not hear" Me, says the Lord." Isa. 28:11, 12

¹¹ And Asa called to Jehovah his God, and said, O Jehovah, it is nothing to You to help between the mighty and him with no strength. Help us, O Jehovah our God; for we rest on You, and in Your name we come against this host. O Jehovah, You are our God. Do not let man hold out against You.

⁸ Did not the Cushites and the Lubim become a very great army for multitude, for chariots and for horsemen? And when you leaned on Jehovah, He gave them into your hand. ⁹ For the eyes of Jehovah run to and fro in all the earth in order to be strong for those with their heart perfect toward Him. You have acted foolishly in this. For this reason, from now on there shall be wars with you.

¹¹ But My people would not listen to My voice, and Israel did not consent to Me. ¹² So I gave them up to the stubbornness of their own hearts; they walked in their own conceits. ¹³ Oh if My people had listened to me! If Israel had walked in My ways,

¹⁰ And it shall be in that day, the Root of Jesse stands as a banner of peoples; nations shall seek to Him; and His resting place shall be glory.

¹⁵ For so says the Lord Jehovah, the Holy One of Israel, In returning and rest you shall be saved; and in quietness and hope shall be your strength. But you were not willing.

¹⁶ So says Jehovah, Stand by the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, where the good way is, and walk in it; and you shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk in it .

¹⁶ As for the word that you have spoken to us in the name of Jehovah, we will not listen to you.

¹¹ But they refused to listen, and gave a stubborn shoulder, and they made their ears heavy from hearing.

¹⁴ But I stormed them away on all the nations whom they did not know. And the land is desolated behind them, from passing and from returning; for they made the land of desire a waste.

²⁸ Come to Me, all those laboring and being burdened, and I will give you rest. ²⁹ Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, because I am meek and lowly in heart, "and you will find rest to your souls." Jer. 6:16

²⁵ Watch that you do not refuse the One speaking; for if these did not escape who refused Him who divinely warned them on earth, much rather we, those turning away from Heaven;

²² Let their table be a trap before them, and to those at ease a snare.

⁹ And He said, Go and tell this people, Hearing you hear, but do not understand; and seeing you see, but do not know. ¹⁰ Make the heart of this people fat, and make his ears heavy, and shut his eyes, that he not see with his eyes, and hear with his ears, and understand with his heart, and turn back, and one heals him.

¹⁴ And He shall be for a sanctuary, and for a stone of stumbling, and for a rock of falling to the two houses of Israel; for a trap and for a snare to the dweller of Jerusalem. ¹⁵ And many among them shall stumble and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken.

¹⁰ For precept must be on precept, precept on precept; line on line, line on line; here a little, there a little.

³⁶ And you shall not mention the burden of Jehovah again, for each man's word shall be his burden. For you have perverted the words of the living God, of Jehovah of Hosts, our God. ³⁷ So you shall say to the prophet, What has Jehovah answered you? And what has Jehovah spoken? ³⁸ But if you say, The burden of Jehovah, therefore so says Jehovah: Because you say this word, the burden of Jehovah; and I have sent to you saying, You shall not say, The burden of Jehovah;

⁵ So I have hewn them by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of My mouth; and your judgments have been as the light that goes forth.

¹² I will write the great things of My law for him. They were counted as a strange thing.

¹⁴ And the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled on them, which says, "In hearing you will hear and in no way understand, and seeing you will see yet in no way perceive.

⁴⁴ And he who falls on this Stone will be broken; but on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder.

⁹ And David said, "Let their table become for a snare and a trap, and for a stumbling block," and a repayment to them;

¹⁶ to the one, an odor of death unto death, and to the other, an odor of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things?

⁷ Then to you who believe belongs the preciousness. But to disobeying ones, He is the "Stone which those building rejected; this One became the Head-of-the-corner," Psa. 118:22 ⁸ and a Stone-of-stumbling, and a Rock-of-offense" to those disobeying, stumbling at the word, to which they were also appointed. Isa. 8:14

¹⁶ as also in all his epistles, speaking in them concerning these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the unlearned and unsettled pervert, as also they do the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.

²² How long will you love to be simple, you simple ones? And will scorners desire scorn for themselves? And will fools hate knowledge?

³⁴ Surely He scorns the scorners, but He gives grace to the lowly.

⁸ Scornful men puff against a city, but the wise turn away anger.

¹⁰ Hear the word of Jehovah, rulers of Sodom. Listen to the law of our God, people of Gomorrah.

⁹ Jehovah of Hosts has sworn in my ears, If not, many houses shall be a waste, big and beautiful ones without inhabitant.

²² So, then, do not be mockers, that your bonds not be made strong. For I have heard from the Lord Jehovah of Hosts that a full end is decreed on all the earth.

²⁰ For the terrible one is brought to nothing; and the scorner is ended; and all that watch for evil are cut off;

⁴¹ "Behold, you despisers," "and marvel," "and perish, because I work a work in your days," a work which you would "in no way believe if anyone declares it to you." Hab. 1:5

²³ For you shall be in covenant with the stones of the field; and the beasts of the field will be at peace with you.

²⁵ because he stretched out his hand against God, and acts mighty against the Almighty. ²⁶ He runs at him with a stiff neck, with the thick layers of his shields, ²⁷ because he has covered his face with fat; yea, he has put fat on his loins.

⁸ Man is not a ruler over the spirit, to restrain the spirit; nor has he power in the day of death. And there is no discharge in that war, nor shall wickedness deliver its possessors.

¹⁸ Woe to those who draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as with ropes of a cart; ¹⁹ who say, Let Him hurry and hasten His work, so that we may see; and let the purpose of the Holy One of Israel draw near and come, so that we may know!

¹⁵ The elder and the exalted of face; he is the head. And the prophet who teaches lies; he is the tail.

² Behold, the Lord is a mighty and strong one; like a hailstorm, a destroying storm; like a storm of mighty waters overflowing; He sets down to the earth by hand.

¹⁸ And your covenant with death shall be covered; and your vision with Sheol shall not rise up. When the overwhelming whip passes through, then you shall be for a trampling to it.

¹⁵ Woe to those who go deep to hide their purposes from Jehovah; yea, their works are in the dark; and they say, Who sees us? And, Who knows us?

¹⁰ who say to the seers, Do not see; and to visioners, Do not have a vision for right things to us; speak smooth things to us; have a vision of trifles.

²⁸ And like an overflowing torrent, His breath shall divide to the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of vanity, and a misleading bridle on the jaws of the peoples.

¹³ Then I said, Ah, O Lord Jehovah! Behold, the prophets are saying to them, You shall not see the sword, nor shall you have famine, but I will give you true peace in this place.

¹⁹ O Jehovah, my strength and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the nations shall come to You from the ends of the earth and say, Our fathers have inherited only lies, vanity, and there is no profit in them.

¹⁵ Then the prophet Jeremiah said to Hananiah the prophet, Hear now, Hananiah, Jehovah has not sent you, but you have made this people trust in a lie. ¹⁶ So Jehovah says this, Behold, I send you away from the face of the earth. You shall die this year, because you have spoken apostasy against Jehovah. ¹⁷ And Hananiah died the same year in the seventh month.

¹⁷ But we will certainly do whatever thing goes out of our own mouth, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings to her, as we have done, we and our fathers, our kings, and our rulers, in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. And we had plenty of food, and were well, and saw no evil.

¹² And He said to me, Son of man, have you seen what the elders of the house of Israel are doing in the dark, each man in the rooms of his image? For they are saying, Jehovah does not see us, Jehovah has forsaken the earth.

¹⁶ the prophets of Israel who prophesy as to Jerusalem, and who see visions of peace for her. And there is no peace, declares the Lord Jehovah.

²² Because you have saddened the heart of the righteous with lies, and I have not made him sad, and you have made the hands of the wicked strong, so that he should not turn from his evil way, to keep him alive.

²² And the forces of the overflow shall be swept from before his face, and they will be broken, and also the ruler of a covenant.

¹⁸ And in that day I will cut a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, and with the birds of the sky, and the creeping things of the ground. And I will break the bow and the sword, and the battle out of the earth, and I will make them to lie down safely.

⁴ So says Jehovah: For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not turn back from it; for they despised the law of Jehovah, and they have not kept His statutes. And their lies after which their fathers walked led them astray.

⁸ Those who observe vanities of idolatry forsake their faithfulness;

¹² And it shall be in that time, I will search Jerusalem with lamps, and punish the men being settled on their lees; who say in their heart, Jehovah will not do good, nor will He do evil.

⁹ His coming is according to the working of Satan in all power and miracles and lying wonders, ¹⁰ and in all deceit of unrighteousness in those being lost, because they did not receive the love of the truth in order for them to be saved. ¹¹ And because of this, God will send to them a working of error, for them to believe the lie,

¹⁰ The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor the lawmaker from between his feet, until Shiloh come, and the obedience of the peoples to him.

²⁴ His bow abides in strength, and the hands of his arms are made agile by the hands of the Mighty One of Jacob, from the Shepherd, the Rock of Israel.

⁷ He shall not be afraid of evil news; his heart is fixed, trusting in Jehovah. ⁸ His heart is upheld; he shall not be afraid though he looks on his foes.

²² The Stone which the builders rejected has become the Head of the corner.

¹⁸ And so Jehovah waits to be gracious to you. And for this He is exalted to have mercy on you; for Jehovah is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for Him.

³ For the vision is still for the appointed time, but it breathes to the end, and it does not lie. Though it delays, wait for it, because it will surely come; it will not tarry. ⁴ Behold, the soul of him is puffed up and is not upright; but the just shall live by his faith.

⁹ For, behold, I will bring forth My Servant, the BRANCH. For behold, the stone which I have given before Joshua, on the one stone are seven eyes. I will engrave its engraving, says Jehovah of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.

⁴² Jesus said to them, Did you never read in the Scriptures, "A Stone which the builders rejected is the One that has become the head of the corner. This was from the Lord, and it is a wonder in our eyes?" Psa. 118:22, 23

¹⁰ Have you not even read this Scripture: The "Stone which the builders rejected, this one became head of the corner;

¹⁷ And looking at them He said, What then is this which has been written, " The stone that the builders rejected, this one came to be for the Head of the corner"? Psa. 118:22 ¹⁸ Everyone falling on that Stone will be broken in pieces but on whomever it falls, it will grind him to powder.

¹¹ This One is the Stone counted worthless by you the builders, which has become to be the Head of the Corner; Psa. 118:22 ¹² and there is salvation in no other One, for neither is there any other name under Heaven having been given among men by which we must be saved.

³³ as it has been written, "Behold, I place in" "Zion a Stone-of-stumbling," "and a Rock-of-offense," "and everyone believing on Him will not be put to shame." LXX and MT-Isa. 28:16; MT-Isa. 8:14

¹¹ For the Scripture says, "Everyone believing on Him will not be put to shame." Isa. 28:16

¹¹ For no one is able to lay any other foundation beside the One having been laid, who is Jesus Christ.

²⁰ being built up on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the cornerstone,

⁷ Therefore, brothers, be long-suffering until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being long-suffering over it until it may receive the early and the latter rain. ⁸ You also be long-suffering. Set your hearts firmly, because the coming of the Lord has drawn near.

⁶ Because of this, it is also contained in the Scripture: "Behold," I lay in Zion" an elect, "precious Stone," "a Corner-foundation;" "and the one believing in Him shall never in any way be ashamed." Isa. 28:16

¹⁸ Behold! I will rain very grievous hail about this time tomorrow, such as has never been in Egypt from the day of its foundation until now. ¹⁹ And now send out, bring your livestock to safety, and all belonging to you in the field. All men and livestock found in the field, and not brought to the house, the hail will come on them, and they will die.

¹¹ And it happened, as they fled from the face of Israel, they were in the descent of Bethhoron, even Jehovah cast great stones on them out of the heavens, to Azekah; and they died. The many who died by the hailstones were more than the sons of Israel had killed by the sword.

¹³ And I will stretch out over Jerusalem the line of Samaria, and the plummet of the house of Ahab, and shall wipe Jerusalem as one wipes a dish (he wipes and turns it on its face).

¹⁶ They were seized, but there was not time; their foundation was poured out by a flood;

¹⁵ For judgment shall turn to righteousness; and all the upright in heart shall follow after it.

¹⁶ But Jehovah of Hosts is exalted in judgment, and God the Holy One is proven holy in righteousness.

²² For though Your people Israel is like the sand of the sea, only a remnant of it shall return; a determined end, overflowing with righteousness.

¹⁵ Because you have said, We have cut a covenant with death; and, We have made a vision with Sheol, when the overwhelming rod passes through it will not come to us for we have made the lie our refuge, and we have hidden in falsehood.

² And a man shall be a hiding place from the wind, a shelter from the tempest, as streams of water in a dry place; like the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.

¹⁸ And My people shall live in a peaceful home, and in safe dwellings, and in secure resting places. ¹⁹ Though it hails when the forest is felled, and the city is laid low,

⁴ Do not trust yourself to lying words, saying, The temple of Jehovah! The temple of Jehovah! This is the temple of Jehovah! ⁵ For if you thoroughly amend your ways and your doings; if you truly practice justice between a man and his neighbor; ⁶ if you do not oppress the stranger, the orphan, and the widow; and do not shed innocent blood in this place, or walk after other gods to your hurt; ⁷ then I will let you dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, from forever and to forever. ⁸ Behold, you trust for yourself on lying words without being of use.

¹⁴ And I will do to the house on which My name is called, in which you are trusting, and to the place which I gave to you and to your fathers, as I have done to Shiloh.

²⁰ So the Lord Jehovah says this: Behold, My anger and My fury will be cured out on this place, on man and on animal, and on the trees of the field, and on the fruit of the ground. And it will burn and will not be put out.

¹⁹ Behold, the tempest of Jehovah has gone forth in fury, even a whirling tempest. It will whirl on the head of the wicked.

²³ Behold, the tempest of Jehovah: fury goes forth, a sweeping tempest; it shall swirl on the head of the wicked. ²⁴ The fierce anger of Jehovah shall not turn back until He has finished, and until He has fulfilled the intentions of His heart. In latter days you will understand it.

¹⁰ Because, even because they made My people go astray, saying, Peace! and there was no peace. And he builds a wall, and, behold, others daubed it with lime. ¹¹ Say to those daubing with lime, Yea, it will fall. There will be a flooding rain; and you, O hailstones, shall fall, and a raging wind shall break. ¹² And, behold, when the wall has fallen, it shall not be said to you, Where is the daubing with which you have daubed? ¹³ So the Lord Jehovah says this: I will even break in My fury with a raging wind. And there shall be a flooding rain in My anger, and hailstones in fury, to consume it. ¹⁴ And I will break down the wall that you have daubed with lime and bring it down to the ground; yea, I will bare its base. And it shall fall, and you will be consumed in its midst. And you shall know that I am Jehovah. ¹⁵ And I will fulfill My wrath in the wall, and in those who daubed it with lime. And I will say to you, The wall is not; and, Those who daubed are not, ¹⁶ the prophets of Israel who prophesy as to Jerusalem, and who see visions of peace for her. And there is no peace, declares the Lord Jehovah.

²² And I will judge him with a plague and with blood, and an overflowing shower, and hailstones. I will rain fire and brimstone on him, and on his bands, and on the many peoples who are with him.

⁷ He made me see this: And, behold, the Lord was standing by the plumb line wall, and a plumb line in His hand. ⁸ And Jehovah said to me, Amos, what do you see? And I said, A plumb line. And the Lord said, Behold, I will set a plumb line in the midst of My people Israel. I will not again pass over him any more. ⁹ And the high places of Isaac shall be desolated, and the holy places of Israel shall be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword.

²⁷ and the rain came down, and the rivers came up, and the winds blew and beat against that house; and it fell, and great was the fall of it.

² But we know that the judgment of God is according to truth on those that practice such things.

⁵ But according to your hardness and your impenitent heart, do you treasure up to yourself wrath in a day of wrath, and revelation of a righteous judgment of God?

²⁸ For He is bringing the matter to an end, and having been cut short "in righteousness," "because the Lord" "will do a thing cut short" "on the earth." Isa. 10:22, 23

⁶ through which the world which then was, being flooded by water, perished. ⁷ But the heavens and the earth now, having been stored up by the same word, are being kept for fire to a day of judgment and destruction of ungodly men.

⁷ And the first angel trumpeted. And hail and fire mixed with blood occurred. And it was cast onto the earth; and the third part of the trees was burned down; and all green grass was burned down.

¹⁹ And the temple of God in Heaven was opened, and the ark of His covenant was seen in His temple, and lightnings, and voices, and thunders, and earthquake, and a great hail occurred.

²¹ And a great hail, as the size of a talent, came down out of the heaven upon men. And men blasphemed God from the plague of the hail, because its plague is exceedingly great.

² For true and righteous are His judgments, because He judged the great harlot who defiled the earth with her fornication. And He avenged the blood of His slaves out of her hand.

¹⁵ and against every tall tower; and against every fortified wall;

⁷ So says the Lord Jehovah, It shall not rise, nor shall it happen.

⁸ And he shall pass through Judah. He shall overflow and go over. He shall reach to the neck; and his wings will be stretching out, filling the breadth of your land, O Immanuel.

¹⁰ Counsel a counsel, and it is frustrated; speak a word, and it shall not rise; for God is with us.

³ The crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim shall be trampled down.

²⁸ And he who escapes the sword shall return out of the land of Egypt to the land of Judah, few in number. And all the remnant of Judah who have gone into the land of Egypt, to reside there, shall know whose word shall stand, theirs or Mine.

² So says Jehovah, Behold, waters rise up out of the north and shall become an overflowing torrent. And it shall overflow the land and all its fullness; the city, and those who dwell in it. Then the men shall cry, and all the people of the land shall wail.

¹⁵ But he rebelled against him in sending his messengers to Egypt, to give horses and many people to him. Shall he prosper? Shall he who does these things escape? Or shall he break the covenant and be delivered?

⁹ And out of one of them came a little horn which became very great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the bountiful land . ¹⁰ And it became great, even to the host of the heavens. And it caused some of the host and of the stars to fall to the ground, and it trampled them. ¹¹ Yea, he magnified himself even to the leader of the host. And the regular sacrifice was taken away by him, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down. ¹² And a host was given with the regular sacrifice because of transgression. And it threw the truth down to the ground, and it worked and prospered. ¹³ Then I heard a certain holy one speaking, and another holy one said to that one who spoke, Until when is the vision, the regular sacrifice and the desolating transgression, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trampled?

²⁶ And after sixty two weeks, Messiah shall be cut off, but not for Himself. And the people of a coming prince shall destroy the city and the sanctuary. And its end shall be with the flood, and ruins are determined, and war shall be until the end. ²⁷ And he shall confirm a covenant with the many for one week. And in the middle of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the offering to cease. And on a wing of the altar will be abominations that desolate, even until the end. And that which was decreed shall pour out on the desolator.

⁴⁰ And at the end time, the king of the south will engage in butting with him. And the king of the north shall come against him like a tempest, with chariots and with horsemen and with many ships. And he shall go into the lands and shall overflow and pass over.

⁶ But My words and My statutes which I commanded My servants the prophets, did they not overtake your fathers? And they returned and said, As Jehovah of hosts purposes to do to us, according to our ways and according to our deeds, so He has done with us.

¹ For, behold, the day is coming, burning like a fire pot; and all the proud and every doer of wickedness shall be chaff. And the coming day will set them ablaze, says Jehovah of hosts, which will not leave root or branches to them. ² But to you who fear My name, the Sun of Righteousness shall rise up, and healing will be on His wings. And you shall go out and frisk like calves of the stall. ³ And you shall tread under the wicked, for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day which I am preparing, says Jehovah of hosts.

¹⁵ And the serpent threw water out of his mouth like a river after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried off by the river.

¹⁵ And he says to me, The waters which you saw, where the harlot sits, are peoples and crowds and nations and tongues.

¹¹ And Jehovah said to Samuel, Behold! I am doing a thing in Israel at which the two ears of every one hearing it shall tingle.

⁶ In the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of Assyria captured Samaria, and removed Israel to Assyria, and made them live in Halah, and in Habor, by the river Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes.

¹³ And in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah, Sennacherib the king of Assyria came up against all the fortified cities of Judah, and captured them.

¹² therefore so says Jehovah, the God of Israel, Behold, I am bringing evil on Jerusalem and Judah, so that whoever hears of it, his two ears shall tingle.

² And Jehovah sent against him the troops of the Chaldeans, and the troops of Syria, and the troops of Moab, and the troops of the Ammonites; and He sent them against Judah to destroy it, according to the word of Jehovah that He spoke by the hand of His servants the prophets.

¹¹ Terrors frighten him on every side and shall dash him at his feet.

⁵ Woe to Assyria, the rod of My anger! And My fury is the staff in their hand. ⁶ I will send him against an ungodly nation, and against the people of My wrath. I will command him to plunder, and to strip off spoil, and to trample them like the mud of the streets.

⁷ Behold, their heroes cry outside; the envoys of peace shall weep bitterly.

²² And Eliakim, Hilkiah's son who was over the house, and Shebna the scribe, and Asaph's son Joah, the recorder, came to Hezekiah with their garments torn. And they reported to him the words of the chief of cupbearers.

³ And they said to him, So says Hezekiah, This day is a day of trouble, and reproach, and contempt. For sons have come to the breach and there is no strength to give birth.

³ And say, Hear the word of Jehovah, O kings of Judah, and inhabitants of Jerusalem. So says Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will bring evil on this place by which all who hear it will have tingling ears.

¹⁹ And you, son of man, set for yourself two ways, that the sword of the king of Babylon may come. Both of them shall come out from one land. And create a hand at the head of the way to the city, create it. ²⁰ You shall set a way that the sword may enter into Rabbah of the sons of Amnion, and into Judah, into fortified Jerusalem. ²¹ For the king of Babylon shall stand at the mother of the way, at the head of the two ways to practice divination. He shall shake arrows, he shall ask household idols; he shall look at the liver. ²² At his right shall be the divining for Jerusalem, to set battering rams, to open the mouth in the slaughter, to lift up the voice with shouting, to set battering rams against the gates, to pour out a mound, and to build a siege wall. ²³ And it shall be to them an empty divining in their sight, those who have sworn oaths to them. But he will remember iniquity, that they may be taken.

²⁸ Here is the end of the matter. As for me, Daniel, my thoughts troubled me much, and my face changed on me. But I kept the matter in my heart.

²⁷ And I, Daniel, was faint. And I was sick for days. Afterwards, I got up and did the king's business. And I was amazed at the vision. But there was no understanding.

¹⁶ I heard, and my belly trembled; my lips quivered at the sound. Rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled within myself that I might rest for the day of distress; to come up against the peoples; he cuts him off.

²⁵ And there will be signs in the sun and moon and stars. And on the earth will be anxiety of nations with bewilderment, roaring of sea and of surf, ²⁶ men fainting from fear, and expectation of the things coming on the earth. For the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

¹² I will reveal your righteousness and your works, and they will not benefit you. ¹³ When you cry, let your gathering deliver you; but the wind shall bear away all of them; vanity takes them. But he who takes refuge in Me shall inherit the land and possess My holy mountain.

⁵ They hatch adders' eggs, and weave the spider's web; he who eats their eggs dies; and that which is crushed hatches out a viper. ⁶ Their webs shall not become clothing, nor shall they cover themselves with their works. Their works are works of evil, and the act of violence is in their hands.

⁶ But we are all as the unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as a menstruous cloth. And we all fade as a leaf, and like the wind our iniquities take us away.

³ He who kills an ox is as if he struck a man; he who sacrifices a lamb is as if he broke a dog's neck; he who offers a present is as if it were swine's blood; he who marks incense is as if he blessed an idol. Yea, they have chosen their way, and their soul delights in their abominations. ⁴ I also will choose their vexations; and I will bring their fears to them; because I called, and no one answered; I spoke, and they did not hear. But they did the evil in My eyes, and chose that in which I had no pleasure. ⁵ Hear the word of Jehovah, those who tremble at His word. Your brothers who hate you, who drive you out for My name's sake, have said, Jehovah is glorified. But He shall appear in your joy, and they shall be ashamed. ⁶ A roaring sound from the city! A sound from the temple! It is the sound of Jehovah repaying retribution to His enemies.

⁸ Behold, you trust for yourself on lying words without being of use. ⁹ Will you steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense to Baal, and walk after other gods whom you do not know? ¹⁰ And will you then come and stand before Me in this house on which My name is called, and say, We are delivered in order to do all those detestable things.

³⁰ What then shall we say? That the nations not following after righteousness have taken on righteousness, but a righteousness of faith; ³¹ but Israel following after a law of righteousness did not arrive at a law of righteousness? ³² Why? Because it was not of faith, but as of works of Law. For they stumbled at the Stone-of-stumbling,

¹⁸ For the word of the cross is foolishness to those being lost, but to us being saved, it is the power of God. ¹⁹ For it has been written, "I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and I will set aside the understanding of the understanding ones." Isa. 29:14 ²⁰ Where is the wise? Where the scribe? Where the lawyer of this world? Did God not make the wisdom of this world foolish? ²¹ For since in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom did not know God, God was pleased through the foolishness of preaching to save the ones believing. ²² And since Jews ask for a sign, and Greeks seek wisdom, ²³ we on the other hand preach Christ crucified (truly an offense to Jews, and foolishness to Greeks), ²⁴ but to the called-out ones, both to Jews and to Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God; ²⁵ because the foolish thing of God is wiser than men, and the weak thing of God is stronger than men. ²⁶ For you see your calling, brothers, that there are not many wise according to flesh, nor many powerful, not many wellborn. ²⁷ But God chose the foolish things of the world that the wise might be put to shame, and God chose the weak things of the world so that He might put to shame the strong things. ²⁸ And God chose the low-born of the world, and the despised, and the things that are not, so that He might bring to nothing the things that are, ²⁹ so that no flesh might glory in His presence.

²¹ And Jehovah shall set him apart to evil, out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this book of the law; ²² so that the generation to come, your sons who rise after you, and the foreigner who comes in from a distant land, shall say when they see the plagues of that land, and its sicknesses which Jehovah shall send into it, ²³ The whole land shall be burned with brimstone and salt; it shall not be sown, nor shall it sprout; nor shall there be any herb in it. It shall be like the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboim, which Jehovah overthrew in His anger and in His fury. ²⁴ Yes, all the nations shall say, Why has Jehovah done this to this land? For what is the heat of this great anger?

¹⁰ and Jehovah troubled them before Israel, and struck them with a great blow at Gibeon, and He pursued by the way of the ascent of Bethhoron, and struck them to Azekah, and to Makkedah.

¹² Then Joshua spoke to Jehovah in the day when Jehovah gave the Amorites up before the sons of Israel; and he said, Sun, stand still before the eyes of Israel in Gibeon! And, Moon stand still in the valley of Aijalon!

²⁰ And David came to Baal-perazim. And David struck them there, and said, Jehovah has broken forth on my enemies before me as the breaking forth of waters. On account of this he called the name of that place The Breaking of Baal.

²⁵ And David did so, as Jehovah commanded him. And he struck the Philistines from Geba until you come to Gezer.

¹¹ And they went up to Baal-perazim, and David struck them there. And David said, God has broken my enemies by my hand, like the breaking of the waters; so they called the name of that place Baal-perazim.

¹⁶ And David did as God commanded him. And they struck the army of the Philistines from Gibeon even to Gezer.

¹² And it will be, when the Lord has broken off all His work on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, I will visit on the fruit of the proud heart of the king of Assyria, and on the glory of his lofty eyes.

¹⁹ As often as it passes, it shall take you; for morning by morning it shall pass; and by day and by night, it shall only be a terror to understand the message.

¹⁴ So, behold, I am adding to do a wonders with this people, the wonder, even a wonder. For the wisdom of his wise ones shall perish, and the wit of his witty ones shall be hidden.

¹⁴ All your lovers have forgotten you; they do not seek you. For I have wounded you with the wound of an enemy, with the chastisement of a cruel one, because of the greatness of your iniquity. Your sins are many.

¹⁵ All who pass by clap their hands at you. They hiss and wag their head at the daughter of Jerusalem, saying, Is this the city which they called the perfection of beauty, the joy of all the earth?

³³ For He does not afflict from His heart, nor does He grieve the sons of man,

²¹ And it happened in the twelfth year, in the tenth month, on the fifth of the month of our exile, one who escaped out of Jerusalem came to me, saying, The city has been stricken.

⁴¹ And as He drew near, seeing the city, He wept over it, ⁴² saying, If you had known, even you, even at least in this day of yours, the things for your peace! But now they were hidden from your eyes. ⁴³ For the days will come on you, and your enemies will raise up a rampart to you and will surround you and will keep you in on every side, ⁴⁴ and will tear you down, and your children in you, and will not leave a stone on a stone, because you did not know the time of your visitation.

¹⁰ And the runners passed from city to city in the land of Ephraim, and Manasseh, even to Zebulun. And they were laughing at them, and mocking them.

¹¹ And Jehovah brought against them the king of Assyria's army commanders, and they captured Manasseh with hooks, and bound him with bronze fetters, and made him go to Babylon.

¹⁶ But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets until the wrath of Jehovah went up against His people, until there was no healing.

¹⁶ For He has broken the gates of bronze; and He cut bars of iron in two.

²² For though Your people Israel is like the sand of the sea, only a remnant of it shall return; a determined end, overflowing with righteousness. ²³ For the Lord Jehovah of Hosts is making a full end, even ordained, in the midst of all the land.

¹ Lo, Jehovah empties the land and makes it bare, and distorts its face, and scatters its inhabitants. ² And as it is with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with the master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the creditor, so with the debtor. ³ The land shall completely be emptied and utterly stripped, for Jehovah has spoken this word. ⁴ The land mourns and languishes; the world droops and languishes; the proud people of the earth droop. ⁵ And the earth is profaned under its inhabitants, because they transgress laws and violate a statute, and break the everlasting covenant. ⁶ On account of this a curse has devoured the land; and they who live in it are held guilty. For this the dwellers of the land are consumed, and few men are left. ⁷ The new wine has failed; the vine droops; all the merry-hearted sigh. ⁸ The joy of timbrels ceases; the noise of those who revel ends; the joy of the harp ceases. ⁹ They shall not drink wine with a song; fermented drink shall be bitter to those who drink it. ¹⁰ The city of shame is broken down; every house is shut, that no one may enter. ¹¹ A crying over the wine is in the streets; all joy is darkened; the gladness in the land is carried away. ¹² Desolation is remaining in the city, and a ruin; the gate is battered. ¹³ For it is thus in the midst of the land, among the peoples, it shall be as the shaking of an olive tree, and as gleanings when the grape harvest is completed. ¹⁴ They lift up their voice; they sing for the majesty of Jehovah; they cry aloud from the sea. ¹⁵ On account of this, glorify Jehovah in the flames, the name of Jehovah God of Israel, in the coasts of the sea. ¹⁶ We have heard songs from the end of the earth, Honor to the Righteous. But I said, Leanness to me! Leanness to me! Woe to me! Traitors betray, even perfidy; traitors betray! ¹⁷ Dread, and the pit, and a snare are upon you, dweller of the earth. ¹⁸ And it shall be, he who flees from the sound of dread shall fall into the pit. And he who comes up out of the middle of the pit shall be taken in the snare. For the windows from on high are opened, and the earth's foundations quake. ¹⁹ The earth is breaking, breaking! The earth is crashing, crashing! The earth is tottering, tottering. ²⁰ Like a drunkard, the earth is staggering, staggering! And it rocks to and fro like a hut. And its trespass is heavy on it; and it shall fall, and not rise again. ²¹ And it shall be in that day, Jehovah shall punish the army of the high place on high, and on the kings of the land on the land. ²² And they will be gathered, a gathering of prisoners in a dungeon. And they shall be shut up in a prison; and after many days they will be visited. ²³ Then the moon shall blush, and the sun shall be ashamed, when Jehovah of Hosts shall reign in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem; and before His elders is His glory .

¹⁴ So hear the word of Jehovah, scornful men, rulers of this people in Jerusalem. ¹⁵ Because you have said, We have cut a covenant with death; and, We have made a vision with Sheol, when the overwhelming rod passes through it will not come to us for we have made the lie our refuge, and we have hidden in falsehood.

¹² be wailing over breasts, over pleasant fields, over the fruitful vine. ¹³ Thorns and briers shall spring up on the land of My people; even over all the houses of joy in the jubilant city, ¹⁴ because the palace is forsaken; the crowd of the city is forsaken; mound and tower are instead caves, until forever; a joy of wild asses; pasture for flocks;

¹⁷ I did not sit in the circle of merrymakers, nor exult. I sat alone because of Your hand; for You have filled me with indignation.

⁷ O Jehovah, You have deceived me; yea, I was deceived. You are stronger than I, and You have prevailed. I am in derision all the day; everyone laughs at me.

¹¹ And this whole land shall be a waste and a horror; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

⁷ And he blinded the eyes of Zedekiah and bound him in bronze fetters, to make him go to Babylon.

¹⁴ The yoke of my transgressions is bound by His hand, they intertwine, they rise on my neck. He caused my strength to falter. The Lord gave me into their hands. I am not able to rise up.

³⁹ But those passing by, blasphemed Him, shaking their heads,

⁴⁴ And also the robbers crucified with Him reviled Him, saying the same.

²⁴ And they will fall by the mouth of the sword and will be led captive to all the nations. And Jerusalem will be trodden down by nations, until the times of the nations are fulfilled.

⁴⁰ Then watch that the thing spoken in the Prophets may not come on you: ⁴¹ "Behold, you despisers," "and marvel," "and perish, because I work a work in your days," a work which you would "in no way believe if anyone declares it to you." Hab. 1:5

³² And hearing of a resurrection of the dead, some indeed ridiculed, but said, We will hear you again concerning this.

¹⁸ For I testify together with everyone hearing the words of the prophecy of this Book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add upon him the plagues having been written in this Book. ¹⁹ And if anyone takes away from the words of the Book of this prophecy, God will take away his part from the Book of Life, and out of the holy city, and of the things having been written in this Book.

¹ Give ear, O heavens, and I will speak. And hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.

² Hear, O heavens, and listen, O earth! For Jehovah has spoken: I have nursed and brought up sons, but they have rebelled against Me.

²⁹ O earth, earth, earth! Hear the word of Jehovah!

⁷ The one who has an ear, hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one overcoming, I will give to him to eat of the Tree of Life which is in the midst of the Paradise of God.

¹¹ The one who has an ear, hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one overcoming will not at all be hurt by the second death.

¹⁴ But I have a few things against you, that you have there those holding the teachings of Balaam, who taught Balak to throw a stumbling-block before the sons of Israel, to eat idol sacrifices, and to commit fornication.

²⁹ The one who has an ear, hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

³ For so says Jehovah to the men of Judah and to Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and do not sow to the thorns.

¹¹ And Ephraim is a trained heifer, loving to tread out. But I passed over on the goodness of her neck; I will make Ephraim to ride; Judah shall plow; Jacob shall break clods for him. ¹² Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap as mercy. Break up your plowed ground. For it is time to seek Jehovah, until He comes and rains righteousness on you.

³¹ And the flax and the barley were stricken. For the barley in head, and the flax in bud. ³² And the wheat and the spelt were not stricken, for they were late.

⁹ And you, take to yourself wheat, and barley, and beans, and lentils, and millet, and spelt, and place them in a single vessel; and prepare them for yourself into bread, to the number of days that you are lying on your side. You shall eat it three hundred and ninety days.

²³ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithes of mint and dill and cummin, and you have left aside the weightier matters of the Law: judgment, and mercy, and faith. It was right to do these, and not to have left those aside.

³ And you shall speak to all the wise-hearted whom I have filled with a spirit of wisdom; and they shall make the garments of Aaron to sanctify him for his serving as priest to Me.

³ And I have filled him with the spirit of God in wisdom, and in intelligence, and in knowledge, and in all workmanship, ⁴ to devise designs, to work in gold and in silver and in bronze, ⁵ and in cutting of stones for finishings, and in carving of wood, to work in all workmanship. ⁶ And behold! I have given with him Aholiab the son of Ahisamach of the tribe of Dan; and in the heart of every wise-hearted one I have given wisdom; and they shall make all which I have commanded you:

² And Moses called to Bezaleel, and to Aholiab, and to everyone wise of heart, to whom Jehovah had given a heart of wisdom, everyone whose heart had lifted him up to come near the work, to do it.

¹¹ teaching us more than the animals of the earth, and makes us wiser than the birds of the heavens?

¹⁷ because God has made her forget wisdom; and He has not given to her a share in understanding.

¹ A Psalm of David. Blessed be Jehovah my Rock, who teaches my hands for war, my fingers for battle.

¹⁷ As for these four boys, God gave them knowledge and skill in all writing and wisdom. And Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

¹⁷ every act of good giving and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom is no change or shadow of turning.

⁷ For he did not leave to Jehoahaz any of the people except fifty horsemen, and ten chariots, and ten thousand footmen; for the king of Syria had destroyed them, and had made them like dust by threshing.

⁷ As the striking of His striker, did He strike him? Or as the slaying of His slain, is he slain? ⁸ You will contend with her by driving her away, by sending her away. He shall take away by His harsh wind, in the day of the east wind.

¹⁵ Behold! I have made you a new sharp threshing instrument, a master of teeth; you shall thresh mountains and beat them small, and shall make hills like the chaff.

²⁴ O Jehovah, correct me, only with judgment, not in Your anger, that You do not bring me to nothing.

²⁸ You shall not fear, O Jacob My servant, says Jehovah, for I am with you. For I will make a full end of all the nations there where I have driven you. But I will not make a full end of you, but I will correct you justly, and by no means will I leave you unpunished.

³ So says Jehovah: For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn back from it, for they have threshed Gilead with threshing sledges of iron.

¹⁰ Oh my threshing, and the grain of my floor! That which I have heard of Jehovah of Hosts, the God of Israel, I have told to you.

⁹ For, behold, I will command, and I will shake the house of Israel among all the nations, as one shakes with a sieve; yet not a grain shall fall to the ground.

¹² whose fan is in His hand, and He will cleanse His floor and will gather His wheat into the barn. But He will burn up the chaff with fire that cannot be put out.

³⁷ And answering, He said to them, The one sowing the good seed is the Son of man. ³⁸ And the field is the world; and the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom; but the darnel are the sons of the evil one . ³⁹ And the enemy who sowed them is the Devil, and the harvest is the end of the age, and the angels are the reapers. ⁴⁰ Then as the darnel is gathered and is consumed in the fire, so it will be in the end of this age. ⁴¹ The Son of man will send forth His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all the offenses, and those who practice lawlessness. ⁴² And they will throw them into the furnace of fire; there will be weeping and gnashing of the teeth. ⁴³ Then the righteous will shine out like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. The one having ears to hear, let him hear.

³¹ And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold! Satan asked for you, to sift you as wheat; ³² but I entreated concerning you, that your faith might not fail. And when you have turned back, confirm your brothers.

²⁴ Truly, truly, I say to you, unless the grain of wheat that falls into the earth dies, it remains alone. But if it dies, it bears much fruit.

⁹ For we are fellow workers of God, a field of God, and you are a building of God.

⁹ For it has been written in the Law of Moses, "You shall not muzzle an ox treading out grain." Deut. 25:4 Is it that it matters to God as to oxen? ¹⁰ Or does He say it altogether because of us? It is written because of us, so that the one plowing ought to plow in hope, and the one threshing in hope to partake of hope.

⁹ who is doing great things, and there is no searching them; marvelous things to which is no numbering,

²³ We cannot find Him, the Almighty; He is exalted in power; and He does not violate justice and abundant righteousness.

⁵ Many things have You done, O Jehovah my God; Your works of wonder and Your purposes toward us; there is none to set in order to You; I will declare and I will speak; they are more than can be counted.

⁵ O Jehovah, Your purposes are very deep. How great are Your works!

⁶ For a Child is born; to us a Son is given; and the government is on His shoulder; and His name is called Wonderful, Counselor, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace.

²¹ For Jehovah shall rise up, as at Mount Perazim; He shall be stirred as in the Gibeon Valley; to do His work, His strange work; and to perform His task, His alien task. ²² So, then, do not be mockers, that your bonds not be made strong. For I have heard from the Lord Jehovah of Hosts that a full end is decreed on all the earth.

¹⁹ He is great in counsel and mighty in work. For Your eyes are open on all the ways of the sons of men, to give to each man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

² It seemed good before me to declare the signs and wonders that the Most High God has done with me. ³ How great are His signs! And how mighty are His wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and His rule is from generation to generation.

³³ O the depth of the riches and of the wisdom and the knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!
