¹ And it happened when Samuel was old, he made his sons judges over Israel.

¹⁸ You shall appoint judges and officers for yourself in all your gates which Jehovah your God gives you, tribe by tribe. And they shall judge the people with righteous judgment. ¹⁹ You shall not pervert judgment. You shall not regard faces, nor shall you take a bribe; for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise, and perverts the words of the righteous.

¹⁰ You that ride on white asses, you that sit on rich carpets, and you travelers on the way, sing out!

²² And the men of Israel said to Gideon, rule over us, both you and your son, and your son's son, for you have delivered us from the hand of Midian. ²³ And Gideon said to them, I shall not rule over you, nor shall my son rule over you; Jehovah shall rule over you.

⁴ And he had thirty sons who rode on thirty ass colts. And they had thirty cities, which are called The Towns of Jair to this day, which are in the land of Gilead.

¹⁴ And he had forty sons, and thirty grandsons, who rode on seventy he-asses; and he judged Israel eight years.

⁵ And he placed judges in the land, in all the fortified cities of Judah, for every city; ⁶ and said to the judges, Watch what you are doing, for you shall not judge for man, but for Jehovah, and He is with you in the matter of judgment;

² I commanded that my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the ruler of the palace be over Jerusalem. For he was as a faithful man and feared God above many.

²¹ I solemnly witness before God and the Lord Jesus Christ and the elect angels, that you should guard these things without prejudice, doing nothing by way of partiality.
