¹ And David fled from Naioth in Ramah, and came and said before Jonathan, What have I done? What is my iniquity, and what my sin before your father, that he is seeking my life?

³ Behold, I am here! Testify against me before Jehovah and before His anointed: Whose ox have I taken, and whose ass have I taken, and whom have I offended? Whom have I abused, and from whose hand have I taken a bribe that I might hide my eyes with it; and I will give back to you.

¹⁹ And it was told to Saul, saying, Behold, David is in Naioth in Ramah. ²⁰ And Saul sent messengers to take David. And they saw the assembly of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as head over them. And the Spirit of God came on Saul's messengers, and they also prophesied. ²¹ And they told Saul, and he sent other messengers. And they also prophesied. And again Saul sent messengers, a third time. And they also prophesied. ²² And he went, he also, to Ramah, and came to the great well in Sechu. And Saul asked and said, Where are Samuel and David? And one said, Behold, in Naioth in Ramah. ²³ And he went there, to Naioth in Ramah, and the Spirit of God was on him, him also. And going on, he went and prophesied until he came into Naioth in Ramah. ²⁴ And he stripped off his garments, he also, and he prophesied before Samuel, even he. And he fell down disrobed all that day and all that night. Because of this they say, Is Saul also among the prophets?

²⁶ And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain. And David was hurrying to go away from the face of Saul. And Saul and his men were encircling David and his men, to catch them. ²⁷ And a messenger came to Saul, saying, Hurry, and come, for the Philistines have made a raid on the land. ²⁸ And Saul turned back from pursuing David, and went to meet the Philistines. On account of this they have called that place, The Rock of the Division.

⁹ And David said to Saul, Why do you listen to the words of man, saying, Behold, David seeks to do you evil?

¹¹ And my father, behold! Yes, see the skirt of your robe in my hand. For in that I cut off the skirt of your robe, and did not kill you, know and see that there is neither evil nor transgression in my hand, and I have not sinned against you. Yet you are hunting my soul, to take it.

¹⁷ And he said to David, You are more righteous than I. For you have done good to me, and I have rewarded you with evil.

³ O Jehovah, my God, if I have done this, if there is iniquity in my hands: ⁴ if I have repaid evil to my friend or I have plundered my vexer without cause, ⁵ let the enemy pursue and overtake my soul; yea, trample down my life to earth, and lay my honor in the dust. Selah.

²⁰ Jehovah rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands, He has repaid me. ²¹ For I have kept the ways of Jehovah, and have not wickedly departed from my God. ²² For all His judgments were before me, and I did not turn away His statutes from me. ²³ For I was upright with Him, and kept myself from my guilt. ²⁴ And Jehovah has returned to me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands before His eyes.

⁶ Blessed be Jehovah, who did not give us as a prey to their teeth. ⁷ Our soul has escaped like a bird out of the fowlers' snare; the snare is broken, and we have escaped. ⁸ Our help is in the name of Jehovah, the Maker of the heavens and earth.

¹² For our glorying is this, the testimony of our conscience, that we had our conduct in the world in simplicity and sincerity of God, not in fleshly wisdom, but in the grace of God, and more abundantly toward you.

⁹ But the Lord knows to deliver the godly out of temptation, and to keep the unjust for a day of judgment, being punished,

²¹ Beloved, if our heart does not accuse us, we have confidence with God.
