¹ And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury.

⁶ And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.

¹¹ But you say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift (to God), whatever you might have gained from me; he shall be free. ¹² And you permit him no more to do anything for his father or his mother; ¹³ Making the word of God of no effect through your tradition, which you have delivered: and many such like things do you.

⁴¹ And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much. ⁴² And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a small fraction of a denarius. ⁴³ And he called unto him his disciples, and says unto them, Truthfully I say unto you, That this poor widow has cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury: ⁴⁴ For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.

²⁰ These words spoke Jesus in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come.
