¹ Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let them slip.

⁹ Do you not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets you took up?

¹⁸ Having eyes, see you not? and having ears, hear you not? and do you not remember?

¹⁵ But that on the good ground are they, which in a honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

⁴⁴ Let these sayings sink down into your ears: for the Son of man shall be delivered into the hands of men.

¹ God, who at various times and in different manners spoke in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, ² Has in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he has appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

² For if the word spoken by angels was steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward; ³ How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him; ⁴ God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with different miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will?

⁵ And you have forgotten the exhortation which speaks unto you as unto children, My son, despise not you the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when you are rebuked of him:

²⁵ See that you refuse not him that speaks. For if they escaped not who refused him that spoke on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaks from heaven: ²⁶ Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he has promised, saying, yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.

¹² Therefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though you know them, and be established in the present truth. ¹³ Yes, I think it suitable, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;

¹⁵ Moreover I will endeavor that you may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.

¹ This second letter, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:
