¹ This second letter, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:

⁸ Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

² I told you before, and foretell you, as if I were present, the second time; and being absent now I write to those who heretofore have sinned, and to all other, that, if I come again, I will not spare:

²² Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men's sins: keep yourself pure.

⁶ Therefore I put you in remembrance that you stir up the gift of God, which is in you by the putting on of my hands.

¹ Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, ² Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

²² Seeing you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brothers, see that you love one another with a pure heart fervently:

¹² Therefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though you know them, and be established in the present truth. ¹³ Yes, I think it suitable, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance; ¹⁴ Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, just as our Lord Jesus Christ has showed me. ¹⁵ Moreover I will endeavor that you may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.
