² That in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.

⁴² And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a small fraction of a denarius. ⁴³ And he called unto him his disciples, and says unto them, Truthfully I say unto you, That this poor widow has cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury: ⁴⁴ For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.

¹ And he looked up, and saw the rich men casting their gifts into the treasury. ² And he saw also a certain poor widow casting into there two mites. ³ And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow has cast in more than they all: ⁴ For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her poverty has cast in all the living that she had.

⁴⁵ And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. ⁴⁶ And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their food with gladness and singleness of heart,

⁸ Or he that exhorts, on exhortation: he that gives, let him do it with simplicity; he that rules, with diligence; he that shows mercy, with cheerfulness.

¹² For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have had our conduct in the world, and more abundantly toward you.

¹⁰ As sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.

¹¹ Being enriched in everything to all bountifulness, which causes through us thanksgiving to God.

¹³ Whiles by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men;

⁶ And you became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost.

¹⁴ For you, brothers, became followers of the churches of God which in Judaea are in Christ Jesus: for you also have suffered like things of your own countrymen, just as they have of the Jews:

³ That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for yourselves know that we are appointed thereunto. ⁴ For truthfully, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer tribulation; just as it came to pass, and you know.

⁵ Hearken, my beloved brothers, Has not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he has promised to them that love him?

⁹ I know your works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but you are rich) and I know the blasphemy of those who say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.
