A Psalm of David.] The LORD hear you in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend you; ² Send you help from the sanctuary, and strengthen you out of Zion; ³ Remember all your offerings, and accept your burnt sacrifice; Selah. ⁴ Grant you according to your own heart, and fulfill all your plans. ⁵ We will rejoice in your salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners: the LORD fulfill all your petitions. ⁶ Now know I that the LORD saves his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand. ⁷ Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. ⁸ They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright. ⁹ Save, LORD: let the king hear us when we call.

⁴ And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering:

²⁷ And he said unto him, What is your name? And he said, Jacob. ²⁸ And he said, Your name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince have you power with God and with men, and have prevailed. ²⁹ And Jacob asked him, and said, Tell me, I pray you, your name. And he said, Why is it that you do ask my name? And he blessed him there.

¹⁵ And he blessed Joseph, and said, God, before whom my fathers Abraham and Isaac did walk, the God who fed me all my life long unto this day, ¹⁶ The Angel who redeemed me from all evil, bless the lads; and let my name be perpetuated in them, and the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; and let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth.

¹³ And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers has sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? ¹⁴ And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shall you say unto the children of Israel, I AM has sent me unto you. ¹⁵ And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shall you say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, has sent me unto you: this is my name forever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.

⁵ And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD. ⁶ And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, ⁷ Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.

²⁴ And there came a fire out from before the LORD, and consumed upon the altar the burnt offering and the fat: which when all the people saw, they shouted, and fell on their faces.

³⁵ And it came to pass, when the ark moved forward, that Moses said, Rise up, LORD, and let your enemies be scattered; and let them that hate you flee before you. ³⁶ And when it rested, he said, Return, O LORD, unto the many thousands of Israel.

³¹ So let all your enemies perish, O LORD: but let them that love him be as the sun when it goes forth in its might. And the land had rest forty years.

¹⁷ Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant you your petition that you have asked of him.

⁵ And the Philistines gathered themselves together to fight with Israel, thirty thousand chariots, and six thousand horsemen, and people as the sand which is on the sea shore in multitude: and they came up, and encamped in Michmash, eastward from Bethaven.

⁴⁵ Then said David to the Philistine, You come to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.

⁷ Nevertheless David took the stronghold of Zion: the same is the city of David.

¹⁷ And they brought in the ark of the LORD, and set it in its place, in the midst of the tabernacle that David had pitched for it: and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD.

⁴ And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David hamstrung all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for a hundred chariots.

¹⁸ And the Syrians fled before Israel; and David slew the men of seven hundred chariots of the Syrians, and forty thousand horsemen, and struck Shobach the captain of their army, who died there.

¹⁶ And he built twenty cubits on the sides of the house, both the floor and the walls with boards of cedar: he even built them for it inside, even for the inner sanctuary, even for the most holy place.

³⁰ And hearken to the supplication of your servant, and of your people Israel, when they shall pray toward this place: and hear in heaven your dwelling place: and when you hear, forgive.

⁴³ Hear you in heaven your dwelling place, and do according to all that the stranger calls to you for: that all people of the earth may know your name, to fear you, as do your people Israel; and that they may know that this house, which I have built, is called by your name. ⁴⁴ If your people go out to battle against their enemy, wherever you shall send them, and shall pray unto the LORD toward the city which you have chosen, and toward the house that I have built for your name: ⁴⁵ Then hear you in heaven their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause.

²⁶ And David built there an altar unto the LORD, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings, and called upon the LORD; and he answered him from heaven by fire upon the altar of burnt offering.

¹ Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the house.

¹⁰ But as for us, the LORD is our God, and we have not forsaken him; and the priests, who minister unto the LORD, are the sons of Aaron, and the Levites attend to their service: ¹¹ And they burn unto the LORD every morning and every evening burnt sacrifices and sweet incense: the showbread also set they in order upon the pure table; and the lampstand of gold with its lamps, to burn every evening: for we keep the charge of the LORD our God; but you have forsaken him. ¹² And, behold, God himself is with us as our captain, and his priests with sounding trumpets to sound the alarm against you. O children of Israel, fight not against the LORD God of your fathers; for you shall not prosper.

¹⁶ And the children of Israel fled before Judah: and God delivered them into their hand.

¹¹ And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, it is nothing with you to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on you, and in your name we go against this multitude. O LORD, you are our God; let not man prevail against you.

⁸ And they dwelt in it, and have built you a sanctuary in it for your name, saying, ⁹ If, when evil comes upon us, as the sword, judgment, or pestilence, or famine, we stand before this house, and in your presence, (for your name is in this house,) and cry unto you in our affliction, then you will hear and help.

¹² O our God, will you not judge them? for we have no might against this great company that comes against us; neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon you. ¹³ And all Judah stood before the LORD, with their little ones, their wives, and their children. ¹⁴ Then upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, came the spirit of the LORD in the midst of the congregation; ¹⁵ And he said, Hearken you, all Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you king Jehoshaphat, Thus says the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s. ¹⁶ Tomorrow go you down against them: behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz; and you shall find them at the end of the valley, before the wilderness of Jeruel. ¹⁷ You shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand you still, and see the salvation of the LORD with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them: for the LORD will be with you. ¹⁸ And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the LORD, worshiping the LORD. ¹⁹ And the Levites, of the children of the Kohathites, and of the children of the Korahites, stood up to praise the LORD God of Israel with a loud voice on high. ²⁰ And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and you inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall you be established; believe his prophets, so shall you prosper.

⁸ With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the LORD our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people encouraged themselves by the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

² The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,

⁶ Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. ⁷ I will declare the decree: the LORD has said unto me, You are my Son; this day have I begotten you. ⁸ Ask of me, and I shall give you the nations for your inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for your possession. ⁹ You shall break them with a rod of iron; you shall dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel. ¹⁰ Be wise now therefore, O you kings: be instructed, you judges of the earth.

⁴ I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.

⁷ Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for you have smitten all my enemies upon the cheek bone; you have broken the teeth of the ungodly.

² Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto you will I pray.

¹⁰ And they that know your name will put their trust in you: for you, LORD, have not forsaken them that seek you.

¹⁴ That I may show forth all your praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion: I will rejoice in your salvation.

⁵ But I have trusted in your mercy; my heart shall rejoice in your salvation.

⁶ I have called upon you, for you will hear me, O God: incline your ear unto me, and hear my speech. ⁷ Show your marvelous lovingkindness, O you that save by your right hand them who put their trust in you from those that rise up against them.

² The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my shield, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.

³⁵ You have also given me the shield of your salvation: and your right hand has held me up, and your gentleness has made me great.

⁵⁰ Great deliverance gives he to his king; and shows mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his descendants forevermore.

⁴ Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them has he set a tabernacle for the sun,

¹ [To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.] The king shall joy in your strength, O LORD; and in your salvation how greatly shall he rejoice! ² You have given him his heart's desire, and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah.

⁷ Lift up your heads, O you gates; and be you lifted up, you everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

⁸ The LORD is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed.

¹⁶ There is no king saved by the multitude of a host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength. ¹⁷ A horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.

²¹ Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate. ²² The LORD redeems the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.

⁹ And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD: it shall rejoice in his salvation.

⁴ Delight yourself also in the LORD; and he shall give you the desires of your heart.

¹¹ By this I know that you favor me, because my enemy does not triumph over me.

⁴ You are my King, O God: command deliverances for Jacob.

¹⁷ I will make your name to be remembered in all generations: therefore shall the people praise you forever and ever.

⁵ Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice.

¹⁹ Then shall you be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon your altar.

⁴ You have given a banner to them that fear you, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah.

¹¹ Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.

¹⁷ Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then understood I their end.

¹² For God is my King of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth.

¹⁸ That men may know that you, whose name alone is the LORD, are the most high over all the earth.

²⁰ I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him: ²¹ With whom my hand shall be established: my arm also shall strengthen him. ²² The enemy shall not outwit him; nor the son of wickedness afflict him. ²³ And I will beat down his foes before his face, and plague them that hate him.

¹⁴ Because he has set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he has known my name. ¹⁵ He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him.

² Judah was his sanctuary, and Israel his dominion.

¹⁵ The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tabernacles of the righteous: the right hand of the LORD does valiantly.

²⁵ Save now, I beseech you, O LORD: O LORD, I beseech you, send now prosperity. ²⁶ Blessed be he that comes in the name of the LORD: we have blessed you out of the house of the LORD.

¹ [A song of ascents.] They that trust in the LORD shall be as mount Zion, which cannot be removed, but abides forever.

⁷ Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you will revive me: you shall stretch forth your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and your right hand shall save me.

¹⁹ He will fulfill the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them.

⁵ Happy is he that has the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God: ⁶ Who made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that is therein: who keeps truth forever: ⁷ Who executes justice for the oppressed: who gives food to the hungry. The LORD looses the prisoners: ⁸ The LORD opens the eyes of the blind: the LORD raises them that are bowed down: the LORD loves the righteous: ⁹ The LORD preserves the strangers; he relieves the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turns upside down.

²³ The desire of the righteous is only good: but the expectation of the wicked is wrath.

¹⁰ The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runs into it, and is safe.

³¹ The horse is prepared for the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.

¹⁰ And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, who shall stand as an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his place of rest shall be glorious.

¹ And in that day you shall say, O LORD, I will praise you: though you were angry with me, your anger is turned away, and you comforted me. ² Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD GOD is my strength and my song; he also has become my salvation. ³ Therefore with joy shall you draw water out of the wells of salvation.

⁶ Cry out and shout, you inhabitant of Zion: for great is the Holy One of Israel in the midst of you.

³² What shall one then answer the messengers of the nation? That the LORD has founded Zion, and the poor of his people shall trust in it.

⁹ And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.

¹⁶ But you said, No; for we will flee upon horses; therefore shall you flee: and, We will ride upon the swift; therefore shall they that pursue you be swift.

¹ Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and rely on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD!

³⁴ By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, says the LORD. ³⁵ For I will defend this city to save it for my own sake, and for my servant David's sake.

¹⁰ Who is among you that fears the LORD, that obeys the voice of his servant, that walks in darkness, and has no light? let him trust in the name of the LORD, and rely upon his God.

¹⁵ For thus says the high and lofty One that inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

⁹ Then shall you call, and the LORD shall answer; you shall cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If you take away from the midst of you the yoke, the pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness;

⁷ All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered together unto you, the rams of Nebaioth shall minister unto you: they shall come up with acceptance on my altar, and I will glorify the house of my glory.

¹⁰ I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he has clothed me with the garments of salvation, he has covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decks himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

¹⁵ Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of your holiness and of your glory: where is your zeal and your strength, the yearning of your heart and of your mercies toward me? are they restrained?

⁵ Thus says the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusts in man, and makes flesh his arm, and whose heart departs from the LORD.

⁷ Blessed is the man that trusts in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. ⁸ For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreads out its roots by the river, and shall not fear when the heat comes, but its leaf shall be green; and shall not be anxious in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

⁷ Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob’s trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.

⁵ For all people will walk every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the LORD our God forever and ever.

⁸ Rejoice not against me, O my enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.

¹⁸ Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

⁹ After this manner therefore pray: Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be your name.

⁹ And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.

¹⁵ And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the son of David; they were very displeased,

²² And all things, whatsoever you shall ask in prayer, believing, you shall receive.

³⁸ Then said he unto them, My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even unto death: tarry you here, and watch with me. ³⁹ And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as you will.

⁴⁷ And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.

⁴² And I knew that you hear me always: but because of the people who stand by I said it, that they may believe that you have sent me.

²³ And in that day you shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, whatsoever you shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it to you.

³³ Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, he has poured forth this, which you now see and hear.

³⁶ Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God has made that same Jesus, whom you have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

¹⁰ Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him does this man stand here before you whole.

³¹ Him has God exalted with his right hand to be a Prince and a Savior, to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

⁴ And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Your prayers and your alms are come up for a memorial before God.

²⁷ And he that searches the hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because he makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. ²⁸ And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

² And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us, and has given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling fragrance.

⁷ Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;

⁵ You also, as living stones, are built up into a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

¹⁴ And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us: ¹⁵ And if we know that he hears us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we desired of him.
