⁷ The violence of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do justice.

¹⁶ His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own crown.

¹⁶ The LORD is known by the judgment which he executes: the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion. Selah.

¹⁸ And they lie in wait for their own blood; they lurk secretly for their own lives. ¹⁹ So are the ways of everyone that is greedy of gain; which takes away the life of its owners.

⁶ Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.

²¹ He that follows after righteousness and mercy finds life, righteousness, and honor.

²² Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate: ²³ For the LORD will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.

²³ Your princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves: everyone loves bribes, and follows after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither does the cause of the widow come before them. ²⁴ Therefore says the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will rid myself of my adversaries, and avenge myself of my enemies:

⁹ Will you steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom you know not; ¹⁰ And come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations? ¹¹ Has this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it, says the LORD.

¹⁵ And I will cast you out of my sight, as I have cast out all your brethren, even the whole descendants of Ephraim.

¹⁸ As for his father, because he cruelly oppressed, robbed his brother by violence, and did that which is not good among his people, lo, even he shall die in his iniquity.

¹³ Behold, therefore I have struck my hands together at your dishonest gain which you have made, and at your blood which has been in the midst of you. ¹⁴ Can your heart endure, or can your hands be strong, in the days that I shall deal with you? I the LORD have spoken it, and will do it.

⁹ Hear this, I pray you, you heads of the house of Jacob, and rulers of the house of Israel, that abhor justice, and pervert all equity. ¹⁰ They build up Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity. ¹¹ Her heads judge for reward, and her priests teach for hire, and her prophets divine for money: yet will they lean upon the LORD, and say, Is not the LORD among us? no evil can come upon us. ¹² Therefore shall Zion for your sake be plowed like a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps of ruins, and the mountain of the house like the high places of the forest.

³ Then said he unto me, This is the curse that goes forth over the face of the whole earth: for every one that steals shall be cut off according to the writing on this side; and every one that swears falsely shall be cut off according to the writing on that side. ⁴ I will bring it forth, says the LORD of hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the thief, and into the house of him that swears falsely by my name: and it shall remain in the midst of his house, and shall consume it with its timber and its stones.

⁶ Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things comes the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
