⁶ All the days that he separates himself unto the LORD he shall go near no dead body.

²⁸ You shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor tattoo any marks upon you: I am the LORD.

¹ And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto the priests the sons of Aaron, and say unto them, There shall none defile himself for the dead among his people: ² But for his kin, that is near unto him, that is, for his mother, and for his father, and for his son, and for his daughter, and for his brother, ³ And for his sister a virgin, that is near unto him, who has had no husband; for her he may be defiled.

¹¹ Neither shall he go in to any dead body, nor defile himself for his father, or for his mother;

¹¹ He that touches the dead body of any man shall be unclean seven days. ¹² He shall purify himself with the water on the third day, and on the seventh day he shall be clean: but if he purify not himself the third day, then the seventh day he shall not be clean. ¹³ Whosoever touches the dead body of any man that is dead, and purifies not himself, defiles the tabernacle of the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from Israel: because the water of purification was not sprinkled upon him, he shall be unclean; his uncleanness is yet upon him. ¹⁴ This is the law, when a man dies in a tent: all that come into the tent, and all that is in the tent, shall be unclean seven days. ¹⁵ And every open vessel, which has no covering fastened upon it, is unclean. ¹⁶ And whosoever touches one that is slain with a sword in the open fields, or a dead body, or a bone of a man, or a grave, shall be unclean seven days. ¹⁷ And for an unclean person they shall take some of the ashes of the burnt heifer of purification for sin, and running water shall be put on them in a vessel: ¹⁸ And a clean person shall take hyssop, and dip it in the water, and sprinkle it upon the tent, and upon all the vessels, and upon the persons that were there, and upon him that touched a bone, or one slain, or one dead, or a grave: ¹⁹ And the clean person shall sprinkle upon the unclean on the third day, and on the seventh day: and on the seventh day he shall purify himself, and wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and shall be clean at evening. ²⁰ But the man that shall be unclean, and shall not purify himself, that soul shall be cut off from among the congregation, because he has defiled the sanctuary of the LORD: the water of purification has not been sprinkled upon him; he is unclean. ²¹ And it shall be a perpetual statute unto them, that he that sprinkles the water of purification shall wash his clothes; and he that touches the water of purification shall be unclean until evening. ²² And whatsoever the unclean person touches shall be unclean; and any person that touches it shall be unclean until evening.

⁵ For thus says the LORD, Enter not into the house of mourning, neither go to lament nor bemoan them: for I have taken away my peace from this people, says the LORD, even lovingkindness and mercies. ⁶ Both the great and the small shall die in this land: they shall not be buried, neither shall men lament for them, nor cut themselves, nor make themselves bald for them:

¹⁶ Son of man, behold, I take away from you the desire of your eyes with a stroke: yet neither shall you mourn nor weep, neither shall your tears run down. ¹⁷ Forbear to cry, make no mourning for the dead, bind the turban of your head upon you, and put on your shoes upon your feet, and cover not your lips, and eat not man’s bread of sorrow. ¹⁸ So I spoke unto the people in the morning: and at evening my wife died; and I did in the morning as I was commanded.

²¹ And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father. ²² But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.

⁵⁹ And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, allow me first to go and bury my father. ⁶⁰ Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but you go and preach the kingdom of God.

¹⁶ Therefore from now on know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet from now on know we him no more.
