³ I have seen the foolish taking root: but suddenly I cursed his habitation.

¹⁵ Cursed be the man that makes any graven or molten image, an abomination unto the LORD, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and puts it in a secret place. And all the people shall answer and say, Amen. ¹⁶ Cursed be he that dishonors his father or his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen. ¹⁷ Cursed be he that removes his neighbor’s landmark. And all the people shall say, Amen. ¹⁸ Cursed be he that makes the blind to wander out of the way. And all the people shall say, Amen. ¹⁹ Cursed be he that perverts the justice due the stranger, fatherless, and widow. And all the people shall say, Amen. ²⁰ Cursed be he that lies with his father’s wife; because he uncovers his father’s bed. And all the people shall say, Amen. ²¹ Cursed be he that lies with any kind of animal. And all the people shall say, Amen. ²² Cursed be he that lies with his sister, the daughter of his father, or the daughter of his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen. ²³ Cursed be he that lies with his mother-in-law. And all the people shall say, Amen. ²⁴ Cursed be he that attacks his neighbor secretly. And all the people shall say, Amen. ²⁵ Cursed be he that takes a bribe to slay an innocent person. And all the people shall say, Amen. ²⁶ Cursed be he that confirms not all the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say, Amen.

¹⁸ They are swift as the waters; their portion is cursed in the earth: no one turns into the way of the vineyards.

⁸ For what is the hope of the hypocrite, though he has gained, when God takes away his soul?

³⁵ I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a green bay tree. ³⁶ Yet he passed away, and, lo, he was not: yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.

²⁵ Let their habitation be desolate; and let none dwell in their tents.

³ For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked. ⁴ For there are no pains in their death: but their strength is firm. ⁵ They are not in trouble as other men; neither are they plagued like other men. ⁶ Therefore pride surrounds them as a chain; violence covers them as a garment. ⁷ Their eyes stand out with abundance: they have more than heart could wish. ⁸ They are corrupt, and speak wickedly concerning oppression: they speak loftily. ⁹ They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walks through the earth.

¹⁸ Surely you did set them in slippery places: you cast them down into destruction. ¹⁹ How are they brought into desolation, as in a moment! they are utterly consumed with terrors. ²⁰ As a dream when one awakes; so, O Lord, when you awake, you shall despise their image.

⁷ When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed forever:

¹ Righteous are you, O LORD, when I plead with you: yet let me talk with you of your judgments: Why does the way of the wicked prosper? why are all they happy that deal very treacherously? ² You have planted them, yea, they have taken root: they grow, yea, they bring forth fruit: you are near in their mouth, and far from their heart. ³ But you, O LORD, know me: you have seen me, and tested my heart toward you: pull them out like sheep for the slaughter, and prepare them for the day of slaughter.

²⁰ For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell therein: and his office let another take.
