²⁷ Lo this, we have searched it out, so it is; hear it, and know you it for your good.

¹³ To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command you this day for your good?

⁸ For inquire, I pray you, of the former age, and prepare yourself to the findings of their fathers: ⁹ (For we are but of yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth are a shadow:) ¹⁰ Shall not they teach you, and tell you, and utter words out of their heart?

² No doubt you are the people, and wisdom shall die with you.

⁹ What know you, that we know not? what understand you, which is not in us? ¹⁰ With us are both the gray headed and very aged men, much older than your father.

¹⁷ I will show you, hear me; and that which I have seen I will declare;

² Can a man be profitable unto God, as he that is wise may be profitable unto himself?

¹¹ Behold, I waited for your words; I gave ear to your reasons, while you searched out what to say. ¹² Yea, I attended unto you, and, behold, there was none of you that convinced Job, or that answered his words:

² The works of the LORD are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure in them.

³ Yea, if you cry after knowledge, and lift up your voice for understanding; ⁴ If you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hid treasures; ⁵ Then shall you understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

¹² If you are wise, you shall be wise for yourself: but if you scoff, you alone shall bear it.
