¹ Then Job answered and said, ² Even today is my complaint bitter: my hand is heavy in spite of my groaning. ³ Oh that I knew where I might find him! that I might come even to his seat! ⁴ I would order my cause before him, and fill my mouth with arguments. ⁵ I would know the words which he would answer me, and understand what he would say unto me. ⁶ Will he plead against me with his great power? No; but he would put strength in me. ⁷ There the righteous might reason with him; so should I be delivered forever from my judge. ⁸ Behold, I go forward, but he is not there; and backward, but I cannot perceive him: ⁹ On the left hand, where he does work, but I cannot behold him: he hides himself on the right hand, that I cannot see him: ¹⁰ But he knows the way that I take: when he has tested me, I shall come forth as gold. ¹¹ My foot has held fast to his steps, his way have I kept, and not turned aside. ¹² Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food. ¹³ But he is of one mind, and who can turn him? and what his soul desires, even that he does. ¹⁴ For he performs the thing that is appointed for me: and many such things are with him. ¹⁵ Therefore am I troubled at his presence: when I consider, I am afraid of him. ¹⁶ For God makes my heart soft, and the Almighty troubles me: ¹⁷ Because I was not cut off before the darkness, neither has he covered the darkness from my face.

² Oh that my grief were thoroughly weighed, and my calamity laid in the balances together! ³ For now it would be heavier than the sand of the sea: therefore my words are swallowed up.

¹¹ Therefore I will not restrain my mouth; I will speak in the anguish of my spirit; I will complain in the bitterness of my soul.

¹ My soul is weary of my life; I will leave my complaint upon myself; I will speak in the bitterness of my soul.

⁶ And that he would show you the secrets of wisdom, that they are double to that which is! Know therefore that God exacts of you less than your iniquity deserves.

⁴ For day and night your hand was heavy upon me: my strength is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.

² In the day of my trouble I sought the Lord: my sore ran in the night, and ceased not: my soul refused to be comforted. ³ I remembered God, and was troubled: I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah. ⁴ You hold my eyes from closing: I am so troubled that I cannot speak. ⁵ I have considered the days of old, the years of ancient times. ⁶ I call to remembrance my song in the night: I commune with my own heart: and my spirit made diligent search. ⁷ Will the Lord cast off forever? and will he be favorable no more? ⁸ Is his mercy ceased forever? does his promise fail forevermore? ⁹ Has God forgotten to be gracious? has he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah.

¹⁹ Remembering my affliction and my misery, the wormwood and the gall. ²⁰ My soul has them still in remembrance, and is humbled in me.

³ Surely I would speak to the Almighty, and I desire to reason with God.

²¹ O that one might plead for a man with God, as a man pleads for his neighbor!

³⁵ Oh that one would hear me! behold, my desire is, that the Almighty would answer me, and that my adversary had written a book. ³⁶ Surely I would take it upon my shoulder, and bind it as a crown to me. ³⁷ I would declare unto him the number of my steps; as a prince would I go near unto him.

¹ Moreover the LORD answered Job, and said, ² Shall he that contends with the Almighty instruct him? he that reproves God, let him answer it. ³ Then Job answered the LORD, and said, ⁴ Behold, I am vile; what shall I answer you? I will lay my hand upon my mouth. ⁵ Once have I spoken; but I will not answer: yea, twice; but I will proceed no further.

⁸ Yea, in the way of your judgments, O LORD, have we waited for you; the desire of our soul is to your name, and to the remembrance of you.

⁶ Seek you the LORD while he may be found, call you upon him while he is near: ⁷ Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

⁷ O LORD, though our iniquities testify against us, do it for your name’s sake: for our backslidings are many; we have sinned against you.

¹⁹ That is, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and has committed unto us the word of reconciliation. ²⁰ Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God.

⁶ Seeing therefore it remains that some must enter into it, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:

²⁵ That be far from you to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked: and that the righteous should be as the wicked, that be far from you: Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right? ²⁶ And the LORD said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes. ²⁷ And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord, who am but dust and ashes: ²⁸ Suppose there shall lack five of the fifty righteous: will you destroy all the city for lack of five? And he said, If I find there forty and five, I will not destroy it. ²⁹ And he spoke unto him yet again, and said, Suppose there shall be forty found there. And he said, I will not do it for forty's sake. ³⁰ And he said unto him, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak: Suppose there shall thirty be found there. And he said, I will not do it, if I find thirty there. ³¹ And he said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord: Suppose there shall be twenty found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for twenty's sake. ³² And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Suppose ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten's sake.

¹² And you said, I will surely do you good, and make your descendants as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.

¹² Why should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from your fierce wrath, and change from this evil against your people. ¹³ Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, your servants, to whom you swore by your own self, and said unto them, I will multiply your descendants as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your descendants, and they shall inherit it forever.

¹³ And Moses said unto the LORD, Then the Egyptians shall hear it, (for you brought up this people in your might from among them;) ¹⁴ And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land: for they have heard that you LORD are among this people, that you LORD are seen face to face, and that your cloud stands over them, and that you go before them, by daytime in a pillar of a cloud, and in a pillar of fire by night. ¹⁵ Now if you shall kill all this people as one man, then the nations which have heard the fame of you will speak, saying, ¹⁶ Because the LORD was not able to bring this people into the land which he swore to give unto them, therefore he has slain them in the wilderness. ¹⁷ And now, I beseech you, let the power of my LORD be great, according as you have spoken, saying, ¹⁸ The LORD is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation. ¹⁹ Pardon, I beseech you, the iniquity of this people according unto the greatness of your mercy, and as you have forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.

⁸ O Lord, what shall I say, when Israel turns their backs before their enemies! ⁹ For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land shall hear of it, and shall surround us, and cut off our name from the earth: and what will you do for your great name?

¹⁸ Behold now, I have prepared my case; I know that I shall be justified.

¹⁹ Teach us what we shall say unto him; for we cannot order our speech because of darkness.

¹¹ For your name's sake, O LORD, pardon my iniquity; for it is great.

¹ Judge me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation: O deliver me from the deceitful and unjust man.

²⁶ Put me in remembrance: let us contend together: state your case, that you may be proved right.

¹⁸ O my God, incline your ear, and hear; open your eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by your name: for we do not present our supplications before you for our righteousness, but for your great mercies. ¹⁹ O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for your own sake, O my God: for your city and your people are called by your name.

² I will say unto God, Do not condemn me; show me why you contend with me.

²² Then call, and I will answer: or let me speak, and you answer me. ²³ How many are my iniquities and sins? make me know my transgression and my sin.

² I know that you can do everything, and that no thought can be withheld from you. ³ Who is he that hides counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered what I understood not; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not. ⁴ Hear, I ask you, and I will speak: I will question you, and you declare unto me. ⁵ I have heard of you by the hearing of the ear: but now my eye sees you. ⁶ Therefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.

³ But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man's judgment: yea, I judge not my own self. ⁴ For I know nothing against myself; yet am I not thereby justified: but he that judges me is the Lord.

⁴ He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who has hardened himself against him, and has prospered?

¹⁹ If I speak of strength, lo, he is strong: and if of justice, who shall set me a time to plead?

³³ Neither is there any mediator between us, that might lay his hand upon us both. ³⁴ Let him take his rod away from me, and let not his fear terrify me:

²¹ Withdraw your hand far from me: and let not your dread make me afraid.

³ In the day when I cried you answered me, and strengthened me with strength in my soul.

⁴ Fury is not in me: who would set the briers and thorns against me in battle? I would go through them, I would burn them together.

⁸ In measure, by sending it away, you will contend with it: he removes it with his fierce blast in the day of the east wind.

³³ As I live, says the Lord GOD, surely with a mighty hand, and with an outstretched arm, and with fury poured out, will I rule over you:

³⁵ And I will bring you into the wilderness of the people, and there will I enter into judgment with you face to face.

⁹ And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for you: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather boast in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. ¹⁰ Therefore I take pleasure in weaknesses, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

¹⁵ For, though I were righteous, yet could I not answer, but I would make supplication to my judge.

¹⁸ Come now, and let us reason together, says the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

⁵ Will he reserve his anger forever? will he keep it to the end? Behold, you have spoken and done all the evil things that you could.

¹ Righteous are you, O LORD, when I plead with you: yet let me talk with you of your judgments: Why does the way of the wicked prosper? why are all they happy that deal very treacherously?

¹⁹ Now we know that whatsoever things the law says, it says to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. ²⁰ Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. ²¹ But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; ²² Even the righteousness of God which is by faith in Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

¹ There is therefore now no condemnation to them who are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

³³ Who shall lay anything to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifies. ³⁴ Who is he that condemns? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.

¹¹ Lo, he goes by me, and I see him not: he passes on also, but I perceive him not.

¹⁴ Although you say you shall not see him, yet justice is before him; therefore you must trust in him.

¹ Why stand you afar off, O LORD? why hide you yourself in times of trouble?

¹ [To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.] How long will you forget me, O LORD? forever? how long will you hide your face from me? ² How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall my enemy be exalted over me? ³ Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;

¹⁵ Verily you are a God that hides yourself, O God of Israel, the Savior.

¹⁶ Who only has immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man has seen, nor can see: to whom be honor and power everlasting. Amen.

⁴⁶ How long, LORD? will you hide yourself forever? shall your anger burn like fire?

¹⁷ And I will wait upon the LORD, that hides his face from the house of Jacob, and I will hope in him.

¹⁹ For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do righteousness and justice; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he has spoken of him.

² And you shall remember all the way which the LORD your God led you these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you, and to test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep his commandments, or not.

³ I beseech you, O LORD, remember now how I have walked before you in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in your sight. And Hezekiah wept bitterly.

¹¹ But put forth your hand now, and touch all that he has, and he will curse you to your face. ¹² And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he has is in your power; only upon himself put not forth your hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.

⁵ But put forth your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse you to your face. ⁶ And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he is in your hand; but spare his life.

⁵ I have heard of you by the hearing of the ear: but now my eye sees you. ⁶ Therefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes. ⁷ And it was so, that after the LORD had spoken these words unto Job, the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against you, and against your two friends: for you have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job has. ⁸ Therefore take unto you now seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you: for him will I accept: lest I deal with you after your folly, in that you have not spoken of me the thing which is right, like my servant Job.

⁶ For the LORD knows the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

³ You have proved my heart; you have visited me in the night; you have tested me, and shall find nothing; I have purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.

¹⁰ For you, O God, have proved us: you have tried us, as silver is tried.

¹ [To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.] O LORD, you have searched me, and known me. ² You know my downsitting and my uprising, you understand my thought afar off. ³ You search out my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways.

³ The refining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the LORD tries the hearts.

⁹ And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will test them as gold is tested: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, They are my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God.

² But who may endure the day of his coming? and who shall stand when he appears? for he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap: ³ And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness.

¹⁷ He said unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, do you love me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Do you love me? And he said unto him, Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you. Jesus said unto him, Feed my sheep.

¹⁹ Nevertheless the foundation of God stands sure, having this seal, The Lord knows them that are his. And, Let every one that names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

¹⁷ By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son.

² My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials; ³ Knowing this, that the trying of your faith works patience. ⁴ But let patience have her perfect work, that you may be perfect and entire, lacking in nothing.

¹² Blessed is the man that endures trial: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord has promised to them that love him.

⁷ That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:

² And now, behold, the king walks before you: and I am old and gray headed; and, behold, my sons are with you: and I have walked before you from my childhood unto this day. ³ Behold, here I am: witness against me before the LORD, and before his anointed: whose ox have I taken? or whose donkey have I taken? or whom have I defrauded? whom have I oppressed? or of whose hand have I received any bribe to blind my eyes with? and I will restore it to you. ⁴ And they said, you have not defrauded us, nor oppressed us, neither have you taken anything of any man's hand. ⁵ And he said unto them, The LORD is witness against you, and his anointed is witness this day, that you have not found anything in my hand. And they answered, He is witness.

⁹ The righteous also shall hold to his way, and he that has clean hands shall be stronger and stronger.

⁵ Hold up my steps in your paths, that my feet slip not.

²⁰ The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness; according to the cleanness of my hands has he recompensed me. ²¹ For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God. ²² For all his judgments were before me, and I did not put away his statutes from me. ²³ I was also upright before him, and I kept myself from my iniquity. ²⁴ Therefore has the LORD recompensed me according to my righteousness, according to the cleanness of my hands in his eyesight.

³ The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: he has ceased to be wise, and to do good.

¹⁸ Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from your way;

⁵ As for such as turn aside unto their crooked ways, the LORD shall lead them forth with the workers of iniquity: but peace shall be upon Israel.

⁶ And those that are turned back from the LORD; and those that have not sought the LORD, nor inquired for him.

¹³ Those on the rock are they, who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who for awhile believe, and in time of temptation fall away. ¹⁴ And that which fell among thorns are they, who, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to maturity. ¹⁵ But that on the good ground are they, who in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

¹⁸ And when they were come to him, he said unto them, You know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all times, ¹⁹ Serving the Lord with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews:

³³ I have coveted no man's silver, or gold, or apparel. ³⁴ Yea, you yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me.

⁷ To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life:

¹² For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but by the grace of God, we have conducted ourselves in the world, and more abundantly toward you.

¹⁰ You are witnesses, and God also, how holy and just and unblamable was our behavior among you that believe:

²⁰ For if after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. ²¹ For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. ²² But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog has turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

¹⁰ Then should I still have comfort; yea, I would exult myself in sorrow: let him not spare; for I have not concealed the words of the Holy One.

²² Receive, I pray you, the law from his mouth, and lay up his words in your heart.

⁹ The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. ¹⁰ More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.

¹¹ Your word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against you.

¹⁰³ How sweet are your words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!

¹²⁷ Therefore I love your commandments above gold; yea, above fine gold.

¹⁶ Your words were found, and I did eat them; and your word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of my heart: for I am called by your name, O LORD God of hosts.

⁴² And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of food at the proper time?

⁴⁶ The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looks not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in pieces, and will appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.

³² But he said unto them, I have food to eat that you know not of.

³⁴ Jesus said unto them, My food is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.

⁶⁶ From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. ⁶⁷ Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will you also go away? ⁶⁸ Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? you have the words of eternal life. ⁶⁹ And we believe and are sure that you are that Christ, the Son of the living God.

³¹ Then said Jesus to those Jews who believed on him, If you continue in my word, then are you my disciples indeed;

²² Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

³⁸ Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. ³⁹ But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

² As newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby:

¹⁹ They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.

¹⁹ God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: has he said, and shall he not do it? or has he spoken, and shall he not make it good? ²⁰ Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he has blessed; and I cannot reverse it.

¹² Behold, he takes away, who can hinder him? who will say unto him, What do you? ¹³ If God will not withdraw his anger, the proud helpers do bow before him.

¹⁰ If he cuts off, and shuts up, or gathers together, then who can hinder him?

¹⁴ Behold, he breaks down, and it cannot be built again: he shuts up a man, and there can be no opening.

²⁹ When he gives quietness, who then can make trouble? and when he hides his face, who then can behold him? whether it be done against a nation, or against a man only:

³ But our God is in the heavens: he has done whatsoever he has pleased.

⁶ Whatsoever the LORD pleased, that did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places.

²¹ There are many plans in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand.

¹⁵ That which is crooked cannot be made straight: and that which is lacking cannot be numbered.

¹⁴ I know that, whatsoever God does, it shall be forever: nothing can be added to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God does it, that men should fear before him.

²⁴ The LORD of hosts has sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, so shall it stand: ²⁵ That I will break the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders. ²⁶ This is the purpose that is purposed upon the whole earth: and this is the hand that is stretched out upon all the nations. ²⁷ For the LORD of hosts has purposed, and who shall annul it? and his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back?

¹⁰ Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:

³⁵ And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing: and he does according to his will in the army of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth: and none can restrain his hand, or say unto him, What do you?

¹⁹ You will say then unto me, Why does he yet find fault? For who has resisted his will?

⁹ Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he has purposed in himself: ¹⁰ That in the dispensation of the fullness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: ¹¹ In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who works all things after the counsel of his own will:

¹⁷ Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.

³ So am I made to possess months of vanity, and wearisome nights are appointed to me.

¹⁹ Your way is in the sea, and your path in the great waters, and your footsteps are not known.

² Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and justice are the habitation of his throne.

²⁷ Why say you, O Jacob, and speak, O Israel, My way is hidden from the LORD, and my right is passed over by my God? ²⁸ Have you not known? have you not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, faints not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.

⁹ The LORD'S voice cries unto the city, and wisdom shall see your name: Hear the rod, and who has appointed it.

³³ O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!

³ That no man should be moved by these afflictions: for you yourselves know that we are appointed unto this.

⁹ For God has not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

⁸ And, A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense, even to them who stumble at the word, being disobedient: to which also they were appointed.

¹⁵ If I am wicked, woe unto me; and if I am righteous, yet can I not lift up my head. I am full of disgrace; therefore see my affliction;

³ Oh that I knew where I might find him! that I might come even to his seat!

²³ For destruction from God was a terror to me, and by reason of his majesty I could not endure.

³ I remembered God, and was troubled: I complained, and my spirit was overwhelmed. Selah.

¹²⁰ My flesh trembles for fear of you; and I am afraid of your judgments.

¹⁶ When I heard, my body trembled; my lips quivered at the voice: rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled in myself, that I might rest in the day of trouble: when he comes up unto the people, he will invade them with his troops.

³ And shall say unto them, Hear, O Israel, you approach this day unto battle against your enemies: let not your hearts faint, fear not, and do not tremble, neither be you terrified because of them;

²⁰ And she said unto them, Call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for the Almighty has dealt very bitterly with me.

² As God lives, who has taken away my right; and the Almighty, who has made bitter my soul;

¹⁴ I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my body.

¹⁶ Your fierce anger goes over me; your terrors have cut me off.

⁵ Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.

¹⁶ For I will not contend forever, neither will I be always angry: for the spirit should fail before me, and the souls which I have made.

⁴⁶ And lest your heart faint, and you fear for the rumor that shall be heard in the land; a rumor shall both come one year, and after that in another year shall come a rumor, and violence in the land, ruler against ruler.

¹⁵ Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD is at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come.

²⁰ Behold therefore, I will gather you unto your fathers, and you shall be gathered into your grave in peace; and your eyes shall not see all the evil which I will bring upon this place. And they brought the king word again.

⁹ Even that it would please God to destroy me; that he would let loose his hand, and cut me off!

²² He believes not that he shall return out of darkness, and he is waited for by the sword.

⁶ The light shall be dark in his tent, and his lamp shall be put out with him.

¹⁸ He shall be driven from light into darkness, and chased out of the world.

⁸ He has fenced up my way that I cannot pass, and he has set darkness in my paths.

¹¹ Or darkness, that you can not see; and abundance of waters cover you.

¹ The righteous perishes, and no man lays it to heart: and merciful men are taken away, none considering that the righteous is taken away from the evil to come.
