⁷ If a man shall deliver unto his neighbor money or goods to keep, and it be stolen out of the man's house; if the thief be found, let him pay double.

⁴ If the theft be certainly found in his hand alive, whether it be ox, or donkey, or sheep; he shall restore double.

³⁰ Men do not despise a thief, if he steals to satisfy his soul when he is hungry; ³¹ But if he is found, he shall restore sevenfold; he shall give up all the goods of his house.

²⁶ As the thief is ashamed when he is found, so is the house of Israel ashamed; they, their kings, their princes, and their priests, and their prophets,

⁶ This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bore what was put therein.
