⁵ And Rehoboam dwelt in Jerusalem, and built cities for defense in Judah.

² That the cities which Huram had restored to Solomon, Solomon rebuilt them, and caused the children of Israel to dwell there. ³ And Solomon went to Hamath-zobah, and prevailed against it. ⁴ And he built Tadmor in the wilderness, and all the storage cities, which he built in Hamath. ⁵ Also he built upper Beth-horon, and lower Beth-horon, fortified cities, with walls, gates, and bars; ⁶ And Baalath, and all the storage cities that Solomon had, and all the chariot cities, and the cities for the horsemen, and all that Solomon desired to build in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and throughout all the land of his dominion.

²³ And he dealt wisely, and dispersed of all his sons throughout all the countries of Judah and Benjamin, unto every fortified city: and he gave them provisions in abundance. And he procured many wives for them.

⁶ And he built fortified cities in Judah: for the land had rest, and he had no war in those years; because the LORD had given him rest. ⁷ Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about them walls, and towers, gates, and bars, while the land is yet before us; because we have sought the LORD our God, we have sought him, and he has given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered.

⁶ Then Asa the king took all Judah; and they carried away the stones of Ramah, and the timber thereof, with which Baasha was building; and he built with them Geba and Mizpah.

¹² And Jehoshaphat grew great exceedingly; and he built in Judah fortresses, and storage cities.

⁸ And he took away the covering of Judah, and you did look in that day to the armor of the house of the forest. ⁹ You have seen also the breaches of the city of David, that they are many: and you gathered together the waters of the lower pool. ¹⁰ And you have numbered the houses of Jerusalem, and the houses have you broken down to fortify the wall. ¹¹ You made also a ditch between the two walls for the water of the old pool: but you have not looked unto its maker, neither had respect unto him that fashioned it long ago.
