¹¹ Wherefore I swore in My wrath, that they should not enter into My rest.'

² And on the seventh day God finished His work which He had made; and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made. ³ And God blessed the seventh day, and hallowed it; because that in it He rested from all His work which God in creating had made.

²³ surely they shall not see the land which I swore unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that despised Me see it.

²⁸ Say unto them: As I live, saith the LORD, surely as ye have spoken in Mine ears, so will I do to you: ²⁹ your carcasses shall fall in this wilderness, and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, ye that have murmured against Me; ³⁰ surely ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I lifted up My hand that I would make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.

³⁴ And the LORD heard the voice of your words, and was wroth, and swore, saying: ³⁵ 'Surely there shall not one of these men, even this evil generation, see the good land, which I swore to give unto your fathers,

⁹ for ye are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which the LORD your God giveth thee.

¹⁶ Thus saith the LORD: Stand ye in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said: 'We will not walk therein.'

⁴ Yet let no man strive, neither let any man reprove; for thy people are as they that strive with the priest. ⁵ Therefore shalt thou stumble in the day, and the prophet also shall stumble with thee in the night; and I will destroy thy mother. ⁶ My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to Me; seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I also will forget thy children. ⁷ The more they were increased, the more they sinned against Me; I will change their glory into shame. ⁸ They feed on the sin of My people, and set their heart on their iniquity. ⁹ And it is like people, like priest; and I will punish him for his ways, and will recompense him his doings. ¹⁰ And they shall eat, and not have enough, they shall commit harlotry, and shall not increase; because they have left off to take heed to the LORD. ¹¹ Harlotry, wine, and new wine take away the heart.

²⁸ Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. ²⁹ Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart; and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

¹¹ As I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest.

¹⁸ And to whom sware he that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that were disobedient?

³ For we who have believed do enter into that rest, even as he hath said, As I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest; although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

⁵ and in this place again, They shall not enter into my rest.

¹³ And I heard the voice from heaven saying, Write, Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from henceforth; yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow with them.
