⁷ (49:8) No man can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him -

²⁶ For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and forfeit his life? or what shall a man give in exchange for his life?

²⁸ even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

⁹ But the wise answered, saying, Not so, lest there be not enough for us and you; go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.

⁶ who gave himself a ransom for all, the testimony to be borne in its own times,
