²⁵ And they murmured in their tents, they hearkened not unto the voice of the LORD.

¹ And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night. ² And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron; and the whole congregation said unto them: 'Would that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would we had died in this wilderness! ³ And wherefore doth the LORD bring us unto this land, to fall by the sword? Our wives and our little ones will be a prey; were it not better for us to return into Egypt?' ⁴ And they said one to another: 'Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt.'

²² surely all those men that have seen My glory, and My signs, which I wrought in Egypt and in the wilderness, yet have put Me to proof these ten times, and have not hearkened to My voice;

²⁷ 'How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, that keep murmuring against Me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they keep murmuring against Me. ²⁸ Say unto them: As I live, saith the LORD, surely as ye have spoken in Mine ears, so will I do to you: ²⁹ your carcasses shall fall in this wilderness, and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, ye that have murmured against Me;

²⁶ Yet ye would not go up, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God; ²⁷ and ye murmured in your tents, and said: 'Because the LORD hated us, He hath brought us forth out of the land of Egypt, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to destroy us.

⁷ For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the flock of His hand. To-day, if ye would but hearken to His voice! ⁸ 'Harden not your heart, as at Meribah, as in the day of Massah in the wilderness; ⁹ When your fathers tried Me, proved Me, even though they saw My work.

⁷ Wherefore, even as the Holy Spirit saith, To-day if ye shall hear his voice, ⁸ Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, Like as in the day of the trial in the wilderness,

¹⁵ while it is said, To-day if ye shall hear his voice, Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.
