²⁸ Be not a witness against thy neighbour without cause; and deceive not with thy lips.

¹⁶ (20:13) Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

⁹ And she wrote in the letters, saying: 'Proclaim a fast, and set Naboth at the head of the people; ¹⁰ and set two men, base fellows, before him, and let them bear witness against him, saying: Thou didst curse God and the king. And then carry him out, and stone him, that he die.' ¹¹ And the men of his city, even the elders and the nobles who dwelt in his city, did as Jezebel had sent unto them, according as it was written in the letters which she had sent unto them. ¹² They proclaimed a fast, and set Naboth at the head of the people. ¹³ And the two men, the base fellows, came in and sat before him; and the base fellows bore witness against him, even against Naboth, in the presence of the people, saying: 'Naboth did curse God and the king.' Then they carried him forth out of the city, and stoned him with stones, that he died.

³ And the LORD said unto Satan: 'Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a whole-hearted and an upright man, one that feareth God, and shunneth evil? and he still holdeth fast his integrity, although thou didst move Me against him, to destroy him without cause.'

⁷ For without cause have they hid for me the pit, even their net, without cause have they digged for my soul.

¹¹ Unrighteous witnesses rise up; they ask me of things that I know not.

¹⁵ Without are the dogs, and the sorcerers, and the fornicators, and the murderers, and the idolaters, and every one that loveth and maketh a lie.
