¹² If thou sayest: 'Behold, we knew not this', doth not He that weigheth the hearts consider it? And He that keepeth thy soul, doth not He know it? And shall not He render to every man according to his works?

⁶ The LORD killeth, and maketh alive; He bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up.

⁷ But the LORD said unto Samuel: 'Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have rejected him; for it is not as man seeth: for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.'

²⁹ And though man be risen up to pursue thee, and to seek thy soul, yet the soul of my lord shall be bound in the bundle of life with the LORD thy God; and the souls of thine enemies, them shall he sling out, as from the hollow of a sling.

¹¹ For the work of a man will He requite unto him, and cause every man to find according to his ways.

⁹ (7:10) Oh that a full measure of evil might come upon the wicked, and that Thou wouldest establish the righteous; for the righteous God trieth the heart and reins.

³ Thou hast tried my heart, Thou hast visited it in the night; Thou hast tested me, and Thou findest not that I had a thought which should not pass my mouth.

⁹ Who hath set our soul in life, and suffered not our foot to be moved,

³ He will not suffer thy foot to be moved; He that keepeth thee will not slumber.

⁸ The LORD shall guard thy going out and thy coming in, from this time forth and for ever.

²¹ For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and He maketh even all his paths.

² Every way of a man is right in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the hearts.

⁸ (5:7) If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and the violent perverting of justice and righteousness in the state, marvel not at the matter; for one higher than the high watcheth, and there are higher than they.

¹⁰ I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his doings.

¹⁹ great in counsel, and mighty in work; whose eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men, to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings;

²³ but hast lifted up thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of His house before thee, and thou and thy lords, thy consorts and thy concubines, have drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know; and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not glorified;

²⁷ For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then shall he render unto every man according to his deeds.

²⁸ for in him we live, and move, and have our being, as certain even of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

⁶ who will render to every man according to his works:

¹⁶ in the day when God shall judge the secrets of men, according to my gospel, by Jesus Christ.

⁵ Wherefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and make manifest the counsels of the hearts, and then shall each man have his praise from God.

¹⁰ For we must all be made manifest before the judgment-seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

¹² For the word of God is living, and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and quick to discern the thoughts and intents of the heart. ¹³ And there is no creature that is not manifest in his sight; but all things are naked and laid open before the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

¹⁸ and the Living one, and I was dead, and behold, I am alive for evermore. Amen. And I have the keys of death and of Hades.

¹⁸ And to the angel of the church in Thyatira write; These things saith the Son of God, who hath his eyes like a flame of fire, and his feet are like unto burnished brass;

²³ And I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am he that searcheth the reins and hearts; and I will give unto each one of you according to your works.

¹² And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life; and the dead were judged out of the things which were written in the books, according to their works. ¹³ And the sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them; and they were judged every man according to their works. ¹⁴ And death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death, even the lake of fire. ¹⁵ And if any was not found written in the book of life, he was cast into the lake of fire.

¹² Behold, I come quickly, and my reward is with me, to render to each man according as his work shall be.
