¹ The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD as the watercourses: He turneth it whithersoever He will.

²² and kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with joy; for the LORD had made them joyful, and had turned the heart of the king of Assyria unto them, to strengthen their hands in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.

²⁷ Blessed be the LORD, the God of our fathers, who hath put such a thing as this in the king's heart, to beautify the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem; ²⁸ and hath extended mercy unto me before the king, and his counsellors, and before all the king's mighty princes. And I was strengthened according to the hand of the LORD my God upon me, and I gathered together out of Israel chief men to go up with me.

¹¹ O Lord, I beseech Thee, let now Thine ear be attentive to the prayer of Thy servant, and to the prayer of Thy servants, who delight to fear Thy name; and prosper, I pray Thee, Thy servant this day, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man.' Now I was cupbearer to the king.

⁴ Then the king said unto me: 'For what dost thou make request?' So I prayed to the God of heaven.

¹⁵ Thou didst cleave fountain and brook; Thou driedst up ever-flowing rivers.

⁴ Above the voices of many waters, the mighty breakers of the sea, the LORD on high is mighty.

²⁵ He turned their heart to hate His people, to deal craftily with His servants.

⁴⁶ He made them also to be pitied of all those that carried them captive.

³ The sea saw it, and fled; the Jordan turned backward.

⁵ What aileth thee, O thou sea, that thou fleest? thou Jordan, that thou turnest backward?

¹ The preparations of the heart are man's, but the answer of the tongue is from the LORD.

⁹ A man's heart deviseth his way; but the LORD directeth his steps.

²⁴ A man's goings are of the LORD; how then can man look to his way?

¹⁹ Behold, I will do a new thing; now shall it spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

²⁷ That saith to the deep: 'Be dry, and I will dry up thy rivers';

³⁵ (4:32) And all the inhabitants of the earth are reputed as nothing; and He doeth according to His will in the host of heaven, and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay His hand, or say unto Him: What doest Thou?

¹⁰ and delivered him out of all his afflictions, and gave him favor and wisdom before Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house.

⁴ And the third poured out his bowl into the rivers and into the fountains of the waters, and it became blood.

¹² And the sixth poured out his bowl upon the great river, the river Euphrates, and the water thereof was dried up, that the way might by made ready for the kings that come from the sunrising.
