²⁹ When they cast thee down, thou shalt say: 'There is lifting up'; for the humble person He saveth.

¹⁹ He will deliver thee in six troubles; yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee. ²⁰ In famine He will redeem thee from death; and in war from the power of the sword. ²¹ Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue; neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh. ²² At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh; neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth. ²³ For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field; and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee. ²⁴ And thou shalt know that thy tent is in peace; and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt miss nothing. ²⁵ Thou shalt know also that thy seed shall be great, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth. ²⁶ Thou shalt come to thy grave in a ripe age, like as a shock of corn cometh in in its season. ²⁷ Lo this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know thou it for thy good.

² (9:3) I will be glad and exult in Thee; I will sing praise to Thy name, O Most High: ³ (9:4) When mine enemies are turned back, they stumble and perish at Thy presence;

¹⁴ 'Because he hath set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he hath known My name. ¹⁵ He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him, and bring him to honour. ¹⁶ With long life will I satisfy him, and make Him to behold My salvation.'

⁹ (92:10) For, lo, Thine enemies, O LORD, for, lo, Thine enemies shall perish: all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered. ¹⁰ (92:11) But my horn hast Thou exalted like the horn of the wild-ox; I am anointed with rich oil. ¹¹ (92:12) Mine eye also hath gazed on them that lie in wait for me, mine ears have heard my desire of the evil-doers that rise up against me.

⁶ For though the LORD be high, yet regardeth He the lowly, and the haughty He knoweth from afar.

²³ A man's pride shall bring him low; but he that is of a lowly spirit shall attain to honour.

¹⁵ For thus saith the High and Lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy: I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.

² For all these things hath My hand made, and so all these things came to be, saith the LORD; but on this man will I look, even on him that is poor and of a contrite spirit, and trembleth at My word.

²⁶ (21:31) thus saith the Lord GOD: The mitre shall be removed, and the crown taken off; this shall be no more the same: that which is low shall be exalted, and that which is high abased. ²⁷ (21:32) A ruin, a ruin, a ruin, will I make it; this also shall be no more, until he come whose right it is, and I will give it him.

¹² And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be humbled, and whosoever shall humble himself shall be exalted.

⁵² He hath put down princes from their thrones, And hath exalted them of low degree.

¹¹ For every one that exalteth himself shall be humbled, and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

⁹ And he spake also this parable unto certain who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and set all others at nought: ¹⁰ Two men went up into the temple to pray, the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. ¹¹ The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as the rest of men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. ¹² I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I get. ¹³ But the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote his breast, saying, God, be thou merciful to me a sinner. ¹⁴ I say unto you, This man went down to his house justified rather than indeed the other; for every one that exalteth himself shall be humbled, but he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

⁶ But he giveth more grace. Wherefore the scripture saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the humble.

⁵ Likewise, ye younger, be subject unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another. Gird yourselves with humility, for God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace to the humble.
