⁴ And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.'

⁸ 'Take the rod, and assemble the congregation, thou, and Aaron thy brother, and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes, that it give forth its water; and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock; so thou shalt give the congregation and their cattle drink.'

⁹ 'Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there; behold, I have commanded a widow there to sustain thee.'

⁵ And he lay down and slept under a broom-tree; and, behold, an angel touched him, and said unto him: 'Arise and eat.' ⁶ And he looked, and, behold, there was at his head a cake baked on the hot stones, and a cruse of water. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again. ⁷ And the angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said: 'Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee.' ⁸ And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meal forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.

²⁹ When He giveth quietness, who then can condemn? And when He hideth His face, who then can behold Him? whether it be done unto a nation, or unto a man, alike;

⁸ Or who shut up the sea with doors, when it broke forth, and issued out of the womb; ⁹ When I made the cloud the garment thereof, and thick darkness a swaddlingband for it, ¹⁰ And prescribed for it My decree, and set bars and doors, ¹¹ And said: 'Thus far shalt thou come, but no further; and here shall thy proud waves be stayed'? ¹² Hast thou commanded the morning since thy days began, and caused the dayspring to know its place; ¹³ That it might take hold of the ends of the earth, and the wicked be shaken out of it?

⁴¹ Who provideth for the raven his prey, when his young ones cry unto God, and wander for lack of food?

⁸ Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. ⁹ For He spoke, and it was; He commanded, and it stood.

⁹ He giveth to the beast his food, and to the young ravens which cry.

³ And though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out thence; and though they be hid from My sight in the bottom of the sea, thence will I command the serpent, and he shall bite them. ⁴ And though they go into captivity before their enemies, thence will I command the sword, and it shall slay them; and I will set Mine eyes upon them for evil, and not for good.

⁴ But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

¹¹ Then the devil leaveth him, and behold, angels came and ministered unto him.
