¹ I have spoken these things to you, that you may not be offended.

⁶ and blessed is he, whosoever may not be offended in me.

²¹ but it has no root in him, but is temporary; and tribulation or persecution arising on account of the word, immediately he is offended.

⁵⁷ And they were offended in Him. And Jesus said to them; A prophet is not without honor, except in his own country, and in his own house.

¹⁰ and then many will be offended; and they will betray one another, and hate one another.

³¹ Then Jesus says to them, You will all be offended in me this night: for it has been written, I will smite the Shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be scattered. ³² And after I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee. ³³ But Peter responding said to Him, If all shall be offended in thee, I will never be offended.

¹¹ I have spoken these things to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.

¹⁸ If the world hates you, know that it first hated me. ¹⁹ If you were of the world, the world would love its own: but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, on this account the world hates you. ²⁰ Remember the word which I spoke to you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they persecuted me, they will persecute you; if they kept my word, they will also keep yours. ²¹ But they will do all these things to you on account of my name, because they do not know Him that sent me. ²² If I did not come and speak to them, they had not sin: now they have no excuse for their sin. ²³ The one hating me hates my Father also. ²⁴ If I did not works among them which no other did: they had not sin: but now they have both seen and hated both me and my Father. ²⁵ But in order that the word having been written in their law may be fulfilled, That they hated me gratuitously. ²⁶ When the Comforter, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, may come, He will witness concerning me, ²⁷ but you indeed are witnesses, because you are with me from the beginning.

⁴ But I have spoken these things to you, that when the hour may come, you may remember them, that I did say them to you. But I said not these things to you from the beginning, because I was with you.

²¹ it is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor anything by which your brother stumbles.

¹⁰ in order that you may distinguish those things which differ; that you may be pure and without offence in the day of Christ;

⁸ who stumble over the word, disbelieving: unto which they indeed were appointed.
