As the harte brayeth for the riuers of water, so panteth my soule after thee, O God. ² My soule thirsteth for God, euen for the liuing God: when shall I come and appeare before the presence of God? ³ My teares haue bin my meate day and night, while they dayly say vnto me, Where is thy God? ⁴ When I remembred these things, I powred out my very heart, because I had gone with the multitude, and ledde them into the House of God with the voyce of singing, and prayse, as a multitude that keepeth a feast. ⁵ Why art thou cast downe, my soule, and vnquiet within me? waite on God: for I will yet giue him thankes for the helpe of his presence. ⁶ My God, my soule is cast downe within me, because I remember thee, from the land of Iorden, and Hermonim, and from the mount Mizar. ⁷ One deepe calleth another deepe by the noyse of thy water spoutes: all thy waues and thy floods are gone ouer me. ⁸ The Lord will graunt his louing kindenesse in the day, and in the night shall I sing of him, euen a prayer vnto the God of my life. ⁹ I wil say vnto God, which is my rocke, Why hast thou forgotten mee? why goe I mourning, when the enemie oppresseth me? ¹⁰ My bones are cut asunder, while mine enemies reproch me, saying dayly vnto me, Where is thy God? ¹¹ Why art thou cast downe, my soule? and why art thou disquieted within mee? waite on God: for I wil yet giue him thankes: he is my present helpe, and my God.

¹⁷ These three times in the yeere shall all thy men children appeare before the Lord Iehouah.

¹ Nowe Korah the sonne of Izhar, the sonne of Kohath, the sonne of Leui went apart with Dathan, and Abiram the sonnes of Eliab, and On the sonne of Peleth, the sonnes of Reuben:

³² And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them vp, with their families, and all the men that were with Korah, and all their goods.

¹¹ Notwithstanding, all the sonnes of Korah dyed not.

⁸ Thus we tooke at that time out of the hand of two Kings of the Amorites, the land that was on this side Iorden from the riuer of Arnon vnto mount Hermon: ⁹ (Which Hermon the Sidonians call Shirion, but the Amorites call it Shenir)

⁴⁷ And they possessed his land, and the lande of Og King of Bashan, two Kings of the Amorites, which were on this side Iorden towarde the sunne rising: ⁴⁸ From Aroer, which is by the banke of the riuer Arnon, euen vnto mount Sion, which is Hermon,

¹¹ And thou shalt reioyce before the Lord thy God, thou and thy sonne, and thy daughter, and thy seruant, and thy maide, and the Leuite that is within thy gates, and the stranger, and the fatherles, and the widowe, that are among you, in the place which the Lord thy God shall chuse to place his Name there,

¹⁴ And thou shalt reioyce in thy feast, thou, and thy sonne, and thy daughter, and thy seruant, and thy maid, and the Leuite, and the stranger, and the fatherlesse, and the widow, that are within thy gates. ¹⁵ Seuen daies shalt thou keepe a feast vnto the Lord thy God in the place which the Lord shall chuse: when the Lord thy God shall blesse thee in all thine increase, and in all the workes of thine hands, thou shalt in any case be glad.

⁸ The Lord shall command the blessing to be with thee in thy store houses, and in all that thou settest thine hande to, and wil blesse thee in the land which the Lord thy God giueth thee.

¹⁰ And Ioshua said, Hereby ye shall know that the liuing God is among you, and that he will certainely cast out before you the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Hiuites, and the Perizzites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Iebusites.

²¹ I went out full, and the Lord hath caused me to returne emptie: why call ye me Naomi, seeing the Lord hath humbled me, and the Almightie hath brought me vnto aduersitie?

¹⁵ Then Hannah answered and sayd, Nay my lord, but I am a woman troubled in spirit: I haue drunke neither wine nor strong drinke, but haue powred out my soule before the Lord. ¹⁶ Count not thine handmaide for a wicked woman: for of the abundance of my complaint and my griefe haue I spoken hitherto.

¹⁵ And the sonnes of the Leuites bare the Arke of God vpon their shoulders with the barres, as Moses had commanded, according to the worde of the Lord. ¹⁶ And Dauid spake to the chiefe of the Leuites, that they should appoint certaine of their brethren to sing with instruments of musike, with violes and harpes, and cymbales, that they might make a sounde, and lift vp their voyce with ioye. ¹⁷ So the Leuites appointed Heman the sonne of Ioel, and of his brethren Asaph the sonne of Berechiah, and of the sonnes of Merari their brethren, Ethan the sonne of Kushaiah, ¹⁸ And with them their brethren in the seconde degree, Zechariah, Ben, and Iaaziel, and Shemiramoth, and Iehiel, and Vnni, Eliab, and Benaiah, and Maaseiah, and Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneah, and Obed Edom, and Ieiel the porters. ¹⁹ So Heman, Asaph and Ethan were fingers to make a sounde with cymbales of brasse, ²⁰ And Zechariah, and Aziel, and Shemiramoth, and Iehiel, and Vnni, and Eliab, and Maaseiah, and Benaiah with violes on Alamoth, ²¹ And Mattithiah, and Elipheleh, and Mikneah, and Obed Edom, and Ieiel, and Azaziah, with harpes vpon Sheminith Ienazzeah. ²² But Chenaniah the chiefe of the Leuites had the charge, bearing ye burden in the charge, for he was able to instruct. ²³ And Berechiah and Elkanah were porters for the Arke. ²⁴ And Shecaniah and Iehoshaphat and Nethaneel and Amasai, and Zechariah, and Benaiah, and Eliezer the Priestes did blowe with trumpets before the Arke of God, and Obed Edom and Ieiiah were porters for the Arke. ²⁵ So Dauid and the Elders of Israel and the captaines of thousandes went to bring vp the Arke of the couenant of the Lord from the house of Obed Edom with ioye. ²⁶ And because that God helped the Leuites that bare the Arke of the couenant of the Lord, they offered seuen bullockes and seuen rammes. ²⁷ And Dauid had on him a linen garment, as all the Leuites that bare the Arke, and the singers and Chenaniah that had the chiefe charge of the singers: and vpon Dauid was a linnen Ephod. ²⁸ Thus all Israel brought vp the Arke of the Lordes couenant with shouting and sounde of cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbales, making a sound with violes and with harpes.

¹ So they brought in the Arke of God, and set it in the middes of the Tabernacle that Dauid had pitched for it, and they offred burnt offrings and peace offrings before God. ² And when Dauid had made an ende of offering the burnt offering and the peace offerings, hee blessed the people in the Name of the Lord. ³ And he dealt to euery one of Israel both man and woman, to euery one a cake of breade, and a piece of flesh, and a bottel of wine. ⁴ And he appointed certaine of the Leuites to minister before the Arke of the Lord, and to rehearse and to thanke and prayse the Lord God of Israel: ⁵ Asaph the chiefe, and next to him Zechariah, Ieiel, and Shemiramoth, and Iehiel, and Mattithiah, and Eliab, and Benaiah, and Obed Edom, euen Ieiel with instruments, violes and harpes, and Asaph to make a sound with cymbales, ⁶ And Benaiah and Iahaziel Priestes, with trumpets continually before the Arke of the couenant of God. ⁷ Then at that time Dauid did appoint at the beginning to giue thankes to the Lord by the hand of Asaph and his brethren. ⁸ Praise the Lord and call vpon his Name: declare his workes among the people. ⁹ Sing vnto him, sing praise vnto him, and talke of all his wonderfull workes. ¹⁰ Reioyce in his holy Name: let the hearts of them that seeke the Lord reioyce. ¹¹ Seeke the Lord and his strength: seeke his face continually. ¹² Remember his marueilous workes that he hath done, his wonders, and the iudgements of his mouth, ¹³ O seede of Israel his seruant, O the children of Iaakob his chosen. ¹⁴ He is the Lord our God: his iudgements are throughout all the earth. ¹⁵ Remember his couenant for euer, and the worde, which hee commanded to a thousand generations: ¹⁶ Which he made with Abraham, and his othe to Izhak: ¹⁷ And hath confirmed it to Iaakob for a Law, and to Israel for an euerlasting couenant, ¹⁸ Saying, To thee will I giue the land of Canaan, the lot of your inheritance. ¹⁹ When ye were fewe in number, yea, a very fewe, and strangers therein, ²⁰ And walked about from nation to nation, and from one kingdome to another people, ²¹ He suffered no man to do them wrong, but rebuked Kings for their sakes, saying, ²² Touch not mine anoynted, and doe my Prophets no harme. ²³ Sing vnto the Lord all the earth: declare his saluation from day to day. ²⁴ Declare his glory among the nations, and his wonderful workes among all people. ²⁵ For the Lord is great and much to be praised, and hee is to bee feared aboue all gods. ²⁶ For all the gods of the people are idoles, but the Lord made the heauens. ²⁷ Prayse and glory are before him: power and beautie are in his place. ²⁸ Giue vnto the Lord, ye families of the people: giue vnto the Lord glory and power. ²⁹ Giue vnto the Lord ye glory of his Name: bring an offring and come before him, and worship the Lord in the glorious Sanctuarie. ³⁰ Tremble ye before him, al the earth: surely the world shalbe stable and not moue. ³¹ Let the heauens reioyce, and let the earth be glad, and let them say among the nations, The Lord reigneth. ³² Let the sea roare, and all that therein is: Let the field be ioyfull and all that is in it. ³³ Let the trees of the wood then reioyce at the presence of the Lord: for he commeth to iudge the earth. ³⁴ Prayse the Lord, for hee is good, for his mercie endureth for euer. ³⁵ And say ye, Saue vs, O God, our saluation, and gather vs, and deliuer vs from the heathen, that we may prayse thine holy Name, and glorie in thy praise. ³⁶ Blessed be the Lord God of Israel for euer and euer: and let all people say, So be it, and praise the Lord. ³⁷ Then he left there before the Arke of the Lordes couenant Asaph and his brethren to minister continually before the Arke, that which was to be done euery day: ³⁸ And Obed Edom and his brethren, three score and eight: and Obed Edom the sonne of Ieduthun, and Hosah were porters. ³⁹ And Zadok the Priest and his brethren the Priestes were before the Tabernacle of ye Lord, in the hie place that was at Gibeon, ⁴⁰ To offer burnt offrings vnto the Lord, vpon the burnt offring altar continually, in the morning and in the euening, euen according vnto all that is written in the law of the Lord, which hee commanded Israel. ⁴¹ And with them were Heman, and Ieduthun, and the rest that were chosen (which were appointed by names) to praise the Lord, because his mercie endureth for euer. ⁴² Euen with them were Heman and Ioduthun, to make a sound with the cornets and with the cymbales, with excellent instruments of musicke: and the sonnes of Ieduthun were at the gate. ⁴³ And all the people departed, euerie man to his house: and Dauid returned to blesse his house.

¹ So Dauid and the captaines of the armie separated for the ministerie the sonnes of Asaph, and Heman, and Ieduthun, who should sing prophesies with harpes, with violes, and with cymbales, and their nomber was euen of the men for the office of their ministerie, to wit, ² Of the sonnes of Asaph, Zaccur, and Ioseph, and Nethaniah, and Asharelah the sonnes of Asaph were vnder the hand of Asaph, which sang prophesies by the commission of the King. ³ Of Ieduthun, the sonnes of Ieduthun, Gedaliah, and Zeri, and Ieshaiah, Ashabiah and Mattithiah, six, vnder the hands of their father: Ieduthun sang prophecies with an harpe, for to giue thankes and to praise the Lord. ⁴ Of Heman, the sonnes of Heman, Bukkiah, Mattaniah, Vzziel, Shebuel, and Ierimoth, Hananiah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, and Romamtiezer, Ioshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir, and Mahazioth. ⁵ All these were the sonnes of Heman, the Kings Seer in the wordes of God to lift vp the horne: and God gaue to Heman fourtene sonnes and three daughters.

¹⁰ And the three and twentieth day of the seuenth moneth, he sent the people away into their tentes, ioyous and with glad heart, because of the goodnesse that the Lord had done for Dauid and for Salomon, and for Israel his people.

²³ And the whole assembly tooke counsel to keepe it other seuen dayes. So they kept it seuen dayes with ioy. ²⁴ For Hezekiah King of Iudah had giuen to the Congregation a thousande bullockes, and seuen thousand sheepe. And the princes had giuen to the Congregation a thousand bullocks, and ten thousand sheepe: and many Priests were sanctified. ²⁵ And all the Congregation of Iudah reioyced with the Priestes and the Leuites, and all the Congregation that came out of Israel, and the strangers that came out of the land of Israel, and that dwelt in Iudah. ²⁶ So there was great ioye in Ierusalem: for since the time of Salomon the sonne of Dauid King of Israel there was not the like thing in Ierusalem.

² For whereto shoulde the strength of their handes haue serued mee, seeing age perished in them? ³ For pouertie and famine they were solitary, fleeing into the wildernes, which is darke, desolate and waste. ⁴ They cut vp nettels by the bushes, and the iuniper rootes was their meate. ⁵ They were chased forth from among men: they shouted at them, as at a theefe. ⁶ Therfore they dwelt in the clefts of riuers, in the holes of the earth and rockes. ⁷ They roared among the bushes, and vnder the thistles they gathered themselues. ⁸ They were the children of fooles and the children of villaines, which were more vile then the earth. ⁹ And now am I their song, and I am their talke. ¹⁰ They abhorre me, and flee farre from mee, and spare not to spit in my face. ¹¹ Because that God hath loosed my corde and humbled mee, they haue loosed the bridle before me. ¹² The youth rise vp at my right hand: they haue pusht my feete, and haue trode on me as on the paths of their destruction. ¹³ They haue destroyed my paths: they tooke pleasure at my calamitie, they had none helpe. ¹⁴ They came as a great breach of waters, and vnder this calamitie they come on heapes. ¹⁵ Feare is turned vpon mee: and they pursue my soule as the winde, and mine health passeth away as a cloude. ¹⁶ Therefore my soule is nowe powred out vpon me, and the dayes of affliction haue taken holde on me. ¹⁷ It pearceth my bones in the night, and my sinewes take no rest. ¹⁸ For the great vehemencie is my garment changed, which compasseth me about as the colar of my coate. ¹⁹ He hath cast me into the myre, and I am become like ashes and dust. ²⁰ Whe I cry vnto thee, thou doest not heare me, neither regardest me, when I stand vp. ²¹ Thou turnest thy selfe cruelly against me, and art enemie vnto mee with the strength of thine hand. ²² Thou takest me vp and causest mee to ride vpon the winde, and makest my strength to faile. ²³ Surely I knowe that thou wilt bring mee to death, and to the house appoynted for all the liuing. ²⁴ Doubtles none can stretch his hand vnto the graue, though they cry in his destruction. ²⁵ Did not I weepe with him that was in trouble? was not my soule in heauinesse for the poore? ²⁶ Yet when I looked for good, euill came vnto me: and when I waited for light, there came darkenesse. ²⁷ My bowels did boyle without rest: for the dayes of affliction are come vpon me. ²⁸ I went mourning without sunne: I stood vp in the congregation and cryed. ²⁹ I am a brother to the dragons, and a companion to the ostriches. ³⁰ My skinne is blacke vpon me, and my bones are burnt with heate. ³¹ Therefore mine harpe is turned to mourning, and mine organs into the voyce of them that weepe.

⁴ One thing haue I desired of the Lord, that I will require, euen that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the dayes of my life, to beholde the beautie of the Lord, and to visite his Temple.

¹³ I should haue fainted, except I had beleeued to see the goodnes of the Lord in the land of the liuing. ¹⁴ Hope in the Lord: be strong, and he shall comfort thine heart, and trust in the Lord.

¹ A Psalme of David. Unto thee, O Lord, doe I crie: O my strength, be not deafe toward mee, lest, if thou answere me not, I be like them that goe downe into the pit.

⁷ Thou art my secret place: thou preseruest me from trouble: thou compassest me about with ioyfull deliuerance. Selah.

⁷ Waite patiently vpon the Lord and hope in him: fret not thy selfe for him which prospereth in his way: nor for the man that bringeth his enterprises to passe.

³ For they inherited not the lande by their owne sworde, neither did their owne arme saue them: but thy right hand, and thine arme and the light of thy countenance, because thou didest fauour them. ⁴ Thou art my King, O God: send helpe vnto Iaakob.

²³ Vp, why sleepest thou, O Lord? awake, be not farre off for euer. ²⁴ Wherefore hidest thou thy face? and forgettest our miserie and our affliction?

¹ To him that excelleth on Shoshannim a song of love to give instruction, committed to the sonnes of Korah. Mine heart will vtter forth a good matter: I wil intreat in my workes of the King: my tongue is as the pen of a swift writer.
