²⁰ A wise sonne reioyceth the father: but a foolish man despiseth his mother.

²⁵ A foolish sonne is a griefe vnto his father, and a heauines to her that bare him.

¹³ A foolish sonne is the calamitie of his father, and the contentions of a wife are like a continuall dropping.

¹⁵ My sonne, if thine heart be wise, mine heart shall reioyce, and I also. ¹⁶ And my reynes shall reioyce, when thy lips speake righteous things.

³ And I wrote this same thing vnto you, lest when I came, I should take heauines of them, of whom I ought to reioyce: this confidence haue I in you all, that my ioye is the ioye of you all.

¹⁹ I Paul haue written this with mine owne hande: I will recompense it, albeit I doe not say to thee, that thou owest moreouer vnto me euen thine owne selfe. ²⁰ Yea, brother, let mee obteine this pleasure of thee in the Lord: comfort my bowels in the Lord.

⁴ I haue no greater ioy then these, that is, to heare that my sonnes walke in veritie.
