²⁰ Then began he to vpbraide the cities, wherein most of his great workes were done, because they repented not.

¹¹ But my people would not heare my voyce, and Israel would none of me. ¹² So I gaue them vp vnto the hardnesse of their heart, and they haue walked in their owne cousels. ¹³ Oh that my people had hearkened vnto me, and Israel had walked in my wayes.

² Heare, O heauens, and hearken, O earth: for the Lord hath sayde, I haue nourished and brought vp children, but they haue rebelled against me. ³ The oxe knoweth his owner, and the asse his masters crib: but Israel hath not knowen: my people hath not vnderstand. ⁴ Ah, sinfull nation, a people laden with iniquitie: a seede of the wicked, corrupt children: they haue forsaken the Lord: they haue prouoked the holy one of Israel to anger: they are gone backewarde. ⁵ Wherefore shoulde ye be smitten any more? for ye fall away more and more: the whole head is sicke, and the whole heart is heauie.

⁶ I hearkened and heard, but none spake aright: no man repented him of his wickednesse, saying, What haue I done? euery one turned to their race, as the horse rusheth into the battell.

¹ Hearken ye nowe what the Lord sayth, Arise thou, and contende before the mountaines, and let the hilles heare thy voyce. ² Heare ye, O mountaynes, the Lordes quarel, and ye mightie foundations of the earth: for the Lord hath a quarell against his people, and he will pleade with Israel. ³ O my people, what haue I done vnto thee? or wherin haue I grieued thee? testifie against me. ⁴ Surely I brought thee vp out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed thee out of the house of seruants, and I haue sent before thee, Moses, Aaron, and Miriam. ⁵ O my people, remember nowe what Balak King of Moab had deuised, and what Balaam the sonne of Beor answered him, from Shittim vnto Gilgal, that ye may knowe the righteousnes of the Lord.

⁴¹ The men of Nineue shall rise in iudgement with this generation, and condemne it: for they repented at the preaching of Ionas: and behold, a greater then Ionas is here.

²⁸ But what thinke ye? A certaine man had two sonnes, and came to the elder, and saide, Sonne, goe and worke to day in my vineyarde. ²⁹ But he answered, and said, I will not: yet afterward he repented himselfe, and went. ³⁰ Then came he to the second, and said likewise. ¹⁹ Then he answered him, and said, O faithlesse generation, how long now shall I be with you! how long now shall I suffer you! Bring him vnto me.

¹⁴ Finally, he appeared vnto the eleuen as they sate together, and reproched them for their vnbeliefe and hardnesse of heart, because they beleeued not them which had seene him, being risen vp againe.

¹³ Woe be to thee, Chorazin: woe be to thee, Beth-saida: for if the miracles had bene done in Tyrus and Sidon, which haue bene done in you, they had a great while agone repented, sitting in sackecloth and ashes. ¹⁴ Therefore it shall be easier for Tyrus, and Sidon, at the iudgement, then for you. ¹⁵ And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heauen, shalt be thrust downe to hell.

²⁰ For thou bringest certaine strange thinges vnto our eares: we woulde knowe therefore, what these things meane.

²⁵ Instructing them with meekenesse that are contrary minded, prouing if God at any time will giue them repentance, that they may acknowledge the trueth, ²⁶ And come to amendment out of that snare of the deuil, of whom they are taken prisoners, to doe his will.

⁵ If any of you lacke wisedome, let him aske of God, which giueth to all men liberally, and reprocheth no man, and it shalbe giuen him.

²¹ And I gaue her space to repent of her fornication, and she repented not.

²⁰ And the remnant of the men which were not killed by these plagues, repented not of the works of their handes that they should not worship deuils, and idoles of golde and of siluer, and of brasse, and of stone, and of wood, which neither can see, neither heare nor goe. ²¹ Also they repented not of their murder, and of their sorcerie, neither of their fornication, nor of their theft.

⁹ And men boyled in great heate, and blasphemed the Name of God, which hath power ouer these plagues, and they repented not, to giue him glorie.

¹¹ And blasphemed the God of heauen for their paines, and for their sores, and repented not of their workes.
