²¹ Woe be to thee, Chorazin: Woe be to thee, Bethsaida: for if ye great workes, which were done in you, had bene done in Tyrus and Sidon, they had repented long agone in sackecloth and ashes.

⁶ Therefore I abhorre my selfe, and repent in dust and ashes.

²⁷ I haue seene thine adulteries, and thy neiings, the filthinesse of thy whoredome on the hils in the fieldes, and thine abominations. Wo vnto thee, O Ierusalem: wilt thou not bee made cleane? when shall it once be?

⁶ Not to many people of an vnknowen tongue, or of an harde language, whose wordes thou canst not vnderstand: yet if I should sende thee to them, they would obey thee. ⁷ But the house of Israel will not obey thee: for they will not obey me: yea, all the house of Israel are impudent and stiffe hearted.

²² But I say to you, It shalbe easier for Tyrus and Sidon at the day of iudgement, then for you.

⁴¹ The men of Nineue shall rise in iudgement with this generation, and condemne it: for they repented at the preaching of Ionas: and behold, a greater then Ionas is here. ⁴² The Queene of the South shall rise in iudgement with this generation, and shall condemne it: for she came from the vtmost partes of the earth to heare the wisdome of Salomon: and beholde, a greater then Salomon is here.

⁷ Wo be vnto the world because of offences: for it must needes be that offences shall come, but wo be to that man by whome the offence commeth.

¹³ Wo therefore be vnto you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites, because ye shut vp the kingdome of heauen before men: for ye your selues go not in, neither suffer ye them that would enter, to come in. ¹⁴ Wo be vnto you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye deuoure widowes houses, euen vnder a colour of long prayers: wherefore ye shall receiue the greater damnation. ¹⁵ Wo be vnto you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye compasse sea and land to make one of your profession: and when he is made, ye make him two folde more the childe of hell, then you your selues. ¹⁶ Wo be vnto you blinde guides, which say, Whosoeuer sweareth by the Temple, it is nothing: but whosoeuer sweareth by the golde of the Temple, he offendeth. ¹⁷ Ye fooles and blinde, whether is greater, the golde, or the Temple that sanctifieth the golde? ¹⁸ And whosoeuer sweareth by the altar, it is nothing: but whosoeuer sweareth by the offering that is vpon it, offendeth. ¹⁹ Ye fooles and blinde, whether is greater, the offering, or the altar which sanctifieth the offering? ²⁰ Whosoeuer therefore sweareth by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon. ²¹ And whosoeuer sweareth by the Temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein. ²² And he that sweareth by heauen, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon. ²³ Wo be to you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye tithe mynt, and annyse, and cummyn, and leaue the weightier matters of the law, as iudgement, and mercy and fidelitie. These ought ye to haue done, and not to haue left the other. ²⁴ Ye blinde guides, which straine out a gnat, and swallowe a camell. ²⁵ Wo be to you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye make cleane the vtter side of the cup, and of the platter: but within they are ful of briberie and excesse. ²⁶ Thou blinde Pharise, cleanse first the inside of the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be cleane also. ²⁷ Wo be to you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye are like vnto whited tombes, which appeare beautifull outward, but are within full of dead mens bones, and all filthines. ²⁸ So are ye also: for outwarde ye appeare righteous vnto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisie and iniquitie. ²⁹ Wo be vnto you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye build the tombes of the Prophets, and garnish the sepulchres of the righteous,

²⁴ Surely the Sonne of man goeth his way, as it is written of him: but woe be to that man, by whom the Sonne of man is betrayed: it had bene good for that man, if hee had neuer bene borne.

⁸ And from Ierusalem, and from Idumea, and beyonde Iordan: and they that dwelled about Tyrus and Sidon, when they had heard what great things he did, came vnto him in great number.

⁴⁵ And straightway he caused his disciples to goe into the ship, and to goe before vnto the other side vnto Bethsaida, while he sent away the people.

²⁴ And from thence he rose, and went into the borders of Tyrus and Sidon, and entred into an house, and woulde that no man should haue knowen: but he could not be hid.

³¹ And hee departed againe from the coastes of Tyrus and Sidon, and came vnto the sea of Galile, through the middes of the coastes of Decapolis.

²² And hee came to Bethsaida, and they brought a blinde man vnto him, and desired him to touch him.

²⁶ But vnto none of them was Elias sent, saue into Sarepta, a citie of Sidon, vnto a certaine widowe.

¹⁷ Then he came downe with them, and stood in a plaine place, with the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Iudea, and Hierusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyrus and Sidon, which came to heare him, and to be healed of their diseases:

¹⁰ And when the Apostles returned, they tolde him what great things they had done. Then he tooke them to him, and went aside into a solitarie place, neere to the citie called Bethsaida.

⁴² But wo be to you, Pharises: for ye tithe the mynt and the rewe, and all maner herbs, and passe ouer iudgement and the loue of God: these ought yee to haue done, and not to haue left the other vndone. ⁴³ Wo be to you, Pharises: for ye loue the vppermost seats in the Synagogues, and greetings in the markets. ⁴⁴ Wo be to you, Scribes and Pharises, hypocrites: for ye are as graues which appeare not, and the men that walke ouer them, perceiue not. ⁴⁵ Then answered one of the Lawyers, and saide vnto him, Master, thus saying thou puttest vs to rebuke also. ⁴⁶ And he sayde, Wo be to you also, yee Lawyers: for yee lade men with burdens grieuous to be borne, and yee your selues touche not the burdens with one of your fingers. ⁴⁷ Wo be to you: for ye builde the sepulchres of the Prophetes, and your fathers killed them. ⁴⁸ Truely ye beare witnesse, and allowe the deedes of your fathers: for they killed them, and yee build their sepulchres. ⁴⁹ Therefore said the wisedome of God, I wil sende them Prophets and Apostles, and of them they shall slaie, and persecute away, ⁵⁰ That the blood of all the Prophets, shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation, ⁵¹ From the blood of Abel vnto the blood of Zacharias, which was slaine betweene the altar and the Temple: verely I say vnto you, it shall be required of this generation. ⁵² Wo be to you, Lawyers: for ye haue taken away the key of knowledge: ye entred not in your selues, and them that came in, ye forbade.

⁵ Iesus answered, Verely, verely I say vnto thee, except that a man be borne of water and of the Spirite, hee can not enter into the kingdome of God. ⁶ That which is borne of the flesh, is flesh: and that that is borne of the Spirit, is spirit. ⁷ Marueile not that I said to thee, Yee must be borne againe. ⁸ The winde bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it commeth, and whither it goeth: so is euery man that is borne of the Spirit. ⁹ Nicodemus answered, and said vnto him, Howe can these things be? ¹⁰ Iesus answered, and saide vnto him, Art thou a teacher of Israel, and knowest not these things?

²¹ And they came to Philippe, which was of Bethsaida in Galile, and desired him, saying, Syr, we would see that Iesus.

²⁰ Then Herod was angrie with them of Tyrus and Sidon, but they came all with one accord vnto him, and perswaded Blastus the Kings Chamberlaine, and they desired peace, because their countrey was nourished by the Kings land.

⁴⁴ And ye next Sabbath day came almost the whole citie together, to heare the worde of God. ⁴⁵ But when the Iewes saw the people, they were full of enuie, and spake against those things, which were spoken of Paul, contrarying them, and railing on them. ⁴⁶ Then Paul and Barnabas spake boldly, and sayde, It was necessarie that the woorde of God shoulde first haue beene spoken vnto you: but seeing yee put it from you, and iudge your selues vnworthie of euerlasting life, loe, we turne to the Gentiles. ⁴⁷ For so hath the Lord commanded vs, saying, I haue made thee a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be the saluation vnto the end of the world. ⁴⁸ And when the Gentiles heard it, they were glad, and glorified the woorde of the Lord: and as many as were ordeined vnto eternall life, beleeued.

³ And the next day we arriued at Sidon: and Iulius courteously entreated Paul, and gaue him libertie to go vnto his friends, that they might refresh him.

²⁵ Therefore when they agreed not among themselues, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, to wit, Well spake the holy Ghost by Esaias the Prophet vnto our fathers, ²⁶ Saying, Goe vnto this people, and say, By hearing ye shall heare, and shall not vnderstand, and seeing ye shall see, and not perceiue. ²⁷ For the heart of this people is waxed fatte, and their eares are dull of hearing, and with their eyes haue they winked, least they shoulde see with their eyes, and heare with their eares, and vnderstand with their heartes, and should returne that I might heale them. ²⁸ Be it knowen therefore vnto you, that this saluation of God is sent to the Gentiles, and they shall heare it.

¹¹ Wo be vnto them: for they haue followed the way of Cain, and are cast away by the deceit of Balaams wages, and perish in the gainsaying of Core.
