¹⁰ The God of my mercy shall prevent me: God shall let me see [my desire] upon mine enemies.

¹⁰ And David said, As the LORD liveth, the LORD shall smite him; or his day shall come to die; or he shall go down into battle, and perish.

¹¹ Then David took hold on his clothes, and rent them; and likewise all the men that were with him: ¹² and they mourned, and wept, and fasted until even, for Saul, and for Jonathan his son, and for the people of the LORD, and for the house of Israel; because they were fallen by the sword.

¹⁷ And David lamented with this lamentation over Saul and over Jonathan his son:

⁸ Lead me, O LORD, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way plain before my face.

³ For thou preventest him with the blessings of goodness: thou settest a crown of fine gold on his head.

⁵ He shall requite the evil unto mine enemies: destroy thou them in thy truth.

⁷ For he hath delivered me out of all trouble; and mine eye hath seen [my desire] upon mine enemies.

² Mine enemies would swallow me up all the day long: for they be many that fight proudly against me.

⁶ They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, even as they have waited for my soul.

¹⁷ Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing praises: for God is my high tower, the God of my mercy.

⁸ Remember not against us the iniquities of our forefathers: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.

⁸ Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold, and see the reward of the wicked.

¹¹ Mine eye also hath seen [my desire] on mine enemies, mine ears have heard [my desire] of the evil-doers that rise up against me.

⁸ His heart is established, he shall not be afraid, until he see [his desire] upon his adversaries.

²⁴ And it shall come to pass that, before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

¹⁶ As for me, I have not hastened from being a shepherd after thee; neither have I desired the woeful day; thou knowest: that which came out of my lips was before thy face.

⁴¹ And when he drew nigh, he saw the city and wept over it, ⁴² saying, If thou hadst known in this day, even thou, the things which belong unto peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes. ⁴³ For the days shall come upon thee, when thine enemies shall cast up a bank about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side, ⁴⁴ and shall dash thee to the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.

² For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. ³ For being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and seeking to establish their own, they did not subject themselves to the righteousness of God.

³ Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort;

⁴ but God, being rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, ⁵ even when we were dead through our trespasses, quickened us together with Christ (by grace have ye been saved),

¹⁵ For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we that are alive, that are left unto the coming of the Lord, shall in no wise precede them that are fallen asleep.

¹⁰ And the God of all grace, who called you unto his eternal glory in Christ, after that ye have suffered a little while, shall himself perfect, stablish, strengthen you.
