¹ A Song of Ascents. I will lift up mine eyes unto the mountains: from whence shall my help come? ² My help [cometh] from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. ³ He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. ⁴ Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep. ⁵ The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. ⁶ The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. ⁷ The LORD shall keep thee from all evil; he shall keep thy soul. ⁸ The LORD shall keep thy going out and thy coming in, from this time forth and for evermore.

⁶ Yet I have set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.

¹⁵ A mountain of God is the mountain of Bashan; an high mountain is the mountain of Bashan. ¹⁶ Why look ye askance, ye high mountains, at the mountain which God hath desired for his abode? yea, the LORD will dwell [in it] for ever.

¹ A Song of Ascents. Unto thee do I lift up mine eyes, O thou that sittest in the heavens.

³ And many peoples shall go and say, come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

²³ Truly in vain is [the help that is looked for] from the hills, the tumult on the mountains: truly in the LORD our God is the salvation of Israel.

¹ For the Chief Musician: [a Psalm] of the sons of Korah; set to Alamoth. A Song. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

¹⁵ Blessed are ye of the LORD, which made heaven and earth.

⁵ Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God: ⁶ Which made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is; which keepeth truth for ever:

²⁸ Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard? the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary; there is no searching of his understanding. ²⁹ He giveth power to the faint; and to him that hath no might he increaseth strength.

¹³ For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.

¹¹ But the LORD is with me as a mighty one [and] a terrible: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed, because they have not dealt wisely, even with an everlasting dishonour which shall never be forgotten.

⁹ It is thy destruction, O Israel, that [thou art] against me, against thy help.

⁶ So that with good courage we say, The Lord is my helper; I will not fear: What shall man do unto me?

⁹ He will keep the feet of his holy ones, but the wicked shall be put to silence in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.

² The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive, and he shall be blessed upon the earth; and deliver not thou him unto the will of his enemies.

⁹ Which holdeth our soul in life, and suffereth not our feet to be moved.

¹² They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

¹ A Song of Ascents; of Solomon. Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

⁸ That he may guard the paths of judgment, and preserve the way of his saints.

²³ Then shalt thou walk in thy way securely, and thy foot shall not stumble.

²⁶ For the LORD shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.

³ I the LORD do keep it; I will water it every moment: lest any hurt it, I will keep it night and day.

⁵ who by the power of God are guarded through faith unto a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

²⁷ And it came to pass at noon, that Elijah mocked them, and said, Cry aloud: for he is a god; either he is musing, or he is gone aside, or he is in a journey, or peradventure he sleepeth, and must be awaked.

¹ [A Psalm] of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

⁷ Thou art my hiding place; thou wilt preserve me from trouble; thou wilt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah ⁸ I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will counsel thee with mine eye upon thee.

¹⁶ When I applied mine heart to know wisdom, and to see the business that is done upon the earth: (for also there is that neither day nor night seeth sleep with his eyes:)

¹⁵ Therefore are they before the throne of God; and they serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall spread his tabernacle over them.

²¹ And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; that they might go by day and by night:

⁸ I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

¹ He that dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

³¹ For he shall stand at the right hand of the needy, to save him from them that judge his soul.

⁵ And the LORD will create over the whole habitation of mount Zion, and over her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day, and the shining of a flaming fire by night: for over all the glory [shall be spread] a canopy. ⁶ And there shall be a pavilion for a shadow in the day-time from the heat, and for a refuge and for a covert from storm and from rain.

⁴ For thou hast been a strong hold to the poor, a strong hold to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.

² And a man shall be as an hiding place from the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.

³⁷ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killeth the prophets, and stoneth them that are sent unto her! how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

⁵ Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night, nor for the arrow that flieth by day; ⁶ For the pestilence that walketh in darkness, nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. ⁷ A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; [but] it shall not come nigh thee. ⁸ Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold, and see the reward of the wicked. ⁹ For thou, O LORD, art my refuge! thou hast made the Most High thy habitation; ¹⁰ There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy tent.

¹⁰ They shall not hunger nor thirst; neither shall the heat nor sun smite them: for he that hath mercy on them shall lead them, even by the springs of water shall he guide them.

⁸ And it came to pass, when the sun arose, that God prepared a sultry east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of Jonah, that he fainted, and requested for himself that he might die, and said, It is better for me to die than to live.

¹⁶ They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun strike upon them, nor any heat:

¹⁹ He shall deliver thee in six troubles; yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee. ²⁰ In famine he shall redeem thee from death; and in war from the power of the sword. ²¹ Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue; neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh. ²² At destruction and dearth thou shalt laugh; neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth. ²³ For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field; and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee. ²⁴ And thou shalt know that thy tent is in peace; and thou shalt visit thy fold, and shalt miss nothing. ²⁵ Thou shalt know also that thy seed shall be great, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth. ²⁶ Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in in its season. ²⁷ Lo this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know thou it for thy good.

²² The LORD redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be condemned.

⁹ For thou, O LORD, art my refuge! thou hast made the Most High thy habitation; ¹⁰ There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy tent. ¹¹ For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. ¹² They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

¹⁰ O ye that love the LORD, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.

²⁰ The LORD preserveth all them that love him; but all the wicked will he destroy.

²¹ There shall no mischief happen to the righteous: but the wicked shall be filled with evil.

¹³ And bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil [one].

²⁸ And we know that to them that love God all things work together for good, [even] to them that are called according to [his] purpose.

³⁵ Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? ³⁶ Even as it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; We were accounted as sheep for the slaughter. ³⁷ Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. ³⁸ For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, ³⁹ nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

¹⁸ The Lord will deliver me from every evil work, and will save me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom [be] the glory for ever and ever. Amen.

⁶ Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.

¹⁹ Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and cursed shalt thou be when thou goest out.

² In times past, when Saul was king over us, it was thou that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the LORD said to thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be prince over Israel.

²¹ Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek of him a straight way, for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.

³¹ Then we departed from the river of Ahava on the twelfth [day] of the first month, to go unto Jerusalem: and the hand of our God was upon us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy and the lier in wait by the way.

² Blessed be the name of the LORD from this time forth and for evermore.

¹⁸ But we will bless the LORD from this time forth and for evermore. Praise ye the LORD.

⁶ In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

¹³ Go to now, ye that say, Today or tomorrow we will go into this city, and spend a year there, and trade, and get gain: ¹⁴ whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. What is your life? For ye are a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. ¹⁵ For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall both live, and do this or that. ¹⁶ But now ye glory in your vauntings: all such glorying is evil.
