¹⁷ Shall mortal man be more just than God? shall a man be more pure than his Maker?

²⁵ That be far from thee to do after this manner, to slay the righteous with the wicked, that so the righteous should be as the wicked; that be far from thee: shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?

³ Doth God pervert judgment? or doth the Almighty pervert justice?

² Of a truth I know that it is so: but how can man be just with God?

³⁰ If I wash myself with snow water, and make my hands never so clean; ³¹ Yet wilt thou plunge me in the ditch, and mine own clothes shall abhor me.

⁴ Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.

¹⁴ What is man, that he should be clean? and he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?

⁴ How then can man be just with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman?

² Thinkest thou this to be [thy] right, [or] sayest thou, My righteousness is more than God’s,

¹⁰ But none saith, Where is God my Maker, who giveth songs in the night;

⁸ Wilt thou even disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be justified?

² And enter not into judgment with thy servant; for in thy sight shall no man living be justified.

¹⁷ The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and gracious in all his works.

²⁰ Surely there is not a righteous man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.

¹ Righteous art thou, O LORD, when I plead with thee: yet would I reason the cause with thee: wherefore doth the way of the wicked prosper? wherefore are all they at ease that deal very treacherously?

⁹ The heart is deceitful above all things, and it is desperately sick: who can know it?

²⁰ And he said, That which proceedeth out of the man, that defileth the man. ²¹ For from within, out of the heart of men, evil thoughts proceed, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries, ²² covetings, wickednesses, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, railing, pride, foolishness: ²³ all these evil things proceed from within, and defile the man.

⁵ but after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up for thyself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;

⁴ God forbid: yea, let God be found true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy words, And mightest prevail when thou comest into judgment. ⁵ But if our unrighteousness commendeth the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is God unrighteous who visiteth with wrath? (I speak after the manner of men.) ⁶ God forbid: for then how shall God judge the world? ⁷ But if the truth of God through my lie abounded unto his glory, why am I also still judged as a sinner?

²⁰ Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why didst thou make me thus?

³³ O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and the knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past tracing out!

⁸ And the four living creatures, having each one of them six wings, are full of eyes round about and within: and they have no rest day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, [is] the Lord God, the Almighty, which was and which is and which is to come.
