⁵ Behold, as wild asses in the desert they go forth to their work, seeking diligently for meat; the wilderness [yieldeth] them food for their children.

¹² And he shall be [as] a wild-ass among men; his hand [shall be] against every man, and every man’s hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.

⁴⁰ And by thy sword shalt thou live, and thou shalt serve thy brother; And it shall come to pass when thou shalt break loose, That thou shalt shake his yoke from off thy neck.

⁵ Whose harvest the hungry eateth up, and taketh it even out of the thorns, and the snare gapeth for their substance.

⁶ The tents of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God bringeth [abundantly].

¹⁴ The murderer riseth with the light, he killeth the poor and needy; and in the night he is as a thief.

⁵ Who hath sent out the wild ass free? or who hath loosed the bands of the wild ass? ⁶ Whose house I have made the wilderness, and the salt land his dwelling place. ⁷ He scorneth the tumult of the city, neither heareth he the shoutings of the driver.

²³ Man goeth forth unto his work and to his labour until the evening.

¹⁶ For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.

²⁴ a wild ass used to the wilderness, that snuffeth up the wind in her desire; in her occasion who can turn her away? all they that seek her will not weary themselves; in her month they shall find her.

⁶ For they have made ready their heart like an oven, whiles they lie in wait: their baker sleepeth all the night; in the morning it burneth as a flaming fire.

⁹ For they are gone up to Assyria, [like] a wild ass alone by himself: Ephraim hath hired lovers.

¹ Woe to them that devise iniquity and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they practise it, because it is in the power of their hand.

³ Her princes in the midst of her are roaring lions; her judges are evening wolves; they leave nothing till the morrow.

²⁸ They lead Jesus therefore from Caiaphas into the palace: and it was early; and they themselves entered not into the palace, that they might not be defiled, but might eat the passover.
