⁷ He who does justice unto the oppressed; who gives bread to the hungry. The LORD looses the prisoners:

¹⁶ The LORD is known by the judgment which he has executed; the wicked is snared in the work of his own hands. Higgaion (meditate on this for ever). Selah.

¹⁴ Thou hast seen it, for thou dost behold mischief and spite to requite it with thy hand: the poor commits himself unto thee; thou art the helper of the fatherless. ¹⁵ Break thou the arm of the wicked and the evil man; seek out his wickedness until thou find none.

¹⁸ to judge the fatherless and the oppressed that the man of the earth may no longer oppress.

⁵ For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now I will arise, saith the LORD; I will set in safety the one whom the wicked one has ensnared.

⁶ God sets the solitary in families; he brings out those who are bound with chains, but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.

⁴ He shall judge the poor of the people; he shall save the children of the destitute and shall break in pieces the violent.

⁶ ¶ The LORD executes righteousness and justice unto all that suffer violence.

¹⁷ He sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold for a slave, ¹⁸ whose feet they hurt with fetters; his soul was laid in iron. ¹⁹ Until the time that his word came, the spoken word of the LORD purified him. ²⁰ The king sent and loosed him, the ruler of the people let him go free.

⁹ For he satisfies the soul that is destitute and fills the hungry soul with goodness. ¹⁰ ¶ Such as sat in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and in irons,

¹⁴ He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death and broke their bonds asunder. ¹⁵ Oh that men would praise the LORD for his mercy and for his wonderful works unto the sons of Adam! ¹⁶ For he has broken the gates of brass and cut the bars of iron asunder.

²⁵ Who gives food to all flesh: for his mercy endures for ever.

⁷ Bring my soul out of prison, that I may praise thy name; the righteous shall feast with me; when thou shalt have weaned me.

¹⁵ Ain The eyes of all wait upon thee, and thou givest them their food in due season. ¹⁶ Pe Thou dost open thine hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing.

²² ¶ Rob not the poor, because he is poor: neither destroy the destitute in judgment: ²³ For the LORD will judge their cause and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.

¹⁰ ¶ Do not remove the old landmark, and do not enter into the inheritance of the fatherless: ¹¹ For their redeemer is mighty; he shall judge their cause against thee.

⁴ For thou hast broken his heavy yoke and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian.

¹ ¶ The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me because the LORD has anointed me; he has sent me to preach good tidings unto those who are cast down; to bind up the wounds of the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those that are bound;

¹⁴ And I will satiate the soul of the priest with fatness, and my people shall be filled with my goodness, said the LORD.

¹¹ As for thee also, by the blood of thy covenant I have taken thy prisoners out of the pit in which there is no water. ¹² ¶ Return to the strong hold, ye prisoners of hope; even today I declare that I will render double unto thee;

⁵ And I will come near unto you for judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers and against the adulterers and against false swearers and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and do not fear me, said the LORD of the hosts.

⁵³ He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent empty away.

¹⁸ The Spirit of the Lord is upon me because he has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those that are broken,

¹⁷ And they ate and were all filled, and there was taken up of fragments that remained to them twelve baskets.

¹⁹ But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors and brought them forth and said,

²⁶ then suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.
