⁴ Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister, and call understanding thy kinswoman:

¹⁴ I have said to the pit, Thou art my father; to the worms, my mother, and my sister.

² so that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom and apply thine heart to intelligence, ³ yea, if thou criest for understanding and givest thy voice unto intelligence, ⁴ if thou seekest her as silver and searchest for her as for hid treasures,

⁶ Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee; love her, and she shall keep thee. ⁷ Wisdom is the principal thing, therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. ⁸ Grow in wisdom, and she shall promote thee; she shall bring thee to honour when thou hast embraced her.

¹ ¶ O that thou wert as my brother, that sucked the breasts of my mother! when I should find thee without, I would kiss thee; and I should not be despised.

⁴⁹ And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brothers! ⁵⁰ For whosoever shall do the will of my Father who is in the heavens, the same is my brother and sister and mother.

²⁷ ¶ And it came to pass as he spoke these things, a certain woman of the crowd lifted up her voice and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee and the breasts which thou hast sucked. ²⁸ But he said, Rather, blessed are those that hear the word of God and keep it.
